Our federation does a poor job at that actually. Erik Ferigra, Omar Carabali have said that they wanted to Play for Spain and Chile. Omar because Ecuador never gave him opportunities and Erik Ferigra because he said he doesnt know anything about Ecuadorian soccer and was waiting to get called to spain U20.

Guys like Kike Saverio, and Jeremy Sarmiento and other young Ecuadorian players in Europe have yet to been called up to youth NT. This might change going forward but so far they done a poor job at that.

I find it really hard for John to pick Ecuador TBH. He probably doesnt speak Spanish he will have to naturalize him self as Ecuadorian and maybe give up a nationality. I assume since he has Ghana nationality his dad want him to play for Ghana. But looking at him I think his first option would be Germany then Ghana. I really would love to see him play for Ecuador but odds are very little of that actually happening.

Either way I think Ecuador after their Cinderella run in the U 20 World Cup...I think it is safe to say the future of Ecuadorian football is in good shape

We are hoping so We had the chance of Golden era slip in the past it really depends on how our federation organizes everything and if the national team gets a good coach because there are a lot of Ecuadorian clubs building up on youth development Independiente del Valle, Aucas, El Nacional, Barcelona SC, CS Norte America to name a few and the Ecuadorian league/ Clubs are growing and getting better hence Independiente del Valle and our U20 squads recent success.

New FEF is making changes it a gamble really to see how it will play out. They arent fully organized and there is still alot of issues in our federation. But our youth talent is promising. Cant wait till WCQ and international friendlies come back.

Thanks man. Yea 2010 and 2018 WCQ are good examples of us letting our Golden eras slip and in 2014 we fell apart once we qualified. Ill def be rooting for Ghana once WCQ starts up again and if you guys make it to the WC.

I mean Ecuador in 2014 they were not that bad honestly. I mean against Switzerland, you guys had them beat and on the ropes but for some reason were not able to get it done. But then against France, it all fell apart. But then against Honduras, I don't really remember that game all that much but Ecuador was talented in 2014.

But in 2022, all you guys really need is a good manager but who can lead this team?

I mean you guys have a Dutchman, Johan Cruyff's son Jordi as manager...so you guys look all right but if he doesn't stay on I mean there's Pekerman, Klinsmann, Martino

The issues was that we went to defend for 90 min vs Switzerland had we played a little more offensively we would have won. I say we fell apart because multiple injuries and issues came up between players locker room issues that sort of stuff. The death of Christian Benitez was a hard hit for us for that WCQ. The Honduras match we dominated and vs France we managed to have a decent game but came out with a 0:0 tie.

I always say it in a perfect world we would have a coach like peckerman or martino but we dont have the money to get them. When I say our federation is gambling Cruyff is one of those gambles. He is really inexperienced.

What I can say is good about him. His father created modern football the attacking playing style that made south american soccer obsolete. Of course he follows his father philosophy to the letter and will implement it to all his teams. Granted this works we can see Ecuador finally play modern appealing attacking football and not be the team that only defends and counters for 90min.

The bad... he doesnt have much experiance to his name the few he does were short and were not in very competative leagues. He knows nothing about Ecuadorian soccer, South american soccer or what it like to coach a team at this level. CONMEBOL WQC are no joke every team is improving and becoming more and more competative.

I was very worried for our first wcq matches because him and our federation didnt seem to be doing much to prepare for this Cruyff was constantly going to Spain because he is also a commentator so he was really getting distracted. That another issue i see with him. But he is what we have for now and i really hope he succeeds.

Jordan Sierra, Jefferson Orejuela, Alan Franco, Jefferson Intriago, Carlos Gruezo are other good options for our mid field for now.

And right backs Cristian Ramirez can also play right and Pedro Perlaza, Pedro Velasco would also be the options for now. Left back we got a bunch look into Pervis Estupinan he is our best player in Europe right now along with Gonzalo Plata and we have Diego Palacios, Anibal Chala.

Center Back for now id say Fernando Leon and Robert Arboleda are the best options we have now.

However, Ecuador did come close to qualifying for Russia 2018 but lost that must win game against Argentina where Messi scored that unforgettable hat trick. If he hadn't, Ecuador would have won and they would have gone to Russia.

2022 however, I would say Ecuador definitely has more of a chance this time around to qualify

We had multiple chances to qualify multiple must win games we let go. We started off so strong and fell apart. It was mostly the coaches fault he got to cocky and practically ruined this team and our WCQ campaign.

I really hope we start producing good goal keepers soon I want to see them in Europe. We always have promising young GK but they always have discipline issues John Jaramillo, Javier Navareno, Aryton Morales all these guys should have been solid gk right now. Even Johan Padilla admitted to having discipline issues luckily he fixed it in time.

The last batch of promising gk was

    Johan Padilla
    Brian Heras
    Hamilton Piedra
    Darwin Cuero
    Gonzalo Valle
    Leonel Nazareno
    Erik Viveros
    Javier Nazareno
    José Gabriel Cevallos
    Ayrton Morales
    Deny Mideros
    Edisson Recalde
    Xavier Cevallos
    John Jaramillo

out of all of them only Johan Padilla and Brian Heras are doing well and playing 90 min in Seria A. There still time for them but I was hoping they would have gotten a lot farther by now.

    The current batch now is
    Moises Ramirez
    Joan Lopez
Omar Carabali ( Who wants to play for Chile)
    Gabriel Hanewinkel

Then Ecuador's midfield/wingers is another issue to sort through

Id say strikers are our biggest issue ATM. Felipe Caicedo Retired from the NT. Enner Valencia is in a poor form and There arent many good options to replace them for now. I think the best thing to do for now would be to have Fidel Martinez and Angel Mena as strikers up front. They play mostly on wings but have been scoring a high number of goals lately.

Every center midfielder that has been doing well in Ecuador has made the jump aboard to the point where I see no interesting center midfielders left in the Ecuadorian league. We started to lack wingers but im sure we will have new players coming up soon and can get by with what we have for now. Anderson Julio, Alexander Alvarado and of course Gonzalo Plata coming up for now.
