They are planning on closing the beaches. The old stable door routine. But as you say far too late.

Because I have my own psychopath, I had to study this, and the answer is "sort of"

I had a very strange experience where i sat down for a 1:1 with my psychopath who then proceeded to tell crazy lies. It was quite bizarre because it was a situation where we both knew directly what happened and he knew i knew.

So why lie? Did he believe it?

To some extent this personality type has to avoid being confronted with any truth which damages their ego or causes shame, so they lie in insane ways, even when they know they won't be believed.

It is essentially why there is no point in listening to anything they say.

Interestingly Hitler took this to insane levels. e.g Speer famously tried to see Hitler to try to make him see some reason. Hitler refused to see him. Speer wrote him a letter. Hitler had it locked in a safe unopened. When Guderian was CoS he used to get the adjutant to read back the transcripts from previous days "to refresh Hitler's mind" about the orders Hitler had himself given.

This is also why Trump ends up being surrounded by sycophants

The news media would do the US a great favour if they bothered to learn any of this stuff.

Yes - and the logic means go big/go early

You might as well take the most restrictive steps as soon as you can, because they will have more impact

So Quebec has gone from 385 to 1013 since Monday.(!!)

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/globalnews.ca/news/6723874/quebec-coronavirus-march-24/amp/

Tomorrow my immunosuppressant ass and I begin the journey from Quebec City to St. Petersburg, Florida by vehicle and, I hope, a very empty direct flight from Plattsburgh. I feel like I am in a science fiction movie.

And yes I know Florida is not the ideal place to go, but it's where I can most comprehensively and comfortably quarantine myself long term. (I've thought this through. Really.)

Louisiana’s coronavirus has grown faster in two weeks than anywhere else in the world.
From zero to 1,388 in14 days more than LA county that is 26 times larger.

Mardi Gras was the perfect storm. Much the same as PA’s bond raising parade of 1918.

Glenn Beck willing to be killed like that young girl was in 1990

“I mean, I’m in the danger zone. I’m right at the edge, I’m 56,” he said. “In Italy they’re saying if you’re sick and you’re 60, don’t even come in. So I’m in the danger zone.”

“I would rather have my children stay home and all of us who are over 50 go in and keep this economy going and working,” Beck added. “Even if we all get sick, I would rather die than kill the country. Because it’s not the economy that’s dying, it’s the country.”

President of El Salvador just did this. He basically froze the country for three months in time, sending money to everyone, postponing utility bills and differing every type of loan. Yeah, it’s easier because it’s a very small country, but that’s how a qualified leader should have managed a crisis of this magnitude.

That is how I feel about the pre-pandemic days

March 9th: I remember standing at my door in Hamburg thinking "am i really going to do this?"

There still seemed no reason not to. HAM was deserted but my plane to London was full. LGW was deserted. I went through immigration with no wait. That has NEVER happened before. London seemed normal.

March 10th. Corporate event. A real mix between "thank god this event happened" "why is this even even happening" and "tomorrow my company is banning everyone from attending events". After match drinks - a sense of normality. Everyone making plans but a few of us were saying ... London is Italy, just 2 weeks in the past.

I said that to people 15 days ago!

March 11th. Flight to DBX is empty. Talking to an Irish stew who has lost many shifts.

March 12th: DBX emptier then i have ever seen it. In the airline lounge for 9 hours surrounded by cleaners. Flight to Sydney fullish. Air of normality

March 13th: Sydney - rammed. Business as usual. What the actual? Talking with the bar girl. "Yeah - everyone is here because the rest of the world is screwed"

March 25th: After 12 days of isolation - looks like I threaded the eye of the needle ...

People also need to stop acting like everyone who's vulnerable is already on death's door anyway. I'm on immunosuppressants because I had a kidney transplant. I certainly don't look like I am on death's door. And I'm not. Neither did equally immunosuppressant Alonzo Mourning when he had 9 blocks vs. the Knicks when he was (like me now) in year 2 post transplant.

