Well, I was at a hobby show in Cleveland on the 7th. At least 3 dealers have it. Two of whom I visited. We shall see. I've had a cough, but that could be seasonal allergies. No fever. Working from home (as is Mrs KG, now) since Tuesday. We're stocked up for a few weeks (Mrs KG likes having a chest freezer). We'll see how long this lasts.
@kgilbert78 : "well, I was at a hobby show in Cleveland on the 7th. At least 3 dealers have it. Two of whom I visited. We shall see. I've had a cough, but that could be seasonal allergies. No fever." Know the symptoms. Promising treatment drug combo now available to those who need it. Any increase in complaints get to a hospital pronto. Stay safe.
Readier than you'll ever know......minus the "without casualties". Lines are being drawn in the only game that matters now my friend: Endgame.
I think so as well..as for casualties, who cares as long as its the...you know who am talking about. Good to hear from you guys...and god bless
hope everybody is well! corona hotbed Heinsberg county (south of Gladbach) seems to have seen the peak... the curve is flattening more and more; death count is at 44 (250.000 pop.), fortunately intensive care units weren't tested to the core so far (well, that's the capacity, I guess the staff was under heavy pressure but did great) right now University of Bonn is doing a big study in the county's worst affected part; they are reconstructing the ill-fated carnival-session in every detail and are turning the houses of former infected upside down... it seems 'Schmierinfektionen' (infections because you touch door knobs, sinks, remote controls ... or shopping carts also) aren't a very huge problem (breathing, coughing, hugging etc is) because they only found scarce (and dead) traces of covid-19 ... they even tested the house cats which were cooperative but not infected so, time to take a breath over here... and wait for the next wave in autumn/winter? :-( Hopp of Hoppenheim is majority shareholder at a medical research company and announced a vaccine maybe this year already... let's hope he's right (sounds optimistic to me but what do I know?) anybody interested in soccer at all? Borussia's players and directors were the first in Bundesliga who proposed to cut the salaries... a cummulated saving of 1M per month for the club they say no players with symptoms so far (nobody tested at all as far as I heard) the company of club-president Königs is producing respiratory masks by now looks like whole Bundesliga started training again the "plan" is to resume play in may (in front of empty seats of course, most likely for the rest of the year)... can't say I'm excited in any manner... the whole thing tastes stale to me... seems the world has other problems than playing soccer then again there are 56.000 jobs connected to 1.+2. Bundesliga and acc. to KICKER 13 of the 36 clubs might face insolvency if this continues much longer (Eberl at an early stage told that Borussia is not one of them) the Belgians drew a line and ended their season, which seems more appropriate but like in the Netherlands their league isn't as greatly depending on TV-money like the big leagues... well, stay calm, stay at home if possible (I was at the supermarket yesterday, kind of crowded but barely anybody was wearing a mask!) and most of all stay healthy!
The one that was in the news yesterday was that the tigers at the Bronx Zoo got it. So we'll see if house cats are immune or not. Hoping they are, as we are owned by four cats.
;-), as long as they are not paying the rent... (in Japan they found out that cats recognize when their human kin is calling them over but other than dogs they just don't c-a-r-e) cat-infections? it APPARENTLY SEEMS to be possible (THEY SAY), but most likely not dangerous for you https://www.welt.de/vermischtes/art...ze-positiv-auf-neuartiges-Virus-getestet.html don't let them lick your face! well, that https://www.morgenpost.de/vermischt...eleckt-und-stirbt-auf-schreckliche-Weise.html was before covid-19 and anyhow a bacterium, not a virus but still... has happened in Ohio, too ;-)
unfortunately the Chinese aren't that relaxed regarding cats https://science.sciencemag.org/content/early/2020/04/07/science.abb7015/tab-pdf seems you would be better off being owned by four chickens or four pigs intermediate results of the university study of the most affected part/subdivision/Gemeinde of Heinsberg county based on the test-group (this is not Wuhan or New York we are talking about, not hundreds of people living closely together in the same house, just a rural region with two small towns >3000 residents and some villages around) 15% of the population infected and 'cured' (not exactly herd immunity so far) 2% currently infected 0,37% mortality rate (this of course strongly correlates with the number of testing you do: the more you test, the lower the rate) 4,63 is the factor by which the 'real' number of infections exceeds the confirmed infections (see bracket above) the Belgians are re-thinking their season's termination (UEFA didn't like it) the Dutch are planning to resume play 19th of july Bundesliga is planning to resume play 9th of may! (wishful thinking for my taste, seems some in German soccer are still suffering from a loss of reality... I mean there have to be a lot of testing to do so... testing other people might need more than soccer players) happy EASTER! (in any manner)
Bundesliga says it's ready to restart the season on 9th of may... but also that at the end (well-advised) politicians have to make the call (some positive signals so far) like so often in contemporary western societies the people (even the supporters) are separated by trenches: 'back to normal' vs. 'it's much too early' Schalke's king of the pork sides offered to use his premium-certified pig laboratory for Bundesliga-corona-testing but in the meantime testing-capacity has upped to 100.000 a day and shouldn't be a problem anymore... (my sister was tested tuesday afternoon and had her negative result in the mail in mid morning today)... while Bundesliga is desperately waiting for the starting shot, dutch prime minister Rutte has already fired... the closing shot namely ... no events until september so season is ending right now (he didn't ask UEFA for permission I guess) rumors (out): Zak (L'pool), Plea (United) [Borussia: "There will be no sell-out."] rumors (in): Vasialidis (Strobl-replacement), Streli Mamba (both P'born), Maina (H96)... and yes, Malang Sarr again Vasialidis is somewhat obvious, the rest maybe net-noise only...
