Curious to see what everyone's take was on the tackle from Stefan St Louis on that play with Alvarez. I thought maybe it may of been a two footed tackle and which then result in a blue card. Feel bad for Alvarez was very interested to see how he would do on the wave. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

It looked like a one footed tackle, Alvarez was unfortunately caught in the tackle and was seriously injured. Stefan was going for the ball but it was an aggressive tackle. I don't think he was intending any harm but I understand the suspension. It didn't look bad at real speed, a bang-bang play, looked a lot worse on replay. I can see how the refs missed it. Tackles can be risky plays.

Just watched it. Deserved suspension. Mario was a revelation in the last year of Cedar Rapids, absolutely huge in our “home” playoff game against the Wave with a hat-trick that day. Probably flourished under Ante Cop more than any other player late in the year.

they are actually trying to complete the season? wow didnt see that coming. so if you take the standings into consideration. both Utica and Milwaukee were at 14-6, and didnt play each other. they would play each other, most likely, and Baltimore would play Florida. in the West Monterrey would play Sonora, and Ontario would play San Diego.

Here's the response by the Monterrey Flash regarding the MASL's proposal:

The league should not call this a “playoffs” nor award the Ron Newman Cup. How about “MASL Post-Season Tournament”? The opportunity to get on national TV now would be huge for the league. I’m confident they could get it done.

i agree. this is kinda like the Super bowl tournament the NFL had in 1982, after the strike cancelled half the season. unique. 1 time thing.

I think it would rival any of the American teams' Spanish press releases. :)

As an Upstate New Yorker, I am offended by the response. They do acknowledge that all of New York is not New York City, but they still throw us all in the same basket. Something like 70% of the cases are in NYC, which is 4 1/2 hours from Utica and 6 1/2 hours from Rochester.

Are you offended by the entire response or just the portion that applies to you?

That was but one of several reasons. But all of the other reasons are moot since they couldn't come here even if they wanted to.

I'm offended that Upstate NY is being compared to NYC. It's like comparing the Yukon Territory to Vancouver.

What do you or anyone else think about the rest of it? Not trying to spark negative debate, just curious where everyone sits on it. For me, the whole thing is player and staff safety. Teams traveling far will be stuffed into metal tubes, whether it's planes or buses. Not to mention, these guys don't even make decent salaries across the board. Add the border and the travel restrictions, it's a no win situation. Ask any professional athlete in any sport about coming back, and there is a huge divide.

For starters, this is how Turlock Cal Express would, in a better world (a world where shit like COVID-19 didn't exist) react to making the playoffs:

    Secondly... what the hell?!

You're a minor league sport, and a very niche one at that. You're likely going to play in front of no fans and generate little to no revenue as a result, meaning all these matches will be at a loss for the teams. Aside from patting yourself on the back if you're in the corporate office, what is there to gain from playing in the postseason?

It only makes sense if a national sports network has offered to pony up $ for it (to cover expenses, I imagine. Then the exposure may be worth it. They’re desperate for live sports, and so is the public (judging by Bundesliga ratings right now).

Agreed! It's just too bad that the official Blast press release on the matter only dedicated five words to Danny's departure, two less words than the number of championship teams that he led.
