By all means Chelsea be our guest on this one, please. West Ham United fear they could be forced to sell Declan Rice | @Matt_Law_DThttps://t.co/DECwzP10FE— Telegraph Football (@TeleFootball) April 27, 2020 Especially at the rumored price of 70mil. Rice was an intriguing prospect a year ago but really haven't seen the type of progress we'd hope for from him to justify such a large outlay. Not to mention the fact there are other candidates there for the taking, better candidates at almost half the price.
Juventus would welcome Paul Pogba and are happy to exchange him with Miralem Pjanic or Douglas Costa to Manchester United, claims Gianluca Di Marzio https://t.co/1V24Y5hdua #Juventus #MUFC #PSG #RealMadrid pic.twitter.com/1ED8QYcihh— Football Italia (@footballitalia) April 28, 2020 Di Marzio also suggesting that Real will push on in their attempt to get Pogs this summer as well. If all Juve can do is a swap deal, then they're pretty much out for all intents and purposes in my estimation. Particularly with who is on the table on their side: would have taken either one of Pjanic or Costa (plus cash) at one point but they're 30 and 29 respectively now and do not fit into what we're trying to build.
Fabrizio Romano interview, here we go! Di Marzio Q&A https://www.skysports.com/football/...ogba-kalidou-koulibaly-philippe-coutinho-more
It’s hard to take him seriously when he doesn’t understand the basic facts. He’s basing his opinion on Pogba having a year left on his contract, ignoring the fact the we have an option year.
The Partey rumors have kicked into overdrive in the past 24hrs. The annoying part is that they're really not based on anything concrete: some Ghanaian insider/reporter claiming that he's not ready to sign a new contract with Atleti and he def fancies a move to England and United in particular. Pretty thin unfortunately. If there any shred of truth about this, let's hope that the club is not sitting on their hands on this. Can't find better value, particularly in a position of need: might not have the same transformative effect Fernandes has had on the team, but his impact would still be substantial nonetheless. On paper at least...
Not against Partey but Zakaria's definitely my first choice. BM play more like we do in a higher tempo counterattacking league, he's played in a double pivot as well as being a sole 6, and he has also performed very well as a third centre back. He is exceptionally mobile which helps cover more effectively behind Pogba and Bruno, and he fits the bill of a young talent who will be eager to prove himself at a higher level. Plus he's not going to have to leave for AFCON, not that we have any idea what will be happening there. Still hope he gives it one more season but if Pogba leaves, then as long as we sign big at RW and get one of the above two at DM then I wouldn't be looking to replace him. I'm putting all my ********ing eggs in the Sancho basket right now, and he and Bruno would cover Pogba's creative thrust. I'm also really hoping we can have Garner and Levitt make the breakthrough in the season ahead, particularly Levitt. I am getting phantom muppet pains.
Like everything else this year, the summer transfer window is a total crap shoot thanks to Covid. From if/when it will be open, to how teams will spend, to how evaluations will change, to if swapping players suddenly becomes a thing. If you would have asked me a few months ago if Pogba will be here past this summer I wouldve said no way. But with all this going on, I can see him staying another season due to nobody being able to pay his valuation. Unless we are just desperate to move on from him and sell for a bargain (which we shouldnt do). If that happens, I think theres a real chance Pogba could stay here long term. If we can land Sancho and a proper 6 (and really even if we dont), along with Pogba we would be a considerably better team then at the start of this season. For the first time since arriving here, Pogba wouldnt have to handle the entire workload of a midfield which we've seen for France and Juve brings out the best in him. With Bruno sharing the creative duties, Pogba would be free to pull the strings from a little deeper in midfield, do what he does best which is break the press and be a ball carrier and influencer, and do enough defensively to help whoever is playing as the 6 with covering duty. Plus with Sancho, Martial, and Rash we'd finally have a balanced front 3 that doesnt clearly favor one flank...and our speed up front and ability to get in behind would be ridiculous. I could see Pogba having a big season next year where he isnt the focal point and all the pressure isnt on his back. If he plays well, we win, and there's less constant criticism of him I could see him deciding to stay (similar to DDG). Oh and Zakaria looks decent from the little I've seen, but I would still much prefer Partey. He has no real weaknesses from what Ive seen and he's proven it at the top level.
Partey all the way for me. And yes, it does seem as though Pogba won’t be leaving this summer. Famous last words perhaps.
Zakaria has no real weaknesses either, and his acceleration, speed and strength are fearsome. His passing range isn't as sprawling but it's still snappy and incisive. For me, being able to play in a back 3 is a huge plus as well. I definitely wouldn't be mad if we went for Partey though, especially if the alternative is that Arsenal pick him up. It depends whether we feel Partey would get detached if the going got tough because he feels he's already done it at the top level, compared to Zakaria wanting to prove he can do it at the top level. The impression I get is that Partey's agents are engineering a move because he's not getting paid as much as he'd like. Just feels a bit of a red flag.
I also heard about Sancho going to Man Utd in the summer transfer window but honestly if he stays at Dortmund I wouldn't mind it but personally I would love it if he went to Man U
Jadon Sancho- #MUFC most proactive- #RMFC & #LFC contact (improbable), #MCFC kept abreast (unlikely), no #CFC dialogue since Jan- #BVB won’t take under €120m- No agitation to leave or decision until season ends. A really good fit actually for Manchester United...I know he would make a good addition even though he is Canadian but Jonathan David who plays for Gent in the Belgian league
I wouldn't mind Werner but I'd much rather we spent money on positions of need rather than on a backup striker. Also, I'd prefer a different type of striker. Someone a little more physical.
Jonathan David the Canadian international he would be a good fit for Manchester United but also Raul Jimenez of Wolves he would be perfect
🗞👀According to reports, Aston Villa have set a £80m price tag on prize man and captain Jack Grealish, even if we are relegated. We are no longer a selling club 🙌🏻 #avfc pic.twitter.com/2XJxRYXFtx— AVFCchats 🦁 (@AVFCchats) May 17, 2020 Assuming that is Villa making it clear that Grealish won't be going on the cheap. But either way, that is just more reason for United to walk away from this deal at this point. There might have been somewhat of a point to this deal if Pogs left and he was available at a reasonable price. But neither of those look likely at this point: time to move on from this, with more pressing needs on the table.
Who can afford to buy him? And United will not entertain a swap deal, despite the rumors out there, especially considering the players being offered (for Juve or Real). Furthermore, if Pogba were to leave, the smart play would be to go for holding mid. Fred and McTominay can competently fill the gap left by Pogba. A DCM is by far a more pressing concern right now as it is (or even if Pogs were to leave).
5 replacements for Pogba 5) Miralem Pjanic (Juventus) (Bosnian) 4) Aaron Ramsey (Juventus) (Welshman) 3) Kai Havertz (Bayer 04 Leverkeusen) (German) 2) Thomas Partey (Atletico Madrid) (Ghanaian) 1) James Maddison (Leicester City) (English)
