Hypocrisy? What did I accuse you of that I then did in my post? You make no sense.

My point is you are clamoring to say you "understand" what these terms are and accusing others of "not understanding." I'm telling you, you do not. I have a PhD in political science, I guarantee I've studied these terms much more than you, and I don't claim to have an authoritative understanding of these concepts because they are used to mean a million different things for different ends.

Oh, and you have no clue what would or wouldn't work in a country like America. Stop shaming people thinking you're a know it all.

Yes, I’m not advocating for or backing up such publications. As someone who’s studied virology, the number of Corona virus reports that detail dubious science sickens and frightens me.

At some point the first country will open up, not suffer catastrophic results from it, and the consensus will be for everybody else to follow.

Germany's curve has been slowly flattening, but the number of deaths has been on the rise. A lot of experts assume that the virus is slowly spreading to a wider range of citizens, which sparks the increasing death numbers.

Yeah the federal reserve is throwing money out there to help the lenders sustain. But that will only work for so long

We coulf survive this if we maintain the current restrictions through the summer

But my concern is that we open too early due to postitive flattening of the curve and what you fear happens

    1) Election year: Trump will want to open everything up and his governor allies will follow suit to "save" the economy. That's his calling card.

    2) People get sick of being home and stop following restrictions and this spikes again

It's scary how opportunistic some are with little care for the wellbeing of their fellow man.

It's my fear as well. It would be political suicide by Trump because even the yokels that worship him will have a sour taste if their loved ones starting dying as well.

Agree. But I'm not even sure that wide-scale testing fixes the problem.

A hospital doctor from Hamburg claims that this virus "impacts our way of life way more than something with it's properties should", saying all people under 60 that have died from the virus were sick, being asked in what way he said "cancer patients, diabetics, smokers and fat people". "The people that i see dying from it, are people that i see dying here anyway".

Basically getting blasted all over media right now because of the comments.

I girl i know ignored all measures and drove to a party at a friends house. :coffee:

    You're right it doesn't.

All that would do is give usba snapshot of what is really going on in areas then attempt to formulate plans to close thise people off in an attempt to get a real quarantine down.

If we knew every person who was infected right now and they stayed in for 15 days we would be back to normal life by May.

We don't and that is the problem. This is course theoretically speaking...

Captain Trump of the RMS Titanic:

    There isn't any iceberg.

There was an iceberg but it's in a totally different ocean.

The iceberg is in this ocean but it will melt very soon.

There is an iceberg but we didn't hit the iceberg.

We hit the iceberg, but the damage will be repaired very shortly.

The iceberg is a Chinese iceberg.

We are taking on water but every passenger who wants a lifeboat can get a lifeboat, and they are beautiful lifeboats. Look, passengers need to ask nicely for the lifeboats if they want them.

We don't have any lifeboats, we're not lifeboat distributors.

Passengers should have planned for icebergs and brought their own lifeboats.

I really don't think we need that many lifeboats.

We have lifeboats and they're supposed to be our lifeboats, not the passengers' lifeboats.

The lifeboats were left on shore by the last captain of this ship.

Nobody could have foreseen the iceberg

The President is in charge of national security. This President claimed to be the best at this, but has failed and continues to deflect blame to any group or individual other than himself. This is what a narcissist does.

Would a different President have handled this better? Yes. Would the results have changed? Probably. A Democratic President wouldn't have been defunding the CDC, eliminating the Pandemic response team, telling the States to fend for themselves, etc. A lot of these decisions are direct responses to Obama policies (tear down anything he did) and from the Republican playbook (less Federal power, more for the States). Unfortunately for the President along came a situation where you need a strong central gov't to negotiate prices on medical supplies and get those supplies to where they are needed.

This is where i disagree. Even if the results would have been better, you'd have seen a marginal difference.

France were punching their chest and acting proud of themselves in political competence but their numbers have been disastrous compared to other countries in Europe, and they've struggled to have it under control for much longer than anybody else.

I don't want to create a sociopolitical discussing here, but in general, the more "free spirited" countries and states are, the wider and faster the spread of this virus is, at least that's how i feel about it.

Again, i think from a leadership standpoint it's bee catastrophic, the president should give daily updates, shouldn't talk about his facebook numbers, or anything. The press conferences should be Fauci and the president only when new measures have been decided.

I like to focus on the sociopolitical climate of a country because Nancy Pelosi understands herself as an arch nemesis of Trump, and she told people to go congregate in numbers and celebrate in San Francisco.

It's part of the spirit of a country. Refuse to bow down, stick your chest out, fight through it and refuse to listen.

yeah I can definitely envision it not playing out much differently

some things were not all his fault, like the national stockpile being low and old, individual hospitals not having enough PPE because why would a for profit entity spend money on something they "don't use", and as you said the characteristic makeup of the american people

i think the results would have been very similar but there would have been greater communication and solidarity between countries.

According to Woj there is an eventuality of the NBA having to play in empty arenas for years, or at least until a reliable vaccine arrives.

As if things could have not been worse:

Coronavirus May ‘Reactivate’ in Cured Patients, Korean CDC Says

About 51 patients classed as having been cured in South Korea have tested positive again, the CDC said in a briefing on Monday. Rather than being infected again, the virus may have been reactivated in these people, given they tested positive again shortly after being released from quarantine, said Jeong Eun-kyeong, director-general of the Korean CDC.

“While we are putting more weight on reactivation as the possible cause, we are conducting a comprehensive study on this,” Jeong said. “There have been many cases when a patient during treatment will test negative one day and positive another.”

    a cautionary tale:

when they came for the TV controller at 10PM, I said nothing

when they said no ice cream for breakfast, I held my tongue

when they came for Fortnight, I pretended not to see

When they said I square of toilet paper, it was too late

That's what I'm saying. If we are gonna eliminate fan attendance for years out of 1 virus then might as well change sports forever. I don't see that as viable.

I'm sure this has been mentioned but thank god we extended our Adidas deal last year. I'm guessing if we were negotiating right now, we'd be getting 70 cents on the dollar IF THAT.

could very well be provisions in the agreement for acts of God and so on but I agree it certainly starts the negotiations much higher but pretty everything is about to be renegotiated

I'm no expert, but wouldn't their immune system be ready for it once it reactivates?

Maybe, but even if that's the case, they could spread the virus no?

    Uh.. here.

Your PhD in Political Science doesn't make you a master of Business and Economics, no differently than my Masters in Project Management and MBA with a concentration in Financial Investments makes me an expert in bureaucracy.

At no point have you addressed any point I made.

You simply responded with a blanket statment after you wrongfully accused me of leading with one.

I have outlined why I don't believe Socialism would work in a country of this size with it's foundation and the people's mindset.

I have outlined what I believed the issues were. I stated them clearly and addressed why they are problematic. I also stated why government generating more revneue doesn't automatically equate to better governance, programs or coverage.

You on the other hand didn't actually address a thing. You attacked me then got defensive because I retorted your attack.

Address my points or keep on scrolling. I don't care to get in a battle of insults with you and if you can't actually defend what you believe and only want to call me names; save yourself the time and put me on ignore. Tia.
