Is there currently an English word that describes an action that is simultaneously both richly arrogant, and deeply ignorant? If not, then by all means lets coin "trumpian" for that usage.

There’s probably a 15 syllable German word for it. [emoji23]

Lol, no doubt. Well let this be a shorter and newer German word, it can replace the long ones.

I was listening to podcast this AM and El Douche was described as being a complete sociopath and an utter moron. That may seems right to me.

I hadn't heard that but it wouldn't surprise me. This stuff should simply be 'requisitioned' if that is the case.

Well, for those who were alarmed last week, it did not take too long for this scumbag's number to be under water. Compared with those of other Western leaders (Angela, Macron, Conte etc), they were anemic to start with. We can guess where they will go from there.

A Navigator tracking poll finds President Trump is now under water on his handling of the coronavirus outbreak — this week, Trump saw a 13-point swing in his net approval on his handling of the pandemic, from 52% to 42% (+10) to 47% to 50% (-3).
Key finding: “Trump is wildly out of step with Americans with his new push to relax social distancing. Only 5% say we should roll back precautions, even at the expense of economic losses, while 74% say we should wait however long it takes for public health experts to say it’s safe, including 70% of Republicans.”

The first part is certainly true. He can't muster any concern for dead people at all, even when that is what he is supposed to be doing. He goes to hospitals after tragedies and turns that into a grinning photo-op session. He goes to Puerto Rico, says that they lie about how many dead they have, and tosses paper towels as a joke. We're losing 100s per day now and he can't force himself to talk about them, instead he's handing out pens and wrangling so that his name can be put on checks.

In the unlikely event that he were a military officer, his troops would shoot him in the back.

Utter moron sounds about right too, but listing the evidence for that would take far, far too long for this post.

Putin is far, far more competent than Trump, although maybe equally willing to kill his citizens. But overall, yeah, you have a point.

That is about 10 minutes from where my mom lives, and about 3 blocks from her church. No, people will be stupid and spread/die. The only way I can see this being serious managed is by passing some law which makes it illegal to be out. Not sure how that would be enforced, but might get some people to stop being stupid.

Yes, let's bring first responders into MORE contact with potentially infectious individuals.

Alternatively, let's subject citizens to the police for even more crimes.

I think fining healthy carriers of this disease to pay for propping up the health service is a fair way to go.

Will you just ********ing stop already. Your posts consist of, "that's as stupid idea...that's a stupid idea...you don't know what you are talking about...that's a stupid idea."

It might be stretch for you, but a thoughtful response would be helpful and a positive contribution. I know it is possible, I've seen you do it once or twice.

That was nearly half century ago, even more recent than Tuskegee. The point I was making was not the long term effects, but that testing had moved from the US where there tends to be more oversight and to Africa where there is almost certainly less oversight. And that is not even getting into the inherent racism associated with the decision.

MInd, I'm not downplaying the horrendousness of it (and I didn't know about it until your suggestion).

That is his MO, to blame others for his failure, and making him look bad/weak.

Yeah, but it won't be because of any stay in place directive, it will be because not enough people will be able to make it.

I would actually put Duterte in the lead. Maybe not ahead of Putin, but giving him a run. Individual One might be callous, but Duterte will actually do the deed, so he claims.

The point is, there is no good solution and lots of very smart people lots of you trusted implicitly 5 years ago have proven some of these measures counterproductive. Actively counterproductive. Bringing the people we rely on to "serve and protect" into unnecessary contact for what amounts to "Papieren, bitte" can make things a whole lot worse.
