Cordoba is expected to start tomorrow against his former team Mainz.

The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.

It will be nice to see any Colombian playing some futbol again. :)

Cordoba starting again at the top of the hour.

For those of us in the USA the match will be on FS1 in English and TUDN in Spanish.

Been the driver of this bandwagon for many months now but if he is not on the next Seleccion Roster it will be a travesty in my eyes.

He may not be the best #9 on the planet but he is just as good as any #9 in our talent pool the last 7 months or so.

He took that late goal really nicely but he struggled to get involved throughout most of the game. He had a nice pass that almost led to a goal in the first half but the teammate couldn't take down the difficult ball to control. I've watched his last two games and he's not been super impressive, he battles really hard and works defenders but his touch is inconsistent and he's not great when he needs to beat his man 1v1. He sulked a lot too both games when not getting service, its unfortunate so many of our players tend to get overly emotional when they should really be focusing on not complaining to refs and sulking.

I think he deserves a look as a back up 9 for us, but I'd probably rather have Roger or Muriel playing there for a different look in most situations, they have a better rounded game. Jhon is playing in a really attacking team, so he gets chances and he does battle, but I wouldn't be surprised if his goals regressed back down, I think he's over performing and although I think he should be an option for us clearly Duvan is the clear #1 and after that I'd still probably want a guy like Muriel/Roger in most cases up next.

In context , he had many weeks off due to the league corona postponement and still is in a groove goal wise.

Yes, he has some bad parts to his game and needs to polish up a lot of things but he is a hustler, very speedy and just knows how to use his body physically better than almost everyone other than maybe a healthy Duvan.

As for Muriel and Roger they seem to be viewed strictly as wingers/flank strikers by Queiroz. They have not played any (Seleccion) minutes at Target #9 from what I can remember so I think he is only battling Falcao and maybe Morelos and Santos Borre for a spot on the September roster.
In my mind he can contribute more than any of those guys up top but that is just my humble opinion. Those other guys have their strengths and weaknesses too.

Ya I'd put Falcao and Santos in there to get a shot. Muriel and Roger haven't played their for us recently but they've played their plenty but aren't really target 9's although Roger is pretty close to it. Yeah its difficult to judge after a few weeks off so can't really read to much into it, but will see how he progresses the rest of the way.

It would be nice to have better crossers for his style of game but he can score goals in many different ways.
Here are all of his goals so far this season:

His team is playing lousy but he has a nice assist. (Good hold up play and pass with his head from a long ball.)

And his match is unfortunately over due to what appears to be a knee injury in the 24th minute.

Hope and pray it is nothing too serious.

Unlucky :/ commentators on FS2 were speaking very highly of him. But yes hopefully nothing too serious definitely deserves a spot in the seleccion for the upcoming qualifiers.
