Catch the highlights from the first-ever @ColoradoRapids match at DSGP back in 2007 #Rapids96 https://t.co/1Y0KmXkp4m pic.twitter.com/fSVAmSYU2t— Burgundy Wave (@Burgundywave) March 26, 2020 Includes a link to a list of players in the XVIII and what they are doing now. Mastroeni didn't start! Does anyone have one of Bouna's shirts he sold as a fund raiser? I missed out on that.
Not sure this is the right place for this, but here's the first ever Rapids' goal: '48 GOALLLLLLLLLL!@marcelobalboa17 SCORES THE FIRST EVER RAPIDS GOAL 🙌#Rapids96 | #COLvDAL pic.twitter.com/BlkQRong8K— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) March 29, 2020

Brian Mullan won five MLS Cups, including one with his hometown Rapids in 2010. A decade later, he’s putting his heart and soul into helping stem the tide of COVID-19 as a nurse in Colorado. https://t.co/wwzsYxyYld by @SeanKeeler— Denver Post Rapids (@rapidsnews) May 7, 2020
Stand up dude. It does't suprise me in the least that Brian is thriving and work those front lines. He's a leader. Always has been. My respect for him, while already high, just went up a notch. I love to see these ex-MLS players in their "new" careers fighting this virus just as they approached the game of football.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...er-josh-gatt-signs-irish-champions-dundalk-fc Looks like Gatt is in Ireland.
I was just about to post this. Tell you what....the dude has a love and a drive for the game that’s matched by few. My hat goes off to Josh. Also he’s a helluva human. I had a couple of interactions with Josh as a ‘Pid and he’s a standup guy. He and his wife has been through so much yet he’s stayed positive throughout adversity.
When Micheal Azira came to America, it was nothing like he expected. The @ChicagoFire midfielder shares how he went from playing soccer with plastic bags and bricks in Uganda to making a name for himself in the @MLS.https://t.co/MH35OgqEF4— The Players' Tribune (@PlayersTribune) June 29, 2020
Looks like a number of teams want Nicholson over in the UK. One site has a poll up for fans to vote and it is overwhelmingly positive toward getting him. I always enjoyed his work and would have loved to see his speed in Orlando when FSL is tired. Here is one article:. https://the72.co.uk/177307/bristol-rovers-set-sights-on-scottish-winger-from-colorado-rapids/
I evaluate Nicholson as been better than League 1 quality. If I were a Bristol Rovers fan I too would be excited to land him. I'm thinking more of the Championship if we're talking English football for him. Bristol has really done a great job of redeveloping the harbor which most likely went into disrepair in the 70s and it's a very cycling friendly city with a good rail connection to London via Great Western. Plus, it's close to Stonehenge and not too far from Lands End. Oh, and Bath is one stop up the line towards London.
Amir Lowery is running for Congress https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020/06/15/why-former-mls-player-amir-lowery-running-congress
Shane O'Neill made a cameo for Seattle at outside back coming in for Kelvin Leerdam in the 90th minute or so of the match tonight v SJ.
This came up in my Facebook feed this morning, Stefan Aigner at Wiesbaden. This was my local club when I lived there. It seems like he's doing well there.
It is sooooooooooooo weird to see Timmy wearing anything but a Rapids kit and it took a while for me to get over him not wearing an Everton kit. Anyways.......I am watching Timmy and his Memphis 901 crew get slaughter by Birmingham Legion 3-0 on ESPN. I hope the USL continues to show matches ESPN and not just ESPN Plus. It’s enjoyable and the standard is rising.
Nicholson is about to sign with Bristol Rovers https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman....ts-winger-sam-nicholson-next-24-hours-2920134
A bit of a personal connection on this one. Aitor Karanka is the new manager of Birmingham City. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sp...irmed-birmingham-city-announce-aitor-18698162 Birmingham is my English club (most of you probably already know this, but I was an exchange student in Solihull when I was in high school). It's their sixth manger in four years and, much like the Rapids, they have a dogshit owner. I know how to pick 'em don't I?
One of my fav ‘Pids and fellow native Jackson, Mississippian, Marlon Hairston got on the scoresheet as MN United dismantled SJ 4-1 In the MIB Quarterfinals.
Solihull = Land Rover but Aston Villa is the team that they were shirt sponsor for many years ago -- I have one? To put that in proper Rapids alum. perspective it was in the 86th minute garbage time with a 2 goal lead already and kind of a 'look what I found' or 'clean up the trash' goal but Marlon was still on fire after scoring. And on Friday another Rapids alumnus, Jordon Harvey, very solidly struck the crossbar in KFTM for LAFC to help Orlando and a former Rapids coach, or some say Pariah, through to the semi-finals.
I was watching it with the fam and we all agreed it was a very Rapids moment. You can take the player off the team, but there will always be a little part left.
