Who disrespected him? He ran out his contract and left for a huge contract, lets not get sentimental.
Read my comment above for what happened. Its not sentimental. It's from my memory of Mexes comments in the press in that previous year. They took him for granted and he fcuked them off. Rightly so. We had limited money and we spent it on fat boy. Instead of renewing him and securing one of our top assets. Decisions like that is just one example of why we had no money. They could have then sold him off if they needed the money. You're telling me you could say with a straight face if they came to a player with Mexes history ( key player in a reasonable amount of time) and told him that was the deal, we need the money so renew and we'll resell you for 20-25million, he would have decided to run down his contract? Think your story through better.
He signed with Milan for 4.5M net, it was one of the worst contracts in football. Then he broke his knee weeks after signing the pre contract. There was no way in hell Roma would match that. He was finished after that knee injury anyway, spent the rest of his career on Milan’s bench. Adriano signed with Roma 7 months later, and Roma rescinded his contract 4 months in with no penalties since his contract had a clause that allowed for it if he doesn’t reach fitness. The 2 contracts had nothing to do with each other.
Lol no he didnt spent the career on Milans bench. He went on to be a key player for years. Later in his contract they tried to freeze him out but he ended up back in the squad. As he was for us as out best player when he broke his knee. What are you smoking? The money used to sign Adriano could have absolutely been used to secure Mexes in the following year. Nobody came to speak to him, tell him the situation and figure it out. Who runs a club like that? He wasnt exactly a youth nobody was he. So he went and signed for the money that was offered him. Thinking he would have needed the same money to sign for Roma is a fallacy. Again, a smart club would have been signing him with an agreement to sell on if we really needed.
When you look back at a lot of these deals, it makes you realize that clubs need someone just to handle player relations. Even if it's as trivial as being there to drop the kids off at school on an off day. There has to be someone who not only settles players, but helps them continue to do well abroad.
Behind the glamour, the big number contracts, I dont think a lot of these cold number types see the simple human connection behind football. If you have a person in that position of the club who gets it from a players point of view. You keep the player in the loop away in advance, a simple hand on the shoulder, look at them in the eye and speak directly to them.. " you're staying, listen we need you" These situation dont happen. You simply dont leave a key player in the dark. What's not to understand about that? People make it complicated when for a player it's pretty straight forward.
I lost track 3 weeks ago but Friedkin was smart to old off on buying Roma... Pallotta is in he news again... Roma to dedicate next match to frontline medical staff Roma president James Pallotta added: "It is impossible to overstate just how much we appreciate the work of the medical staff in Italy and ...
Realistically speaking, all of the agreement on numbers is out of the window. Everything has changed, no one knows when we will go back to normal and how will this affect revenues. No sane person will pay 600M+ for a football club in these conditions. Not to mention that Dan’s personal financial situation and priorities might change as well.

If Pallotta/players/Gov don’t help out then yeah, its a real possibility. But I doubt Pallitta will let it happen if he can do anything about it.
