I'm not sure that chart is statistically sound. Isn't it basically inevitable that US would go from its 100th positive case to 50k cases faster than Italy, Spain, etc. simply because its 5 times bigger? I would be interested to see a line in that chart which combines Italy, Spain and Germany numbers together. How long did it take those 3 countries to go from 100 cases (combined) to 100k? [But yes, still worrying that the US increase is that much worse than even Spain's or Italy's]
AS Celito said, yesterday was the most deadliest day yet in Spain. Same was true for the UK (115): https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/ So your post was 33% accurate.
Since the US was late in testing and now it has ramped up quite a bit, it's gonna show a steep line that is probably steeper than reality. You probably also have a bunch of people of have/had it and won't ever get tested.
True. Although there are still some big states that have barely begun testing (Florida). I still say US will hit one million cases before Easter.
The shelter in place is real here in California. Nobody is doing anything outside of what is considered “essential work”.
Really? Not in New York. I mean its definitely quiet before 8am and after 8pm. But step outside late afternoon on a sunny day and there's at least as many people outside as normal.
New 'point-of-care' finger-prick tests for coronavirus are being rolled out https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2020...-prick-expanded-criteria/12089608?pfmredir=sm Can detect in 15 min
yea it’s quite as f*ck out here. Almost everyone is working from home outside of people with essential jobs. Although some restaurants are still open but it’s for take out only & done in a “safe” manner (F that I’m not taking that chance). There are still families going for walks throughout the neighborhood especially in the early evening. But everyone is keeping their space. My wife, myself, and our kid have been going on walks but you can see someone coming coming from a few blocks away so we just switch to other side of the street and wave hello as the other person passes. I personally don’t see any issues with this at the moment. Its the same with solo joggers running in the middle of the street. They are not getting close to anyone I don’t see an issue with this at the moment either.
Not directly relevant but very likely a taste of things to come over a variety of other Sports/Leagues: VTB League decided to cancel the season according to the president of Avtodor Saratov Vladimir Rodionov. VTB consists of teams from Russia, Poland, Belarus, Estonia and Kazakhstan, including Euroleague teams CSKA Moscow, Khimki and St. Petersburg. There will be no champion this season.
Unemployment is so high over coronavirus that N.Y. has to hire more workers to handle jobless claims The job-killing coronavirus pandemic sent nearly 3.3 million Americans to the unemployment line last week, shattering a nearly 40-year old record, while forcing New York to hire more workers to handle the jobless claims. With even more layoffs looming, the list of industries hit by the relentless global viral outbreak reads like a list of fallen soldiers. https://www.nydailynews.com/new-yor...0200326-pxsosgaxxzaftczsmujx5h376a-story.html
Unfortunately people living paycheck to paycheck will be faced with other serious life challenging obstacles in addition to hoping to avoid this awful virus. Not having money for food or rent may be a more serious issue to some people than avoiding the virus. It’s not a good situation.
I know that, but business for theaters, restaurants, and all public events will be catastrophic ight now even if they are allowed to open. You basically risk having an entire workforce infected which means you have to close anyway. This is not an "either/or" situation. A restaurant that has a virus outbreak go public will effectively have to shut down it's business anyway.
On March 15, Till and his LINDEMANN band performed a concert in Moscow. Upon his return to his home country of Germany, he was hospitalized with an extremely high fever and he later tested positive for coronavirus. He was immediately sent to intensive care and placed under quarantine. Rammstein vocalist. The guy is a legend in Germany, and i guess quite famous around the world.
This is true. Even if the virus suddenly disappears, nobody can be certain what'll happen in fall, so people would in any case limit their travels, eating out, pubs, dance schools, etc.
You can read in one of my previous posts that i actually wished good health for a US senator who was part of bullying my country into overthrowing my government, potentially risking my life. I have no problem with BoJo at all, so i wish him the same.
