I think it’s crazy to hold back Odegaard for another season. He isn’t some prospect anymore, the guy will be 22 in December and is ready to contribute now. He’s a player we desperately could’ve used this season.

Our midfield is predictable and in need of a different look.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't retire here.

He did mention that he'd like to finish his career in Lyon. Still don't see it happening.

There's plenty of players with an air of uncertainty : Asensio, Isco, Vinicius,
Benzema until 2024. Then as a coach the season after.

I don't think there is a player besides Mbappe that we would even consider such an option

Would you take him despite his injury problems. Especially after the Hazard injuries.

Pogba? I’d take him if a very good offer comes up, otherwise I wouldn’t pay it much attention and I don’t think Perez is either.

I like him but we’re not desperate for that type of player anymore as we’ve enough midfield centre-mid/ attacking-mid talent at the club already.

True but ZZ makes players great. Pogba has natural talent it's scary to think about his performance under Zidane. I agree it's neither here nor there but it goes down the fee which I think will be affordable after this season.

I know none of this stuff is probably true but, the question for me would be what are we bringing Pogba for?, if it’s to score goals then James is better than him at that throughout his career, so if it’s about attacking and creating which is the only reason I see for Pogba James has proven to be better, even though Pogba has a bigger hype profile.

if it’s to be a box to box player well James isn’t that but, neither is Pogba IMO, so I really don’t see the point at all, we have Valverde and bring Odegaard back who we already own, the only way any of that swap stuff makes sense is if ZZ insists, I do see a small window where, if we can afford to, we should try to give the coach the players he wants, that’s it.

I hate to say this but James for me is almost as much of a non factor to our success as Bale is. The guy can never seem to keep fit for us to be able to rely on him long or even mid-term.

Doni, I respect your dislike for Bale but you’re just a bit off here.

Whether we like Bale or not there is no denying he has showed big time for our club in big moments. Via fortune or whatever you want to call it Bale has had a strong impact on this club in (some) big matches.

I love me some James, very talented player (more talent than Bale) but he’s never even come close to being a crucial piece in our triumphs in any way.

Ive kept up hope for James for a long time but at some point we need to accept reality. He’s getting older and is no longer a valued a commodity. It is what it is, Zidane is way more valuable as a coach for us than James is a player.

    Time to move on...

I’m talking about the future, as in where James fits and who we would or wouldn’t accept as his replacement.

True, but I was just addressing the swap rumours that exist right now, and to be honest in the last year or so, neither James or Pogba have been the epitome of “fitness” , so I’d say that’s not a positive part of the equation for either player

Jose Felix Diaz warns of a summer without any signings.

he says the top priority right now is cutting costs. Not just sales of players, but also curbing expenses at every level

Bring back Odegaard, Hakimi, Reguilon and sell past it players. I am fine with that. I expect most big clubs to have a quiet summer.

I am fine with that, but I hope we can get at least Camavinga done. That shouldn’t be a massive fee anyway
