Crazy to think that we should have had World Cup qualifiers this week. Did they even announce has the rights in the states?
Not yet. Still in negotiations last I heard. Speaking of Qualifiers.... ....The first team we are tentatively scheduled to play in September has just gotten rid of a bunch of Federation staff including their solid manager due to the economic crisis of the virus.: https://www.outlookindia.com/newssc...-lays-off-400-including-coach-tabarez/1783183 So that would mean we face Uruguay with a new manager with no prior experience with the players and Ecuador in the same boat as the second team we face with a new manager. (All assuming things get back to normal by then.)
Unless he dies from this Tabarez will be back in charge once this is all over. Like the article said they just did this so that everybody can collect their unemployment insurance.
Interesting. Did the Uru Fed confirm that? It would make sense to do some creative accounting during this unstable time.

Where does it say Washington will be retained in that tweet? Not denying it will happen but I am trying to figure it out.
That it doesn’t say but it does say they were let go so they could collect the insurance. I’ll bet you anything you want that unless he gets really sick of dies from the virus that he will be the coach when this is over.
I am not familiar with him or his agent and their economic demands on a restructuring of a contract. I am also not familiar with how much the Fed can handle within these economic times of uncertainty. That said, he does seem to be a gentleman and a guy who would probably take very little to continue so who knows. I am just assuming he would just retire or not settle for anything less that what the standard contract is for South American World Cup managers.
Because obviously the alternative is to sound like an emo 15 year old spoiled brat around here who uses posts to say things like "Meh" ,"Blah, Blah, Blah" and "I forgot / don't care about the Copa because there are too many of them." Those type of posts don't really add to the discussion in an intelligent manner but hey, to each his own style.
so what does this mean? Games back on pay-per-view? I loved having the games on Bein Sports. That was convenient enough for me.
Was hoping ESPN+ would have it Honestly not going to pay PPV especially for how we are playing. Look they might be able to get some people to pay $50 for Brazil/Arg playing Arg/Brazil/Chile/Colombia or Uruguay. No one else is going to pay $50 for a Peru v Colombia
https://www.pitchinternational.com/...rights-to-south-american-world-cup-qualifiers This article explains it a little better. Looks like they'll be working with the TV stations in each country in South America that broadcast their teams games to bring that content to the US.
Yes, and that makes it a more complicated process to negotiate. It could end up being one of those things where Brasil and Argentina home matches are bought up to the highest bidder as a priority and then that will start the domino effect for the rest of the process. It could be multiple different TV and Digital app platforms that purchase each rights separately as compared to one big conglomerate like beIN sports the last two cycles. And beIN sports is actually losing money in North America and had to lay off a bunch of people so I would not be surprised if they are trying to negotiate the price as low as they can compared to when money was no object last negotiation deal. (And the pay-per-view option that Ivbeto mentioned is still on the table unfortunately. At least for some of the matches.)

Watching Colombia 5-0 Argentina from 1993 at the moment.First thing that strikes me is how good Colombia are at pressing from the front.Valencia never stops and Asprilla is so quick to drop in and support the midfield.Out of possesion Colombia are so energetic and compact. pic.twitter.com/ZesX9wfydz— Simon Edwards (@SimonEdwardsSAF) April 11, 2020 Happy Easter Nice thread for this Easter Sunday without fútbol.
I’ve been following Simon Edwards for the past month on twitter. Has anyone else been following him? Is he legit? Seems like he knows his stuff but when I tried asking some questions thAt were more serious he was either afraid to opine or simply didn’t want to give an opinion.
