Good news: Pervis Estupiñan is back! He played this weekend w/ Villareal. I'm not sure the club will be as excited to send him back for eliminatorias if he's just getting back into form, but they don't have a choice if he's called up. The calendar is brutal for these players this year...

    Schedule...
    Local league play
    Local cup
    Champions League
    NT call ups

This guy was a product of Universidad Catholica and Norte America youth systems.

Antonio Valencia and Jefferson Montero will both play for Queretaro according to reports. I'm not sure if Valencia's cycle with the NT is over. I put him in the same category as Noboa. They're no longer starters but they can be leaders and help the younger players develop. I'm sure a lot of the guys look up to Valencia. I haven't seen Montero play in years. There's players ahead of him at this time but what's crazy is that he's not that old. Angel Mena is older than him yet most will agree that he'll be part of the NT at least for the next couple of years.

Montero last 2 to 3 years have been supper inconsistent due to Injuries and he hasnt been able to shake it off MX is a pretty bad placed for him to recover given that it has been the place where he suffered his biggest injuries in his career. I wish him luck tho but I doubt he will reappear on NT radar same goes for Joao Rojas in Sao Paulo he recovered from 2 big back to back injuries and hasnt gotten playing time in over a year.

It crazy to see how much Queretaro has been going after Ecuadorian talent lately they used to be a team that never went after Ecuadorians lol. I see wiki has already added Jeff to the Squad thats pretty much a done deal but nothing yet for Valencia.

I wouldn't discount Montero playing for the NT again at some point. He'll have to prove that he can stay healthy though. He hasn't played since March so maybe all this time off gave him a chance to get in shape. What can work in his favor is that there isn't a left winger that's running away with the spot. Romario Ibarra is decent but nothing special to write home about. Alvarado can be a standout but I think he made the wrong move in going to Orlando City SC. There's some other players that come to mind as well Munoz and Janner Corozo but I put them in the same category of Ibarra - decent players but not undisputed starters.

Fidel Martinez may leave his team in China. One of the worst moves an Ecuadorian player has ever made. Careers are short so I don't blame them for chasing the money. Had he stayed and continued his run of form he undoubtedly would have been called up to the NT. Miller too. I saw some of his games prior to him leaving Xolos and he was playing well. I hope he gets out too. He's only 30. He still has another 2 maybe 3 years left of good futbol.

As much hate as Renato Ibarra deserves it seems he is the best fit for now on that left wing.

Alvarado first season is gonna be mostly adapting to MLS if he doesnt start breaking into the stsrting team by next season then we can start to worry. OCSC fans have him as the Nani replacement which is pretty big if you ask me. Nani is 34 now so his playing time will def start going down.

What I understood for Martinez is that the Chinese Super League ended and his team got eliminated from the Chinese Super Cup. The only games left are the AFC champions games which has a limit of foreigners each team can register that all. Im pretty sure he will continue in the club but sadly the season for him specifically is over so he gonna go a long time with out playing time.

I hope Alvarado breaks into his team next season. He needs playing time to continue his development. He's actually gotten into better shape ever since he went to MLS. I think he and Pervis can compliment each other well. Alvarado is a player that puts in defensively. Pervis likes to push high up the pitch so we need a player that can provide defensive cover but at the same time poses an offensive threat. He's a modern winger in the sense that he likes to cut in to the middle and can also operate on the opposite flank.

In regards to Martinez, a report came out that he's unhappy about the lack of playing time he's gotten. It's not just that he wasn't registered for the AFC champions league games but he received very little playing time in the the chinese domestic league as well. He's come off the bench 4 times and has only played 92 minutes. I don't know the terms of his contract or whether or not he can opt out but it wouldn't surprise me if switches teams in the winter transfer window.

Dam Martinez situation could go really bad he could end up like up like Obafemi Martins and go 2 years with out playing time. I really wish he would have stayed in bsc

John Espinoza is going to Chicago Fire. MLS is going after all our young talent. The bright side it seems like they genuinely want to build on these players when I look at Cifuentes and Mendez there hope they can end up Europe soon like Gruezo. I cant hate on them for being the very few Leagues that want to heavily invest in our players like that.

I don't know much about the Chicago Fire but ecuadorian players have found recent success playing for MLS clubs. Palacios and Cifuentes are doing well playing for LAFC. As is Mendez with OCSC. Arreaga is a starter with the Seattle Sounders. Gruezo had a good run with Dallas and now he's a starter for his team in Germany and the Ecuadorian NT.

The Chinese league pays exceptionally well. Considering most of these guys will be unemployed when they retire, either they have exceptionally great money management, or they have someone as a financial manager for what they earned over their lifetime, the gravy train ends when they hang up their boots. I don't blame anyone for making a move to China where the salary for most foreigners is well in excess of $1M per year with a ton of other perks. Martinez was doing great in BSC, but that success doesn't translate to China even where one can judge the skill level of the league (overall) as being not as competitive as CONMEBOL or CONCACAF...forget about Europe. BUT, Martinez is probably performing at a lower output than what was expected because he's on the other side of the world and his EQ to sustain that pressure is probably really low....but it affects him physically. I don't think his drop in form is attributable to bad physical quality or injuries (that hasn't been reported).

China does pay well. They actually pay too. You don't hear about their teams being in dispute with a player over unpaid wages. I think Martinez and Miller can still contribute to the NT so it sucks their move to China probably took them out of the running for a spot. Careers are short though so yeah we can't fault them for looking after their future and that of their families.
