Do you remember what game I am talking about? I cant remember the year but it was a cup game and we played the twins in midfield. It was the game that pissed off Pogba because he thought he would get minutes due to all our midfield injuries and SAF played the twins there instead.
For the record, the game that upset Pogs after he'd been left out was a league game v Blackburn (in the 2011-12 season). Rafa played alongside Park in central midfield that day.
That game in the 2nd group stage of the 82 WC is such an all time classic. Such a fantastic game to watch. That was when Brazil was still Brazil (which ultimately cost them). Only needed a draw to advance to the semis but their poor defending cost them. They were so good going forward though with so many amazing talents: Zico, Socrates, Junior, Falcao, Eder, Cerezo just to name those guys. Really should have won the WC that year for sure. Lots of top talent on the Italian side as well: they were shit during the first group stage, but really came along in the 2nd one. Must watch game without a doubt.
Funny how the first few minutes of the game the commentator is talking about how long since Rossi had scored(3 years?) and that people were calling for him to be dropped and then Bam!
Rossi was really emblematic of Italy's campaign that year: didn't do nothing in the first group and by right probably should have been dropped (credit to the coach to stick with him tbh) before exploding vs Brazil. I really hated him too for a long time after that game: first WC I'd ever watched, had been enchanted by that Brazilian team, so my 7yr old self was absolutely crushed when they lost that game. Would love to be able to find the complete game of the France vs Germany semi final: that was another terrific and memorable encounter as well.
Don't know if folks have seen this, but these are highlights from this year for Martial. The music is TERRIBLE. But the highlights are good.