China is a big, enormous country that had a serious spread of the virus. They locked down, and now are coming out of it. 19 days since there has been a case in Wuhan province. You earlier stated that we can do both. Contain the virus and open the economy. No. No, we cannot. Why would you think that we could? Are you paying attention? It was less than one month ago that President Trump was talking about 15 cases that would be down to zero in a couple of days. One month. We are now at 53,000 cases. One month. If the Congress does its job, they can provide the funds to tide people over for a couple of months. Then, the economy would grow again. This lockdown is not the economic death sentence that Trump and his minions on fox say that it is. What WILL be devastating to our economy is a couple of million deaths and a virus that continues to spread right onto through the summer and into next fall. People talk about this like it is our "greatest generation moment" and yet we are such gigantic woosies that we can't lock down for a couple of months. Yes, we need to help out people who live pay check to pay check. So, do that, ride it out and then onward and upward.

I don't think human nature changes all that much, all that quickly. I think it's more the difference between FDR and Trump. Think about the dialogue between Michael J. Fox and Michael Douglas in The American President.

I honestly think that even with the Internet and social media and 500 channels, if someone like FDR (or Obama) were president, the American people would rise to the challenge.

Rachel’s parting shot tonight. There’s a US County.??? That is going to test and keep tabs on every single person of that State.
Should be interesting. Especially after Trump coerced Fauci into saying ‘not everyone needs a test.’

    1) Well for starters, there's the whole "working on the sabbath" circle to square...

    2) Then there is Ezekiel

Basically, Oholah (Samaria) and Oholibah Jerusalem. Oholah are amoral boomer / Gen X Y & Z racists / libertarians / conservatives who followed Trump for political gain, money grifting, etc. Oholibiah are the Dominionist Christians who have installed & supported him for the goal of gaining political dominion over the country & in their hopes, the world. Trust me, the latter would let Trump fuck their wives / mothers / daughters in a heartbeat if they thought it would give them more power to hurt POC / Poors / Foreigners & roll back to a genteel Antebellum world / Gilded Age world where the the few control the many.

And I'm too far tired after the literal worst day of my life repeating itself for the 3rd motherfucking time, to get any deeper into the OT tonight, let alone what the Son of God & his merry band of misfits had to say in the NT about this.

More later, but fuck, I'm going to need two nooses to unfuck this shit...

I saw that today. I'm mostly out except for a couple of stocks (Moderna, Blue Apron, Snap) and I have generally been moving opposite the market. But, today, man that was a day of trading based on hope.

I'm the opposite. I usually dollar cost average the four best index funds our 403b has available with a 60/40 split, but I'm pouring money into those at the moment. Sure, stocks are taking a hit, but long term treasury bonds are absolutely killing it and other than a drop last week the us bond index fund has been really good. The stock market is on sale and I'm buying.

I recall a story very early, before this was at pandemic level, of a woman who got reinfected.

Additionally, this virus is mutating really, really fast, so it really does seem like somebody would be able to get reinfected with no or minimized symptoms.

I think there are going to be more and more stories of events like Mardi Gras or the Atalanta v. Valencia match where there was mass transmission. Yes, very similar to the Philadelphia parade in 1918.

This is an understatement. It's like you knew what was coming, and were racing to stay just ahead of it.

Among those couple of million death with those who were leaders and knew how to lead but died before transition, and those with knowledge, but were unable to pass that knowledge along. It will also be the people who were ready to be leaders or ready to take take the knowledge to the next level. The devastation and longer term recession, will be if we don't lock down.

    https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2020-03-24/retailers-coronavirus-rents

Certain chains like Subway are going to the owners of their strip malls and saying, we ain't got it, so we ain't paying. They're Trump in the early 90s.

The retailers may invoke force majeur. Another candidate for word of the year. (Yes, I know it's a phrase not a word. At least I didn't say less stores or some other heinous sin.(

So this is when you know that this is truly serious. For those that don’t know, Waffle House being open is a FEMA indicator. Waffle House has stayed open after some serious storms over the years.

On a related note, Waffle House is an experience unto itself. But I love going there.
