For some it's about the money, for others it's about glory. Liverpool would basically pay out of their pocket to not lose that joke of a title this has become.
Coronavirus update in Spain - a further 950 deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours. Unfortunately, this is another new daily high for the nationThere are now a total of 10,003 deaths in Spain. A total of 54,113 have been hospitalised and 26,743 have been discharged.— Football España (@footballespana_) April 2, 2020 JUST IN: US reports a thousand coronavirus deaths in a 24-hour period for the first time— The Spectator Index (@spectatorindex) April 2, 2020

I think at some point this washes over you if you can't control it, and for Spain, this completely blew over them.
Kevin De Bruyne: “I have no idea when we will be playing again. Not evident for a player. You haven’t played for 6 weeks. Normally you’d need a preparation of 3 to 4 weeks. If we restart immediately then everybody will be injured after a few games.”https://t.co/6FdwWwmfZo— Kristof Terreur (@kristofterreur) April 2, 2020 Kevin De Bruyne: “I know that there’s lots of money involved. But I think that waiting so long to make a decision can cause issues next season. There won’t be a long summer break and you can just postpone everything.”— Kristof Terreur (@kristofterreur) April 2, 2020 Kevin De Bruyne: “I would feel sad if the season is stopped after such a good year, but if it avoids issues for next season, it must be done.”— Kristof Terreur (@kristofterreur) April 2, 2020
What he is saying makes sense. They can't just immediately restart; they would need another preseason preparation period and we just don't have the time for it. Need to cancel this season and hope for next season starting before winter....
Sergio Rodriguez (Armani Milan) said the same thing. Players start playing again and everybody will be so rusty that games will be unpredictable and absolute trash fests.
Over a thousand corona deaths in the USA in the last 24 hours. 960 in Spain. the curves are skyrocketing
How to cancel though? You'll never get, say, Liverpool and Man Utd to agree on how/whether the 2019-20 season should be counted. I still say finish the 2019-20 season regardless. Yeah it will end ridiculously late, but who cares? Also the players won't need another 6 week summer break and 3-4 week warm-up after it ends. Last thing players, fans and owners would want is the usual long summer break after the lock-down ends. Everyone will just want to get things running ASAP. That's one thing I think we will all agree on.
They won't want another full season + Euro + Olympics right after next season. At this point it's irrelevant to talk about it anything sicne there's pretty much no clue when football can be played again. From what i've heard we're looking at a possible June return. The Spanish League and the players association have publically refused to play every 2-3 days, so we're looking at an end of the year finish for this season. Then you'll have to rush through the 20-21 season in half the time to make the Euro and the olympics. Seems like a hassle.
I could live with hassle and small sacrifices if it means saving a season. Another small sacrifice for instance could be not to have domestic cup/supercup competitions next season. That would save about 6-8 matchdays. But yeah, w/o knowing when things can get back to normal we are just talking in the air here. The point that KdB brought-up may not really cause any further delays though because players can prepare to get back in shape while we are unwinding the lock downs across the continent. IOW, you wouldn't want to fill 70,000-seat stadiums on Day 1 after the lockdown ends anyway.
Well, looks like the Belgium league is setting the precedent. Club Brugge awarded the 2019-20 title. They had a 15 point lead. https://www.espn.com/soccer/club-br...d-champions-as-belgium-cancels-rest-of-season
Anybody playing any games at this point? I have been neglecting gaming for a decade, and now playing some games. Currently playing Dishonored. Great stuff.
Now that I look at the Belgian league table more closely I see that Club Brugge had already mathematically clinched the title, so what I posted is non-news.
They could have still lost. Belgium has play offs. After the regular season there's still a play off season for all the teams. After everyone has played eachother twice the top 6 gets their points slashed in two, get put into playoff 1 and then they play eachother twice. So those 15 points would have been slashed to 8 with 30 points(10 games) still to earn or lose. Also it's not yet official it's just the board of directors of the league that gave the advice to suspend as they don't see a way to continue the season without causing issues for next season.
Same here. Resigned Ronaldo at the end of his contract, currently top scorer with 15 goals in 13 games. Ramos have captained Spain to a Euro win and a World cup win with winning player of the tournament in the World cup. Retiring at the end of season and becoming my assistant. I can live with this future.
This just doesn't make sense. The players will have to go through a crash course of preseason then a bunch of high risk matches crammed into a short period of time. They would still need a decently full offseason because all of that will fatigue them no differently than the regular season. Smart thing would be cancel season, start from fresh and laugh at Liverpool. I am saying this as a Madridista who truly believes if we start again we win La Liga 100%. I'm just not going to be subjective and selfish and look at the bigger pitcture.
In all honesty I was so tired of seeing him I took control of another club and "bought" him for 0 just to get rid of him. Did manage to get Arsenal to bid 100 ME for Ceballos and PSG to buy Carvajal for 93 ME.
I've been holding off on doing that, but I may just have no other options. Those other two deals are fantastic business.
