This is what im suspecting. Base pay he will be among the top 3 earners. Sell possibly DDG, hopefully Sanchez, Lingard, possibly Pogba, Rojo, one of Jones or Smalling, already got Young off the books, Matic maybe taking a paycut. Replace then with Henderson, Chong, Andreas, Tuanzebe, etc as far as there wages. Saves a lot, no?
Jude Bellingham wants to join Borussia Dortmund. He will almost certainly join the German club. Just the signatures are missing #mulive [bild]— utdreport (@utdreport) March 30, 2020 Not a major surprise, if it does end up happening. Dortmund is really the club most major young talent should be looking to go to right now. Their record in terms of player development and integration to senior football speaks for itself. Still someone to keep an eye out for and see if he can live up to the hype in the coming years.
Dortmund are willing to deal, but as expected, they look like they'll be sticking to their guns in terms of their valuation. At least, there's no risk of it climbing further after Sancho has had a good European Championships, I suppose... BVB message to all the clubs who asked for #Sancho: we don’t change the price after Coronavirus crisis and we’ll not sell him for less than €110M.Man United are in contact with his agent, but BVB have not received any official bid yet. It won’t be a quick deal. 🔴 #MUFC— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) March 30, 2020
Happy for us to pay Sancho top money as I believe he is/will be top class, however we need to learn lessons from Sanchez. Specifically; - whatever you pay a top player your other top earning players will expect at some point (in wages probs Pogs, Rash and DDG) - beware ott incentives (eg Sanchez appearance and goal bonuses were ott to the point of him getting pt when he didnt deserve it and being greedy with the ball which seemed to lead to some players not wanting to pass to him) Basically going all in on a player unless they are Ronaldo / Messi level will upset the team dynamic. So pay him top tier but keep it ball park for other top tier players.
110 for Sancho is worth it. It's rare you see a player with his ability and his production rate at his age. It may be the last chance to get an elite player for some time. Go in hard and try to get it done before any of the other big clubs get serious.
Y'all getting way, way ahead of yourselves. The transfer markets are going to deflate dramatically, both fees and wages. Consumers of all stripes are facing massive financial crises right now.
United ready to move on Saul this summer? https://www.skysports.com/football/...ester-united-linked-with-atletico-madrid-star
https://www.espn.co.uk/football/man...interest-in-juventus-defender-de-ligt-sources Don't necessarily buy it (sounds like a Raiola machination to me) but meh anyhow. Just as is the case with Koulibaly (obviously for different reasons) the time for de Ligt has passed as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention that a CB is pretty low in the list of priorities/needs also. At best, it is one that might need to be revisited in a year's time at the earliest. But for now, I want to see once and for all what we've got in the guys currently at the club to become Maguire's partner.
Nobody knows where the market is right now. Football still did stupid things with money in the midst of the 08/09 crash. If the pattern repeats itself, we'll see sensible reaction to global market forces 18-24 months after the fact. It isn't a switch you can hit. For example, despite the bottom falling out of the market, there are still jobs posted, you can still find work in a lot of places depending on your skillset. Finding a job post recession became markedly harder the further from the dip we were until we reached recovery. I think the football transfer market may hold where it is for a while. Not just teams not wanting to be the first to blink, but if other forms of revenue are down, getting the most out of your players or finding ways to make your players work for you are going to be paramount. For a club like BVB, there's zero chance they can buy a player to replace Sancho so getting enough to secure the next 5 projects is essential.
Everything is just pure speculation right now. Nobody has any idea how things will go e.g. if even the current seasons are completed, if they are to be completed, when? when will the transfer window open/close, if the season is cancelled, what does that mean in terms of sponsorship and TV contracts, player bonuses etc Team revenues will take a hit, just how much is the question. And then how does that impact big teams/small teams transfer dealings?
I forgot to add to my earlier post... I do not understand our fixation on Grealish. He's not a top 4 player and he's entering his peak. He won't magically become better. Combine that with his stupid mistakes off the pitch and this seems like a nobrainer - just like he is. Hopefully this last indiscretion off the pitch will be the end of our interest (alleged or not).
so far there are reasonable links to Saúl Ñíguez and Sancho. if we get those two and no one else i'm good. even if Pogba is sold to do so as much as i'd rather him not. sell him for one £100m player and shell out whatever for the other. at least you'd hope Saúl could be had for less than £135m or whatever his buyout is
If United were to buy Saul, how do you line up the midfield? If Pogba stays or if he goes? Which of Fred or McTominay sits? Didn't they just extend Matic?
Think it's a very good bet that if Pogba stays then Saul is a no go. With that in mind, the following looks pretty good to me. Guys like McTominay and Matic would be at Ole's disposal in midfield for depth and rotation: wouldn't be expected to be nailed on starters with the personnel on hand. They still would see plenty of games over the course of a full season and would provide the depth we've missed recently in that area of the squad.
If we were to end up with a top shelf holding mid and Sancho, it would be close to perfect. If we get Sancho alone, I'd still be very satisfied because McTominay and Matic could hold down the 6 spot for another season in my estimation. Sancho (preferably or another quality RW/RWF) is the key and top priority of our summer in my estimation. Can't go another season with what we have currently at that position: it's that simple really.
What are the reasonable links to Saul? And why would he be looking to leave? I know he's spent a chunk of this season at LB or LM, and that Atleti have been a mess. If we're in for him then we're really doubling down on the no-DM setup. And no way are we signing a 9 other than Ighalo.
The story is that contract negotiations have broken down, they aren't paying what he wants. Of course he could be using us to negotiate.
He has just had a pretty shoddy season to be fair. Maybe someone can very clearly explain why but he'd be extremely expensive for someone who has seriously underperformed this year. We'd have to be very confident that we could bring the best out of him again.
The only way he makes sense is if Villa go down and he's cheap. He wouldn't be a starter, but more a Mata type replacement.
Saul is a perfect 8 if Pogba leaves but makes no sense with Pogba and Bruno here. We still need a proper DM more than any other midfield position.
There are no reasonable links to Saul. I think he’s the new Schneider tbh as we have been linked with him every window for the last 2.5/3years. The daily star ran with the original story this weekend, that’s the source Sky have picked up.
was definitely not referring to last week's story. there was another one i saw before. i'll try to find
There were links for the past 7 years. Since he was on loan at Rayo! https://syndication.bleacherreport....t-saul-niguez-better-than-paul-pogba.amp.html
While I would be thrilled with Saul, theres no way he comes. Atletico love him, he loves Atletico, and he has a monster contract. I dont see any reason he would want to leave or they would want to sell him.
