I always thought they were 100% supporter run and community owner based on an interview with Chris Jones the founder, I didn't know a chairman had some money. I also recall some of the NFC FO being unaware of rumours that Harrisburg had interest in moving into town. There appears to be some disjoint among all the moving parts over in Nashville... Hopefully this won't blow up to something toxic like in Detroit, I wish NFC all the best with their move to the next level.
I just hope they pay players fully. I have heard of at least one players who was not paid up as full according to his contract.
http://www.tennessean.com/story/spo...up-aims-buy-nashville-football-club/85037754/ The organization working to bring a United Soccer League team to Nashville sent a letter of intent to acquire the assets of the city's existing soccer team. On Friday, DMD Soccer, which was recently awarded a franchise by the USL — which is two tiers below Major League Soccer, the highest level of pro soccer in the United States — sent a letter toNashville Football Club in an effort to purchase their name and logo to use for a future franchise. Nashville FC, the city’s existing amateur team which was founded in 2013, competes in the National Premier Soccer League.
...and bye-bye to any notion of being 100% supporter owned. Welcome to corporate, LLC ownership. Should we change the thread title now?
end of the NPSL team: http://www.uslsoccer.com/news_article/show/665925?referrer_id=2333971 The new Nashville FC USL team approached the amateur, supporter-owned club about acquiring the Nashville FC brand after announcing in May they had been awarded a USL franchise. The club’s members voted overwhelmingly to approve the brand purchase in exchange for a 1 percent equity stake in the USL team and a voting seat on its board.
the 1% sure seems pretty paltry...I've also been hearing some rumblings that the NPSL team might not go out of business. Guess need to stay tuned to the developing story...lol

I like how the author of the linked piece acts like NPSL is pro soccer (it's not) and then seems upset that pro soccer then acts like a business.
A very biased and slanted article. Was the objective of fans of Nashville FC to own/control a semi-pro team or was it to gain a pro team, maybe MLS? Very different goals. PS I guarantee that NFC had zero impact on City Islanders decision to not move. Even the article has that as just conjecture.
I'm all for media covering soccer, but if their objective is to go "after" the perceived evils of corporate clubs and MLS, it's a real turn off.
I heard of some players were not paid in full by the end of last year. But one player in question returned to play this year which I presume means it was settled.
Frankly, I'd love it if an investor came in, bought our NPSL team and elevated it to the USL. Considering the new owners could have just ignored them and started a new club, causing a lot of animosity in the community, I think they approached it in the right way by joining forces. And given the money required to start a USL team, handing them a 1% stake sounds pretty generous. The story here isn't the death of a supporter-owned club. It's that a group of supporters started a club, built a strong following and were able to attract investors to elevate the club. That's a major success in my book.
Btw I update my previous post, from 100% supporter owned, to 1% and now zero. That deescalated quickly.
