If you're going to drive to a Crystal City garage, why not just take Metro from there?

You're right, but Uber can bring me right to Audi Field before the game. But I might take Metro back next time. The best place after games are about as far as Metro anyways.

There's also the issue of how long my bladder can last.

a tad tardy reply but I have been away from BS for little while:

DC United plays at EagleBank Arena EAST.

EagleBank Arena WEST is located in Fairfax on the campus of GMU.

How many years later did it take for there to actually be an EagleBank in Virginia after the Patriot Center was renamed?

On the Uber subject, have you thought about going to the specific Uber pickup point that gets announced at Audi Field? I believe it's by Nats Park on Potomac Avenue and it should be away from the worst of the post game traffic.

As for the bladder issues, I've had no qualms ducking in Walters or BWWs for a bathroom break on my way to Metro or my parking garage after a game. When you gotta go you gotta go.

EagleBank's operations in Virginia started around 2008 when it acquired Fidelity and Trust. They obtained naming rights of the patriot center around 2015.

When did they actually have a retail banking location?

Pretty sure the Tysons branch was the first retail location in 2009; Rosslyn was the second in mid-2011 and Ballston around the same time.

Rumors might be swirling that MLS is going to scrap the season. If DCUnited's ownership can't afford and survive a total shutdown, what will that mean for the status of the lease/payments the team owes the city. Would an ownership transfer accelerate clauses in the contract? Would MLS itself be on the hook if United folds?

    Thx,

    Jay!

Might Be. But if they are possibly true, then its not just DC United.

    Exactly.

I don’t expect 100% of MLS to be able to survive a cancelled season. I do suspect DC United to be a team in danger of folding/changing hands/going bankrupt.

What are the Audi Field implications if that happens? Can DC shut out the team for non-payment? Can MLS move the franchise? These are pertinent questions.

    Thx,

    Jay!

MLS was uniquely built to withstand this kind of thing. No MLS team is in any danger of folding because of single entity.

I forgot I had begun a post in this thread a couple weeks ago where I mentioned an interesting interaction with a security guard by the cement plant, a bunch of photos of the area and that there the primary stadium gate (and only that gate) has an audi field sign (also visible in the tweet below) finally.

Likewise I've had this tweet sitting in a tab for a while.

    and this
1245701116903424005 is not a valid tweet id

Maybe I'll get around to posting photos of the area and maybe condensing the absurd amount I wrote about the bridge.

I mentioned in some other thread that Tenorio and Stejskal, who are far better informed about the financial condition of MLS than anyone posting here, believe that MLS will be one of the financially stronger leagues in the world after the pandemic because of the single entity format and the collective financial strength of its owner-investors. The other thing to keep in mind is that once the lockdown ends, whenever that is, there will be the pent up demand for diversion and sports is a large part of that. Attendance and ratings across the board will spike as people will be looking for anything, everything to get themselves to a mental place where the pandemic isn't part of their daily lives. Any ownership group that throws in the towel now is dumber than a box of rocks.

I've been binge watching The Wire during the shutdown (I'm now down to the last two discs of Season 5), and I've been struck by the simllarity of Proposition Joe's arguments to Marlo about the strength of forming an exclusive Baltimore region-wide co-op to the arguments put forth on these boards about the strength of MLS single entity corporate structure. I'd like to think up a way of working Hamsterdam into this analogy, but -so far - no can do.

Not a single MLS team will fold over this. Rumors that "might be swirling" are about as apt as the turds swirling around my toilet bowl this morning.

There is an article in The Athletic regarding pay cuts and furloughs. Only two teams responded on the record -- DCU and Philly. Levien is working without pay, Olsen, Kasper, Mairs and Martin took a 20% deferment. Three USL employees at Loudoun were furloughed because unemployment was more lucrative than a paycheck under the CARES Act. Gameday staff are not being paid, but DCU players are working on fundraising for Martha's Table. If you want to know more, just pay so articles like this can continue and Pablo Maurer can continued day drinking (see his Twitter feed).:)

I just got an email from my ticket rep saying I could defer this month's payment for my season tickets and spread it out over the remainder of the payment period (through August). I won't take them up on it since I am in no danger of losing my job but it's a nice, if small, gesture.
