I really shouldn't have to say this but in the grand scheme of things, football is irrelevant at the moment. Then again, here I am posting on a futbol message board so......
I am way more bummed I can't play to be honest. And I don't really care about winning a title in a shortened season if they can't finish it.
Messi lashes the board again. Doesn't understand why they keep putting the players in the spotlight in a negative way. Said that aside from the 70% salary cut the players will be helping make sure the day to day employees that need it make 100% of their salary.
the amount of twitter hate from "barca" fans the players were getting in the days leading up to the message from Messi was quite large. Messi lashed the board and also gave a sideway slap to a fair few fans
Champions League and Europa League finals likely to be played in August https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52386601 To summarize, the idea is to focus on domestic competitions once its safe to do so since international travel will still be difficult/impossible. Once those competitions are completed (hopefully by 31 July), then August will be reserved for the last 3 1/2 rounds of CL.
It’ll be close. Laporta recently announced that he’s a presidential candidate. Xavi is close with Laporta as well
I thought it's been fairly known that Laporta, Font and Benedito are the presumed candidates. They've all talked about a censure motion against Bartomeu the last couple of years. Font has already stated that he wants Xavi to lead the project if he wins the election while Xavi has basically endorsed Font for president. Former players Carles Puyol, Oscar and Roger Garcia, Gerard Lopez, Ramón Alfonseda, Barca handball legend Enric Masip, La Masia influential coach Joan Vila (unceremoniously ousted in 2018), current club spokesman Josep Vives - andex-presidentJoanGaspart - all lended their support by attending the press conference when Font announced his candidacy last summer. No doubt, Laporta is more well known and has past success to help his cause. And he';ll likely have a strong backing of support, as well (Pep Guardiola, for starters). But for the moment I'd put Font as the favorite to win. I want to see the platform of ALL the candidates before expressing who I hope wins.
Despite what his father has said I honestly don't see Pep ever returning to manage Barca, even if Laporta were to win the election. I believe he would return in some other capacity, perhaps in an advisory role similar to what Cruyff was to Laporta in the 2000s. That is, IF he were to return to the club. He's already stated that he will eventually return to live in the city "sooner or later".
Former La Liga referee claims 90% of officials in Spain support Real Madrid 👀 pic.twitter.com/bkIoUqHDou— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) May 22, 2020 Still only 2 leagues in 10 years. Should have 0 in 10 years
With unbiased refs Barca would've won liga every year. 11-12 was a complete robbery. If I remember it correctly Barca at one point went 10 at least 50/50 penalties not given in a row. Chance of that not being a referee bias, is less than 0,5^10 = 1 in 1000. And of course the Atletico titulero 13-14, won by onside goal whistled as offside.
I think that's old news. I remember about 3-4 years ago a referee claimed that many officials were LPB supporters although the 90% claim wasn't mentioned. Also don't recall the referee who said it but it was brought up in this forum. Could have been the same guy.
It was Iturralde, as it was the quote I brought, like 5-10 years ago. But this is from new interview, picked up by ESPN, so it's good thing either way.
