It'll be interesting to see how the pandemic effects spending this summer. I bet a lot of purse strings will be tightened.

Hard to imagine of a summer transfer window in these conditions

^ for those who believe this transfer is on.

though it must be said doesn't matter how heavy your bias is against Solskjær, no one can deny his transfers have been spot on. that would make me more inclined to believe this than in previous seasons.

in fact, all of his moves, ins and outs have pretty much been spot on

If true, think Jack Graelish antics will have ended any chance of us signing him.

    Yes :)

Multiple (poor) sources and pics that he reportedly went around to other Villa player flat for party during lockdown. Left in early hours supposedly drunk and hit parked cars. Left his details and made off on foot to be picked up later. Pics of him showing odd footwear etc.

Could be complete garbage, but probs enough if any truth to end our interest.

If you have read SAF autobio and consider Ole a disciple you will know what I mean :)

Cool player, but no one has still told me how he fits.

Even in the probable case we don't get Sancho, Grealish plays on the left.

This forum has rejected many targets because of things like that.

He does look an absolute state in the pictures of him. I'm a little bit prejudiced against how thick he looks and how dumb he sounds when he generally talks. I remember the pictures of him paralytic on the floor when he was younger too. Anything he does that seems stupid or irresponsible just seems completely believable.

I think he's a much better player than some here give him credit for but not as good as the majority seem to think. I can see how we could just about make him work in our squad if we only consider him on the pitch, if we leave it up to him to compete for the first XI rather than be an automatic starter, and even then it only works if we sell Pogba. But I just don't see how he fits us off the pitch, and I don't think his creativity or vision equates to match intelligence in the way it does for Bruno, for example.

Considering the source, make of it what you will. And the (eventual) £400k/wk pay packet is eye popping too: would put him right on par with Sanchez as not just the highest paid player in the team, but in the Prem as a whole. But if he becomes the player he's expected to be...
Not sure what his initial salary would be but we can still imagine it will pretty significant. And can't see many teams willing or able to pay that much for him on top of the high fee Dortmund have already clearly stated they will demand. Huge investment, that much is certain, but the returns, both on the pitch and commercially, could make it worth it.

That 400k/week must include singing bonus and other incentives. I doubt that the base figure.

Never mind singing bonus, for £400k a week I want him doing his own choreography and pyrotechnics.

This is definitely a number that's either made up or at best combining EVERYTHING into just weekly payments. Possibly image rights are in there too. And I can't see us justifying £400k a week of any form unless we've got an exit strategy for Alexis sorted.

In two years if he keeps progressing... which the tweet clearly states...

Then you'd assume he would be worth 400k. At least relative to the times.

We are in the midst of a global financial crash to go with the pandemic, and a lot of clubs are negotiating temporary pay cuts with their playing staff within a couple of weeks of having gate receipts taken away from them, which may well be for 6 months. I'm no expert but I think 'relative to the times' is a huge variable right now. I'd be amazed if we're paying £350-400k unless he's won a Ballon d'Or, Champions League and at least two BAFTAs.

I thought the article implied that he would eventually make it should he progress like they think. For all we know, they think he's a future balon d'oro winner. I think so too.

I googled bafta, it has to do with film. So i don't know what you're trying to say there. Or was that a joke.

It has to be incentives. “Progressing” is too subjective for both the player and the club IMO. Players and clubs don’t enter in to contracts with that language, there’s always KPI’s to be met.

Its a rag, who cares about their choice of words?

Also is it even really that subjective? United have been reported to be putting bonuses as well as add ons to transfer fee's with parameters of winning the CL or winning EPL or winning Balon Doro

Yes, those are known as incentives.

we'v also put negative incentives/performance based punishments as well so it would hardly be a surprise if true

Everything was implied in the tweet.

I really dont get how this 400k claim is having people shook. Have we all not been paying attention to the last 5 to 10 years?

All that really matters is the base. If we assume that £400k a week is only if Jason Sancho becomes king of all football in a few years, then we may end up starting him off at £250k-£280k. To me that sounds fine, but we won't have room for too many of those.

    This is all irrelevant.

The recession level we're about to come into following this will have insanely deep, long lasting impacts.
