The battle to keep Americans from understanding what went on January to March is going to be one of the biggest propaganda and freedom of information fights in modern US history. https://t.co/X5ImkrTPsB Precisely because so much of it is public, confusion has to be made massive.— Jay Rosen (@jayrosen_nyu) March 29, 2020 The future is FLA Gov. DeSantis today. The governor who left the beaches and almost all commerce open as the virus spread like wildfire across the country is now blaming his state's outbreak on New York and New Yorkers fleeing to Florida. This is the new political message.— Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) March 28, 2020
Pettiest man alive: MA received 17% of requested medical supplies from the Trump admin. ME: 5%. CO: 1 day's worth.FL got everything they requested. + an identical shipment the next week. oh, and a 3rd is on the way.https://t.co/4AmYkn70Jm pic.twitter.com/ZUCGF2NsfX— Jesse Lehrich (@JesseLehrich) March 29, 2020
People will die for preserving the principle of the very wealthy to keep their money. Which is noble, I suppose. But a bit strange that in supporting Trump they have abandoned their principles on family values, sexual assault, corruption, basic human decency, truthfulness, and portions of the Constitution. But here they have drawn the line and said, "Nope, people may die, but these principles will not be violated." Ummm, yeah. I guess.

Announcing that you’re “considering” a quarantine without actually being prepared to do it immediately (if he CAN even do it) sounds like a pretty good way to get people to panic and leave the city, which is kind of the opposite of the goal of a quarantine. https://t.co/6Y0ru1ZXz9— Julian Sanchez (@normative) March 28, 2020 I'm a huge Dylan fan, so this is cool. The thing is, Atlanta and the cities that make up metro Atlanta do have shelter in place in effect, despite the Governor's refusal to do so statewide. Not sure if that changes things or not, but it's a little misleading when the largest city by far in Georgia is doing more than just social distancing.

Well, I obviously can't dispute the bad numbers we're seeing. I just know that Atlanta and where I live, which is small city on the border of Atlanta (think how Cambridge is to Boston) has had shelter in place for about a week now.
Free market and all that: NEW: To prepare for pandemics, the U.S. worked with a small company for years to advance a low-cost portable ventilator. It fell apart after a multi-billion dollar company bought the firm. The new executives saw the project as not sufficiently profitable. https://t.co/jdbtIVnX7V— Mike Baker (@ByMikeBaker) March 29, 2020
Cultural affinity is a powerful thing. He speaks for white Christians. That alone gets him further than I could have ever imagined. He has their vote, plus those of millions of white people who aren't really practicing Christians, but who share a cultural affinity. I guess I need to accept that what he does and says will always be largely beside the point.
Crazy that a guy who is in no way shape or form a Christian (mr i have never had to ask the Lord for forgiveness AND mr TWO Corinthians) is also the guy speaking for white Christians. Says something really troubling about what faith has become in the US.
Exhibit A, of many. Trump gave away America’s supplies so that there would be a shortage, and then he would control distribution to reward allies and punish enemies. This crisis was deliberate. https://t.co/5OaQcwWvpj https://t.co/uM65VGkJMx— Unvarnished Truth™ 🇺🇦 🌻 (@CDN_Stoic) March 29, 2020
I despise Trump, but I wouldnt attribute that level of foresight to him. He is just shortsighted and incompetent. No reason to attribute complex reasoning to things with simple answers.
On the other hand, in some ways it's a continuation of our long-term terrible health performance, with life expectancy lagging ever farther behind other advanced countries even before the pandemic 2/ pic.twitter.com/cN1rKELd7b— Paul Krugman (@paulkrugman) March 29, 2020
