This all comes from the top. If Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney or John McCain were President, never mind *any* Democrat, your sentences wouldn't hold.
Trump is an arsonist and also a complete moron and incompetent. He is incapable of pivoting and using this moment to his advantage. He is definitely no Nixon. Having Biden as a candidate is a bit of silver lining as well. He can be seen as an experienced, calming hands that the country may need at this time in ways that Bernie would never been able to be.
What a contrast yesterday..... I think we’re done here ✋🏻 pic.twitter.com/DNa7kQ3fcv— ALBΞRT MacGloan (@AlbertMacGloan) June 1, 2020
Me too. Are we talking about the Charlemagne comment? Something tells me that when the 2020 history is written, and African-American affairs are discussed, that comment won't be near the top of the list.
Hopefully they didn't lose the most important Confederate document of all - "This is all about states' rights, dagnabbit!" scribbled at the top of a slave manifest.
Yeah, White people will love it. Can't speak for the Black community, but he's been silent so long I understand his voice might be dismissed. Billie Eilish grew and lives in a gentrified neighborhood which up until about 15+ years ago had been the home of poorer Latinos for decades. That neighborhood is literally across the bridge from where I grew up. As far as I know, she has never addressed that, so her speaking about something which is not in her neighborhood (of which she gained advantage) is something I am not giving a whole lot of consideration to.
"Gaffe" primarily means "Filler For The ********ing 24 Hour News Cycle" in this case. He could've given "a shout out to my ni**as" in Wilmington" yesterday, and it barely would've made a ripple.
I posted in here 2 days ago the qustion if he's already hiding under his desk. He read my post and said "I can do it better" and dived ito his bunker. It's probable he has no historic knowledge at all, otherwise he would realize he's enacting Hitler's last days.
I think there is a bit of rationality to it, but some not. Remember that video of the block party in Deltona which @ceezmad tried to say say shows #bothsides? Yeah, that was put out by the police and gave the message that Blacks are out of control. I will continue to say, propoganda But it is also about the high number of death from COVID-19 in the Black community which relate to systemic issues of health, which are then related to systemic issues of employment, education, incarcaration, etc. because is makes it far more difficult for the Black population to gain wealth to become treated as level (I'm deliberately not using the term "equal"). But I also agree that some of this is pent up frustration from been cooped up inside. One of the things I am wondering about the subversive elements is the targeting of more locally owned businesses. I say that because in the riot areas, I believe they are more likely to be minority/Black-owned. I know this is not absolute, and there are examples otherwise, but it would make sense to deprive Blacks from a route of wealth leading to some kind of level playing field. The looting, though, is also likely to be related to poverty. Some items will be taken to sell, some taken to use/replace, some because they are needed (I keep thinking the picture of the woman in New Orleans after Katrina with the diapers). It is not just the police attacking, it is just them dressed in riot gear when there is no rioting going on. I'm thinking of the MPD having how many officers surround Chauvin's home in riot gear? How many? That was not a line of police, that was a military wall. But it is also the stupidity of all the governors (26 of them) around the country bringing in the military. Why? Where do they think the military is going, the White suburbs? No, they are going to the urban areas where there is a high concentration of POC. That, too, exacerbates the issue. No longer is it just the police to "control" them, but now the military, even if much of the violent action is initiated by either the police or the White, subversive elements.
That guy has some track training. They way he started, the movement of his hands/arms. That guy might already be a running in college, or at least he was in high school.
I finally watched the full event this morning on this extremely well detailed NYT video. It is simply horrific. I still can't comprehend why the other three have not been apprehended yet. PS. Warning, it is hard to watch. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/31/...action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype=Homepage
Chicago police showed up without riot gear a couple of days back for what they assumed was a peaceful march, and they got their asses handed to them, because it wasn't a peaceful march.
Am I missing something, or are you attacking an ally? I hope Ellison makes a move very soon. About the charge...I always understood Chauvin wouldn't be charge with 1st degree murder. But there's a number between 1 and 3. To be convicted of 2nd degree murder, the prosecution would have to prove that during the 8:46, there was a change wrt intent. Like, when Floyd became unresponsive, and he kept his knee on his neck, that would support a 2nd degree charge. An attorney was talking about it on MSNBC this weekend, I think Maya Wiley. To me, a 2nd degree charge is fully warranted.
This is a turn back to another conversation but does anyone know of police officers being convicted and/or charge with felony murder in the performance of their duties?
The photo in this tweet struck me as particularly on point. there are two americas: one fights for black lives and the other fights for brunch pic.twitter.com/TFNsKghfmR— ziwe (@ziwe) May 31, 2020
I don't think it will be hard to slap him with 2nd Degree. At some point, one of the officers asked to turn Floyd on his back anf Chavin refused, keeping his knee on the guy's back. The other 3 have to be at least accessories of murder, particularly the 2 holding George, while telling him to stand up and get in the car.
1st AA to break baseball's color barrier. Drunk History did a segment on him too The legacy of Moses “Fleet” Fleetwood Walker as the first African-American to play professional baseball is changing the narrative of sports history. Born in Mount Pleasant, Ohio, and raised in Steubenville near the Ohio-West Virginia border, Walker played catcher during the 1884 season for the Toledo Blue Stockings of the American Association, which competed with the National League. Although Jackie Robinson is widely recognized as the first African-American to play in the Major Leagues, Walker is acknowledged by historians at the National Baseball Hall of Fame to actually be the first, six decades before Robinson suited up for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. https://theundefeated.com/features/...-baseball-six-decades-before-jackie-robinson/
To make sure I understand your question, do you really mean "felony murder" here? i.e. transfer of intent from one person to another? Which in this case would mean charging someone other than Chauvin with murder? If so, then no, I don't.
I'm amazed when any police officers get charged with murder at all. Not only have I not heard of an officer being charged under felony murder, it's hard for me to even imagine.
DeBlasio's daughter got arrested at the protests. The NY sergeant's union tweeted out a copy of her arrest report. NOT some rando cop. The UNION. The dog needs to be caged.
