Just keep staying home while the world around you burns and hospitals are overrun, first with protesters, then the millions they've infected.
I've been doing that since March. Hell, if herd immunity is a real thing, let all these people get infected right quick! I've got a few acres, a greenhouse, some chickens and I'm stocked up on everything else I'd need to get me through a couple more months!
So this is the source of what you believe is going to lead to all the new infections: But not, let's say, this: Or this: Even in that second picture I can count more people without masks than I can in that first picture. Now, obviously there are probably a lot more people not wearing masks that I can see in that picture. But of all the pictures you can find from Memorial Day weekend it is easy to see most people aren't wearing masks. So the people you are mad at right now, who are protesting what they believe is systemic racism by the police and a pattern of violence against black individuals, show more restraint in wearing masks than people who just were tired of being inside. Yet it is the former you are going to blame the future infections on.
Who said I don't blame them all? But the protests are worst in current hotspots like new York and Los Angeles.
Ditto. Got a freezer full of beef from a guy I buy sides from, a huge garden and 3 stupid dogs to watch over it all. And I'm worried that this will cause the mods to faint dead away, let me just note that I don't think very many of the 15 million AR 15 owners in America regret the purchase today.
I'm not dignifying the 15 million AR-15 owners comment except to speculate how it would have played out if yesterday's protesters had been carrying guns, like the white protestors at state capitals did. Rather, I have a photography question for sitruc - isn't the boardwalk photo above hard to interpret because of the foreshortening effect? Except for the people obviously walking together I can't tell how close people really are.
I'm going to speculate that many of the rioters (not the protesters) can't lawfully possess firearms.
While I certainly can’t speak for the entire country, up here in Seattle the “rioters” were primarily white males, so... Yes. They more than likely could have carried...
They should just open up stadiums at this point. As long as everyone takes a mask everyone should be alright. We don't need this stupid tournament that MLS proposed.
MLS has given the MLSPA until Tuesday to accept their latest offer for CBA concessions and the Plan for the mini-competition in Orlando or they will be locked out. I’m hearing @MLS has given @MLSPA till Tuesday noon to accept their final proposal. If they refuse the players would be locked out. I reached out to a high ranking official within the league who respectfully declined to comment.— herculez gomez (@herculezg) June 1, 2020 It’s worth a reminder that even tho the MLSPA agreed to a new CBA before the start of the season, it was never actually finalized before the season was shutdown.
Pretty much the stupidest move the owners could make. I'm assuming this is just saber rattling and I can't believe they'd actually lock them out.
Well this seems foolhardy by MLS. Players are free agents if they’re locked out, no? Wonder how that will work out once players realize they can just bounce.
Active cases in the United States have fallen for 2 straight days for the first time. Mostly driven by New York's fast dropoff. Hard to imagine this trend continuing long with re-openings and protests. Also, today was the third lowest daily number of deaths since March 29th. If only we had the patience to stay home for another month we might be in a similar situation to western Europe... EDIT - active cases situation not as rosy as it seems. NOTE on today's large increase in recoveries. Illinois has added Recoveries to their dashboard, specifically a "Recovery Rate" of 92% indicating that "Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date > 42 days who have not expired. Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and deceased cases." This means the number of recovered is: deaths / 8 * 92 = 5,390 / 8 * 92 = 61,985 As for new cases, they had their usual Sunday dip, but the previous two Sundays were even lower. Second EDIT - California followed their highest number of cases in a single day with the highest number of cases on a Sunday. And that's with testing centers in L.A. shut down. California released tons of praise early on in the pandemic but are quickly turning into a hotspot.
Having all teams finish their season is no longer an option for the NBA... https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...ted-approve-adam-silver-restart-plan-thursday
The only hope is the summer respite due to higher heat and humidity. Of course that will mean this comes roaring back come the first of the year.
What would have changed from the last time the white protestors protested? I don’t recall riots and looting at the state capitals. Thx, Jay!
Who would have thought the NWPL would be the league to survive? If the players are so set against Orlando, maybe a lockout is for the best for the owners, until the CBA is ratified. Then work on the concessions for this season. At some point it makes no sense in cobbling together a quarter-assed season with a super fake champ if they have to pay full freight while taking in zero revenue. I’ve got DC United, Nashville and Philadelphia in my MLS Death Pool. Wait, did we miss something here? From @MLSPA: "This evening, MLS Players voted to approve a package of economic concessions for the 2020 season, modifications to the recently agreed-upon CBA, including its extension by a year, and their agreement to participate in a summer tournament in Orlando."— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) June 1, 2020 Thx, Jay!
Not everyone is going to wear a mask. Some people find them uncomfortable or claustrophobic, and others will rebel due to their disdain towards the system. I don't like the tournament, either, but this country did do a piss-poor job in handling the virus.
