That's my assumption, but wondered if there was confirmation. TBF I haven't gone in very deep.

Bobby's so deep in the dog house I don't think he's in the stadium.

He's most definitely pulling a Constanza. Stay strong Bob!

Stupid game for HSV. Lost in ET on a break... Should locked up the point.

    Bad decision making.

PK for each in this one, HSV score off a 1st half header, and as mentioned above, no Wood.

2 years younger than Wood and come on loan in Winter from Bayer Leverkusen, Finnish CF Pohjanpalo.

already at 7 goals in 10 games since his loan for HSV.

yeah they don't need Wood and Pohjanpalo has had numerous injury issues since he 1st came on for Bayer but has done well in both 1BL and 2BL.

A Finnish striker who can score is a popular item right now (wait I can think of only 1 other, Peeku).

They don’t need Wood but they do need to pay him for one more year. What a signing for HSV.

Nice gig if you can get it. Kid needs to start working on those coaching badges.

There were contacts to the USA in winter, but they broke up. Wood is a top earner and many clubs cannot afford this amount. He goes into his last contract year in the summer. As the Morgenpost reports, HSV Wood could then offer to terminate the contract with a severance payment. This model then saves some money and has already been practiced by other professionals in previous years. Wood is one of the last faces of the first relegation in club history in May 2018.

Bobby should stick there for the last penny, because with his bad knee, his career is basically over.

Is his knee so bad that he probably wont have opportunities in lesser leagues once he returns to reasonable market wages?

I don't think anyone knows for sure but it's meaningful HSV is not even putting him in the squad at all.

agreed. His next contract will most likely be a short “price it” one. If he’s still good, he can translate into a bigger contract and if his body is shot, he’s done.

I see no reason for him to give up guaranteed compensation.

Who the hell is going to pay him one red cent if he can't make a 2BL matchday squad? We know he is a good striker, at least good enough to play regularly in the 2BL. If he's not on the roster, it's because the kid can't run anymore. He's toast. He's either got to look into business school or coaching.

people come back from injuries and it’s possible that Hamburg is punishing him as part of contract negotiation. Its doubtful but a prove it contract shouldn’t be expensive.

he was given chances in 1st team this season and he impressed no one.

got 2 starts and was so bad in his 2nd one he was subbed out in 46st min. That was his last involvement with the club.

like every HSV coach says that Wood will make it and they back him to do so and were all wrong as he never payed back the trust.

I wasn't aware of a specific injury that he is rehabbing from?

if so, he should really thank Hamburg;s owner for doubling his wages after just 1 season in the Bundesliga.

If Aaron Johansson could get a contract at the top end of the Allsvenskan, there's no reason why Bobby can't get a deal in BL2

there is Aaron was free transfer, Wood still has 2021 contract at HSV. No one is going to spend that money. Wood hasn't done much in like one and half years now. Why risk him in 2BL if you want promotion or safety?

he also didn't impress in 2BL this season when he did play.

It's been a chronic issue with him. Frankly it's surprising he managed to play pro-soccer at all, he already had 2 knee surgeries by the age of 20:

    https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2018/07/five-things-you-should-know-about-bobby-wood

On the radar of the U.S. Men’s National Team program, Wood was invited into then U-20 head coach Thomas Rongen’s camp one month later, but suffered a meniscus injury that put him out for the remainder of the German season. Having returned at the start of the new campaign, Wood re-injured his knee while away with the U.S. U-23s in November 2011, and two corrective surgeries later was close to calling it quits on his career.

    ----
Check his injury history in Transfermarkt, or just Google for "Bobby Wood Hamburg injury" and you'll find time and again "has to miss N games due to knee issues."

Hamburg hosted Sandhausen today at home. All that was necessary to cement a showdown against Werder Bremen in the promotion/relegation playoff was 1 point.

Hamburg lost 5-1 and will remain in the 2. Bundesliga for the final season of Wood's contract.

Heidenheim lost 3-0 at champions Arminia Bielefeld, so HSV only needed a single point to qualify for the playoff on GD.

Expect him to prepare for 1 hell of a season to secure a worthy next contract somewhere.
