Gio on the break- shot pushed just wide. Great save there. Damn that was close.

#5. Schmeltzer with first goal in over 100 matches. Gio with the hockey assist.

Did he? I just watched it and am somewhat baffled where the heck he went.

EDIT: Never mind, I'm a goal behind.

Reyna hit even as he passes to Witzel, who crosses to Schmeltzer for a tap-in.

Dumped again on the lead-up to a goal. MLS assist, after a near score from him which forced a finger-tip save from the keeper, and a corner.

Gio's played really really well since he came on. Just a fantastic player.

That Sancho hattrick goal was spurred by a fantastic pass under pressure by Gio

Can Favre finally get it thru his head that gio deserves more than 10 minutes in every game

Defensive intervention in the box and then another MLS assist. Hit the pressure release valve who found Sancho on the break. That time they didn't dump Reyna. Maybe should have to prevent the counter.

I'm really hoping we see a little more than a 10 minute cameo from Reyna next game. When's BVB's next game?

The timing for his knock in training was really poor. Was slated to start. Outside of that, feet have been dragged a little, both in making xi's and entering earlier. But it's been nothing egregious, just frustrating.

I realize his age but when he’s on the pitch I don’t see a 17 year old, I see an extremely talented player that should be getting way more than scrap minutes, but who knows maybe coach knows something we don’t about the injury he had and is incorporating him slowly

Yeah, involved (somewhat) in three goal sequences. The unlocking pass on goal 5 was a very cheeky back-heel while being fouled. Inches from his first league goal (although wasn’t the strongest of shots- it was a good save, but one that top league keepers should make every time). Good play overall. Showed some really toughness. Speed of thought and speed of execution are good. Toughness seems to be there. He might be destined for a top tier English club eventually.

Seriously... Gio is a fantastic talent and looks very comfortable and dangerous out there for a teenager. But are you really starting him over Brandt, Sancho and Hazard at this point? Hazard has been by far the best player since the return, Brandt has proven his quality over the course of the year and did so again today and Sancho is Sancho... at least today was the first time he looked like himself since the crisis. I did think Gio might get more of a look today since there has been a lot of games lately and Cookie Monster is injured. But if you think about the way the game went down it looked like the proper lineup. Just a serious bummer that the keeper had to make that kind of stop. That was a perfect shot and absolutely sic save. At this point I just expect more of the same for Gio... late-game sub for one of the best teams in Europe. Not at all bad for a kid his age. His time will come....

Watched 77 minutes of no-Gio, got pulled away by a small household plumbing emergency, missed the last 10+ and now I am very sad.

Guess I'll have to watch it on replay.

Look at that. Mood change! (Thanks for the PBP folks.)

Thinking ahead with USMNT in mind, but otherwise this totally Dortmund related!!!!

If Adams is #6, Wes #8 who is a better central mid Gio or Pulisic? My vote goest to Gio. Any chance Favre or another Dortmund coach will play him there? Can't tell from highlights whether he's out wide or central

He was more central. By the end of the game, looks like he was up top by himself.
