Looks like they are working on temp power for the job site.

They had approval to clear the land but are not permitted to begin building until a few things were finalized with the city. I believe those were finalized today and they can begin construction now.

After seeing the media buzz about an apartment building where people "need to move" , where is it in relation to the prior posted map of the stadium site? Are they actually tearing this building down? Article seems to make it sound like FCC owns it? Any clarification would be great.
Also, when I see the stadium cams and the surrounding area views, this almost looks like an English or European landscape this stadium is being dropped into.
I hope to make it to a game at Nippert this year, hitting Minnesotas new place on the same trip.
I like to hit the prior places like Nippert, before teams move into their new places.
This will complete all my MLS stadium visits except for the Mercedes dome, but I did see ATL at Bobby Dodd the first year.

    Thanks for the response !
    So, my follow up questions.
Wade street address while very close to the stadium, still seems "over" the property line or outside the red line.
Is this building being torn down? If not, why do the people need to leave? Is there an alternate use for it?
The Central address is even farther away (?)

Interesting, Cincinnati Police building right next door? An actual police station?
Did they get the issues resolved with the Opera or Ballet?
I hope it all gets resolved soon with no bad PR
    Thanks again !

You are going to ask those question... I need to check a few things.

One of the Cinci police stations is being replaced. There were issues with the building I think mold or the like. Cheaper to replace. I have to check which.

FC offered to let people stay in one of the buildings until the end of November. The entire area is being redeveloped. I will find a link to an article from a few years back about Over the Rhine, the area to the east. Basically, it was inner city area that was left fallow for years. A riot occurred in 2001, and the heads of the 5 fortune 500 companies in town said enough. We're having trouble hiring because of the neighborhood.

FC Cincinnati offered the building residents $2500 plus moving expenses. They countered at $40k.

This article is a couple of years old, about the area just east of the stadium. The road in the cover picture is about a half mile east of the stadium site. That neighborhood is called Over the Rhine.

I was wrong on the police station... the one with issues is District 5, the one by the stadium is District 1. District 1 will be moved, but there is no decision where, yet. As a side note, here is information about the recently built District 3 stations, I expect a similar replacement for District 1.

    https://www.messer.com/our-work/add...of-cincinnati-police-district-3-headquarters/

This is about the tenants of the buildings...

They tried to pull heart strings with the old lady. I think a lot of people saw that as a sympathy grab. That neighborhood will gentrify with or without the stadium. The stadium may have moved the timeline forward by 5 to 10 years.

The way I look at the area, in the late 60s and 70s, people stopped/were prevented from investing in the area. Over the next 30 years, the area died. After the riots, the city and business community got behind redevelopment of the area. Redevelopment over the last 15 years has been in Over the Rhine. That area is about 70 done, and properties that haven't been redeveloped have been scooped up.

The area by the stadium is vacant, or underutilized, and prime property ready to be scooped up. FC Cincinnati's owners bought a bunch of land as part of the land purchases for the stadium. They will make money on the real estate deals for a while. The apartments in question are part of those deals.

I'm an empty nester living in the burbs 20 miles from downtown, but I am in Over the Rhine twice a week, and would move down there in a heartbeat. That area is full of young professionals.

Late thanks for the info. I was in Europe, just got back. I guess they came to some agreements, so hope the rest falls in place.

The training facility is far enough along that the team is using it but it isn't finished. I'm not sure of the schedule for 100% completion. I haven't seen any updates recently or have I been able to get there to check it out yet.

FC Cincinnati's pitch has been installed with a new cutting edge technology.

West End Stadium is the first venue in Major League Soccer to leverage this combination of game-changing turfgrass technology. Motz installed their proprietary AirPATTM complete rootzone management system. The AirPAT system is a moisture management solution that wraps the entire field with a watertight liner and uses a unique vacuum drainage system to create a perfect growing climate for the rootzone. The surface features EclipseTM, a championship-quality hybrid system of natural ryegrass and synthetic turf surface. A total of 84,600 feet of Eclipse sod was installed, taking 10-person crew 14 weeks from site preparation to sod installation. In addition, SGL Systems was selected to install seven commercial grow lights, each covering over 500 square yards of surface, which will augment natural sunlight to maintain ideal growing conditions for the field leading into the upcoming 2021 MLS season.

So I wonder if this could work in places like SEA & PDX so we could get rid of those ugly fake fields. I would think NE would go grass if they could finally build their own place closer to Boston. ATL with the dome, well short of converting the stadium to like what the Arizona Cardinals do with their slid in-slid out field, will probably always unfortunately be fake.

You would think it would. I'm really curious to see how the pitch looks at the beginning of this season and then how it holds up during an entire season. If successful I would think we will see more teams moving to this product in their stadium..
