Joao Victor looks like the most likely candidate to make way for Uly. Been average so far and just picked up an unnecessary yellow.

This is devolving to openly showing contempt toward youth. Nothing to lose, extra subs, we'll leave them in our pocket instead of playing them. That's worse than your typical EPL club.

I guess he meant it when he said you have to have made your professional debut to make your professional debut. And we're sending multiple promising youths to this club of all German organizations.

This complaint doesn't hold as much weight when the second sub today (Marmoush) is making his senior debut.

oh, absolutely. i dont love that theres another outside mid just breaking in, but then again i dont know that thats where they see him playing anyways (exclusively, at least). didnt he play centrally quite a bit with the youth squad?

being up 4 goals after 80-some minutes, having only made 2 subs it just seemed like a perfect scenario to run him out.

I absolutely would. Or at least I’d hire someone to do it. And that someone would scour the DA and YNT pages and report to a scout or a few scouts who would watch DA games

He's 21 and had played in the Egyptian top flite. Maybe Uly can go on loan there first and then debut for Wolfsburg in about 3 yrs when they have an insurmountable lead or deficit. Wolfsburg, and their established, aggressive system of integration.

I'd love to see Llanez play and succeed there. Not getting subbed in with a 4-0 lead and 5 subs = you're not in their plans.

Was pretty disappointed not to see him today.

If he makes the bench next week I have to imagine we see him at some point.

Of the Wolfsburg wingers that are injured are any of them expected to come back this season?

I'd make all of my scouting decisions based off of BS conventional wisdom.... but I may not be the best one to ask. ;)

They also had May (21), Horn (21), and Justvan (22) from the U23, all yet to make their debut. Marmoush had been on the bench for at least their last couple of games. Not seeing the field on your first matchday in the squad isn't the end of the world.

High praise, from a questionable source:

Jörg Schmadtke a constant observer of his own offspring, "is very clear in his actions, strong in one-on-one and in the end."

A year ago, when she came of age, Llanez signed the contract with VfL.

From Los Angeles to Wolfsburg - "the changeover was not easy,"

The article makes me feel a bit better about his situation at Wolfsburg. They re-affirm that Wolfsburg wanted him to be part of their January training, but acceded to Berhalter's request for him to come to US camp. It also says that including him in the first team now is to show that they have a vision for him with the first team, but he needs to translate what he showed at the U-19 level to first team training. It seems like his inclusion this spring really is a trial run, and he's unlikely to see many (any) minutes, but they do have long-term interest in him.

I would give it a little bit of time. I do get the sense that when coaches bring guys up it's a tiered process. First time making the bench, first time getting a sub appearance, and eventually first start. It's not that linear, but I think ideally, that is their process of acclimatization for young players. I'd be bothered if he was rotting on the subs bench for months on end. For a weekend pair of matches, it's nothing to lose your ---- over and it's worth mentioning that 2.5 years ago, very few people on these boards were screaming bloody murder along with me and some others about the totally moronic 1000% asinine decision to leave Uly off the '17 U17 World Cup team. That's coaching malpractice. This, not so much.

This guy may or may not be an idiot, I'm not speaking to that, I'm just speaking to the perfectly reasonable idea that coaches may want to bring along teenagers slowly and that, in and of itself, isn't insane, and strikes me as reasonable. I just expect him to get some run, and a couple of appearances before the season wraps, if that doesn't happen, then it's time to get a bit irate.

The Kicker article was not a critical analysis of Uly or anything, it was just an introduction type article, since most readers would be asking "who is this kid"? And the article just goes over his history and gets some comments from coaches past and present.

And yes, it is 100% normal to bring in a young guy to the bench before actually getting minutes. It is part of transitioning from youth team to men's team. Obviously, there are always exceptions of guys brought up and played immediately, but that is not really the norm.
