Another thing of note, this is like a third season for Vinicius and a second season for Rodrygo in terms of their mental and phsyical acclimation and development.

That period of down time allowed things to slow down and for them to adjust. I expect to see both players showing growth and progress when things kick off in June

His value declines with every single loan deal we make though.

I like all that, but like Prit said I would keep Asensio and lose Ceballos.

    Maybe a loan for Ceballos whilst Zidane is in charge. Isco will play in midfield not as a winger so;
Asensio , Rodrygo, Vinicius , Hazard, jovic and Benzema

@YOUNGSTARS87 I dig that squad you listed but I don’t think Marcelo or Modric are leaving this year. And it doesn’t seem like Rennes are gonna sell Camavinga without us laying out some big $. So maybe we sign a backup DM who can be dispelled easily enough later on, and roll with the same midfield again + Odegaard. Not saying I want that, but just doesn’t seem like Luka is pushing to move or that we will push to move him this summer.

In attack, I agree with your setup but as other mentioned Asensio might stay while a youngster leaves on loan.

It can't get any lower. It's not like he was that valuable before Arsenal anyways.

I agree. Just like I know Isco, Asensio and Lucas won't be leaving. In the end, in my opinion this hurts us.

I was only saying my personal opinion of what I would do if I had control. What I know will occur is completely different (deadweight staying and continuing to anchor our growth).

So what do you do with him? Just loan him out? Where's the point in that?

I’m with you. Lucas and Marcelo should be gone, Hakimi back and playing RB/LB with Dani and Mendy. Nacho as the backup to those 3. Modric I’d keep another year but ensure Odegaard gets proper PT. RW I’m stumped. I really would like to see Vini learn to play there as well, so he and Rodrygo could alternate, with Vini spelling Hazard on the left obviously.

The implantation of the Brazilians as key players isn’t simple. Curious to see how we handle them. Not to mention Reinier.

I would keep him and loan out Asensio. Asensio for me could find his next level with a loan deal and having uninterrupted minutes.

Ceballos at this point is just a squad player. Even if he did get loaned out to a La Liga club it would take a significant performance for that perspective to change.

I wouldn't because he would demand time we should really be giving to Valverde and Odegaard.

We really need the Brazilian kids to step up; starting with this season re-start. If not we are going to be stuck with inconsistency of Isco and Asensio there.

Modric will demand some time but he is at an age where rotating him makes sense, while easing in Odegaard. Kroos is tough because when he is playing well he is top notch but when he isn’t and we need something more, whether in attack or defense we have a few other options that can be tried.

My thing is, is Odegaard really gonna come in and start right away? I just don’t see it, not with Zidane. Unless something changes drastically with Modric wanting out for a change of scenery or a backup DM not happening and forcing Valverde to be played more at DM when Casemiro needs a rest while spelling Kroos too.

For me, I’d start Kroos-Valverde-Casemiro most matches, but figure out a way to use Modric and maybe Ceballos if he is around while getting a vet DM on loan if Camavinga ain’t moving. Leave Odegaard at Sociedad another year, while sending another youngster to them to develop chemistry with MO. Just don’t see Luka moving and I wouldn’t bring in Odegaard unless he did. All indications are that Kroos is staying for a few more years. Unless Zidane is willing to sit him more we can’t have the flexibility we’d all like to see in the middle.

Seems like this season Modric is already not much of a starter. It's hard to say since it hasn't been a full season, and Zidanes team selection was kinda erratic, but it looked like our starting three midfielders are Kroos, Casemiro, and Fede.

I do agree that maybe its not time for Odegaard just yet. We already have an AM that can be played in midfield in Isco, so until one (or both) of Modric and Isco leave it doesn't make sense to bring him in. If I was running the team though, I would make way for him and bring him back.

Modric already isn't a starter so there really isn't space for him to share minutes with Odegaard who will need to play quite a bit

That is unless Zidane relies heavily on 442 instead of 433. However with this I'm not sure how Hazard will adapt.

From what we have seen and read Zidane is a fan. He'll probably slowly bring him in like Valverde and when Odegaard takes the reigns he will let him run wild.

I don't believe we have this luxury this season. We need to make a shift and not continue to delay the inevitable.

Anyways, hopefully one of this La Liga teams can inspire some victory against barca and we can win out. Winning something would at least help inspire confidence..

Modric has been unimpressive in most of the games he has started. We tend to drop points in those games due to no Fede as well. He's clearly on decline since 2018 World Cup. We need to bring in Odegaard and have a 4 midfielder rotation of Kroos, Fede, Case and Odegaard plus a back up for Casemiro. Can't reach the level we were before with Modric still being a huge part of the rotation. Needs fresh, energetic players badly.

I don't think he wants to stay I don't think we believe in him at this point. We didn't pay much for him, so we can easily recover the cost.

Didn't he just have a recent interview saying how he is a Real Madrid player and his goal is to succeed at the club?

He's been just okay at Arsenal. To be fair he played better under Arteta than Unai. I like Odegaard and thinks he deserves more GT than Dani

if we get a decent sale value he is gone we only paid 18m, so if we get just under £20m hes gone, maybe even retain a sale on value.

How many attacking midfielders do we need FFS, a defensive midfielder is the priority and has been for a while

Club only had plans for Modric until 2019-20 as well. Additional year was invoked due to Ballon D'or clause which frankly no one expected Modric to win when they extended when Ron was at RM.

Its time to get rid of him, unless he accepts to be 6th choice.

And yet I keep reading that the club has no intention of forcing Luka out but will let him decide if he wants to move on or not, I have no idea if that’s actually true or not, but if it is, something doesn’t quite add up with that supposed plan, personally don’t mind having Luka for one more season, would much prefer if Isco was the player to make way for Odegaard, but that is probably the least likely scenario

Odegaard will return if Modric is gone. Florentino wants to give the player the option to remain or go.

Maybe the club wants to change treatment of legendary players.

Modric will get a multi year offer from Inter probably. Let's see if he will take it. We will let him go for free if he wants, I think.
