A lot depends on whether there will be an effective vaccine. I read some immunologist saying there is no reason to think you can't make a vaccine, but then you never know.
Doc on tv said that they made some headway on coronavirus treatments 15-20 yrs ago. But profitability was questionable at the time for Big Pharma So they focused on the tried & true stuff like boner and cholesterol reducing pills.
Yesterday as I was contemplating when I might feel safe going to get a haircut, I realized we may be seeing longer hairstyles. Or just really bad hairstyles if we let family members cut our hair.
Typing from Milan, Italy: welcome in our world. (I am a teacher, I am afraid soon my students in videoconference will be forced to see me sporting a ponytail or something of the kind).
First sign of unraveling of the self appointed superclubs: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...risis-players-face-wage-cuts-coronavirus.html Barcelona's quarantined stars 'at war with the club's board' after REFUSING their plea to take a 70 per cent wage cut, as coronavirus decimates the season in a country where over 4,000 have now died Barcelona are on the verge of a wage row during the coronavirus crisis Spanish clubs are being asked to temporarily slash wages to secure futures The standard cut rate is 70%, which Barca's playing squad has baulked at President Josep Maria Bartomeu is looking to strike a more favourable deal Barca will be harder hit by the crisis after spending badly in recent seasons The corona virus will have a lasting impact on the clubs that were spending like crazy, riding the waves of lucrative sponsor/media deals. The amazing thing is that it only took one week after the lockdown of leagues to get to this point.
To the Editor: Sure NBA Players make a lot of money, but we SPEND a lot of money too... Regards, P Ewing
My wife's been buzzing mine for years, I feel fully prepared for this day. And to that end, Costco generally carries a fine set of clippers. Ours actually came with a haircutting instruction DVD that we never watched.
Over here in the Netherlands there is an upsurge of sales of haidresser's kits and electric trimmers. So we're expecting a tsunami of bad hairdays.
The corona crisis is having an effect on the mental health of people. https://hbr.org/2020/03/that-discomfort-youre-feeling-is-grief Which isnot strange. It's virtually inescapble. On the news, empty shelves, people constantly talking about it. In here in BS it's almost impossible to keep track with the pages written that contain corona posts.
There's going to be a massive rethinking of the gig economy. 1. Instacart workers are planning a strike for Monday. 2. Municipal governments have been struggling, ideologically, with what Air B'n'B is. Does it affect housing affordability in a real way, or only marginally? Wondering how much housing AirBnB removes from the local housing market? https://t.co/2n6q8HNrlE— Craig Gilmore (@CraigOGilmore) March 22, 2020
Let’s see, 30% of that is .....er... still one hell of a lot more than the average guy would get for doing nothing. Marca reported that the Frenchman’s five-year contract is worth a cool €105 million, which averages out at €21m per season and €404,000 per week. And Griezmann’s not the only player with an eye-watering salary at the Camp Nou.
I would expect that after a while, people will understand they really can work from home, and communicate with people (after all my coworkers figure out how to use a mute button, frikin' morons) So, maybe one self-driving car per household? The decision to move a little further out from their place of employment? Also, I suspect people will borrow less and save more (terrible for the economy). I have lots of other ideas. More latter-day-saints-food storage. And TP. We're all going to have a room full of toilet paper.
