Gotta be a trial balloon/decoy. Pence and Kaine weren't picked until July 2016, according to a quick Google search. Wikipedia says that Obama didn't pick Biden until late August 2008. I think/hope Biden's campaign is taking advantage of clinching the nomination early. It sure seemed like Stacey Abrams and Amy Klobuchar were just put out there to be dunked on, softening up the public for either Kamala or Warren. I'd pick Duckworth, myself, but literally no one is asking
My theory has always been that those "sources" that talked to CBS had Minnesota area codes on their phones. My own picks have been Duckworth and Val Demings.
He backed himself into a corner by saying eh'd pick a woman, or more recently, a Black woman. He really should have said he'd pick the best person possible, period. And if it is someone of a certain demographic, so be it, but if it's a white man who A) will help him win the election and B) is someone who would be able to step in as President, as he has said, and C) will complement his administration, so be it. He could also say that his administration will "look like America," meaning there will be plenty of women and non-whites in significant roles that fit their skill set. In other words, he's not going to appoint a doctor to be in charge of housing.
Honestly, I can't see how a male democratic nominee could, by these days and ages, pick an other male as his VP nominee. That would not go well with the Democratic base. Picking a woman, specially with all the eminently qualified pool we have today, is a no brainer.
OK, I should have phrased it better... rumors and talk of him picking a Black woman... So if he picked (just as an example) someone like Gov. Cuomo, who has been highly visible during this crisis and has been seen nationally generally in a positive light wouldn't help Biden? I guess what it really comes down to is a handful of swing states, places like Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, W'scaaahnsn and a few others. Trump one almost all the toss-ups by a very narrow margin. As long as Biden can disrupt Yuri and Sergei's scheme in those states and win the Blue states that he should and a few of the toss-ups, he should be OK.
Once again Tammy Duckworth was born in Thailand. It is likely she would not be eligible. She is awesome, though.
But it's not the same situation, because Ted Cruz is Republican and different rules apply to Republicans. Not joking. Ted Cruz's birthplace was a non-issue, but Tammy Duckworth's, although factually similar, would be a huge issue.
Slightly different. McCain was born to American parents in a U.S. Territory. Same as Barry Goldwater who was born in the Arizona Territory before it became a state.
He needs to pick Kamala and adopt Warren's platform planks for Indian Country & Anti-Corruption reform - leave Warren in place now - if the Senate flips, push for her to be Majority Leader so she can dunk on McConnell weekly if he manages to hold on
Yes, her father was, but that is not the issue. The question would be hammered by the Republicans all campaign season. Of course, using the Congressional Research Service's line of logic, she would be eligible. Also, Obama was eligible even if he HAD been born in Kenya, since his mother was born in the US. There were numerous lawsuits over Ted Cruz' eligibility. By the way, Cruz would not be eligible through his father. His father was granted asylum. He only became a US citizen in 2005. Oh, and he killed JFK, of course. His mother was born in the USA. I think she is the closer analogue to Duckworth's dad.
I will be honest. I don't remember one single attack that Donald Trump made on Ted Cruz's eligibility. Maybe he did, but if so that was very much a sidelight of Trump's campaign, as well as of other of Ted's opponents. I don't remember any handwriting editorials, either.

Yeah, she was on CNN the other night and she sounded an awful lot like Susan Collins, being "concerned" and "disturbed" about the whole thing. And the anchor actually pointed out something about her track record as a prosecutor, and how she never went after cops in similar situations in the past...
So Amy out for VP? Is tough for centrist democrats, you have to side with the demonstrators and minimize the push back from police unions, the better ones will piss both of them off.