dutch and french soccer are not continuing belgians are still re-thinking (until 15th of may) most of the others are bravely trying/planning to continue Portugal is the first to set a date (May 30th) and Bundesliga might be the first to go live seems 'back to normal' has won over here (ok, matches without spectators are not 'normal' although the Goattown-coach said the atmosphere reminds him of the good old 'Bolzplatz' - the 'fields' the kids and bushleague-amateurs played on) some hurdles are already overcome, but there are problems that must not be underestimated, f.e.: + Cologne has two infected players and Gladbach one (and one infected physiotherapist each) + Hertha's Kalou got sacked after giving handshakes to some of his co-workers and proudly showing it to the world (it's not his fault, just a child of his time, the somewhat braindead selfie-generation is to blame ;-) still, mid-may is the plan... p.s. acc. to media Borussia is missing ~ 15m € of revenue, but still standing rock-solid... other than P'born, Bremen and, yes, S04 f.e. ...
Bundesliga got a clearance from the authorities today... for the 2nd half of may DFL (German Soccer League) is still discussing the exact date... seems they're not planning to waste much time: most likely matchday 26 starts next week on friday...
nobody is wondering about P'born... they never had the opportunity to fatten themselves up... especially given their elevator trips through the leagues in the last years... and on the Bundesliga-level this is a tiny club but Schalke?... that's just financial mismanagement... their youth department is awesome! but unlike Gladbach they hardly ever manage to keep their 'toppers' on board or to get them gilded... and on the transfermarket they rarely dig gold for many seasons (Harit, maybe Kabak and who else?) there is a lot of talk recently about soccer going back to the basics, about economic rationality and so on and there are many predictions about the end of high wages and huge transfer fees after COVID-19... I'm not sure about that...
back to basics? that was only Bundesliga-talk, nobody was so foolhardy to have the English TOP6 in mind ;-)))) [I guess clubs like Norwich are more similar to Mainz or Freiburg than to the TOP6]... but the topic started already pre-COVID-19... Eberl and Ginter were a prominent part of this in the media (there is even talk about a salary-cap right now... just talk because Bundesliga-clubs aren't franchises like in MLS... can't see this happen... and if: the pimped parts of EPL and La Liga will rub their hands) so, it seems somebody at the DFL figured out next week friday is not part of the 2nd half of may... so saturday, 16th is the starting day.... F'furt - BORUSSIA it is! good news: the 'infected' Borussia-Player is training again, seems the strategy is to wait until multiple testing scared away the last traces of corona... bad bad REALLY BAD NEWS: Zak out, most likely for the rest of the season (his knee -hurt from this strange Sommer-Zak-collision back then- caused new problems... operated already) ... hate it! that's severely lessening our opportunities! I'll try to call league CEO Christian Seifert (“Every game day is a chance to prove that we deserve the next game day”), he does not know me, but he is a known Gladbach-sympathizer, so he should know what I'm talking about and he should scrub the whole thing before L'kusen is overtaking us ;-) seems internationally everybody is looking at Bundesliga now: some wanting it to succeed (to rake in TV and sponsor-money themselves f.e. ;-), some wanting it to fail... and a lot of addicts already suffering from soccer-prohibition are going to watch... the question is how good the 'product' can be?: "We are not going to have games with fans and for me that is what makes it special. Playing football is fun and is challenging but what makes it exceptional is the community aspect of it.That is gone and I don't want to pretend like it is not a huge thing. It is a huge thing and it is what makes it special." (Neven Subotic) and then there is inadequate preparation (fitness etc), injury risks and so on... and the possibility of new covid-19-cases ... but at least they are trying and I really hope later on we'll say: it was honorable and...successful...
They gotta do what they gotta do....................but it won't matter. Season dead to me. MLS wants to play with fans-even if it takes all year to complete it. Only 2 games done-no way to have a real season w/o a full schedule here. If they get back I'll try to wrap my head around where they were, otherwise F-it. Of course; the Shield can be delayed, but never stopped. They'll see to that..........................
It's been said that the NFL would do just fine without fans in stadia as most of the revenue comes from TV. Guess we may just find out if that is true.
so I re-phrase: and some -even soccer-sympathizers- lost interest at all! ;-) emotionally and from the sporting point it was already dead to me in march... the restart is more the start of a new season, a new competition... even perhaps a new kind of sport (with new rules! 5 substitutions!)... curious if it's rising from the dead for me;-) but of course it's more than emotions and sport... it's an industry... and scrubbing this season apparently means for some clubs there will be no NEW season at all... that's why Spain & Italy with all their deads are still desperately trying to get it going one way or another... the damage would be bigger than to Bundesliga because for some clubs it's not just about less money, it's about a future without top-tier-soccer at all (at least they say) DFL-chief Seifert told NHL, NBA and NHL have already contacted DFL... Bundesliga is the testtube... I hope there will be no glass shards...
In this country, the "Big 5" in particular, are known as spectator sports. No spectators? No sport. Abject boredom can only take one so far. Without atmosphere, interest will wane. Networks will seek rebates. College football knows this. Have already said without full campus enrollment-and full stadiums- they will cancel the season. THAT my friends......is a deadline. Most major institutions not fortified by outside endowments will collapse under the strain of their outlays. They provide free indentured servitude to the leagues. Cut that off............................. You will likely not understand, but there is a large and growing part of me that grudgingly acknowledges fundamentally why this needs to happen. Some things actually do need to carry greater import than games. Anywhere. Besides; by Fall - if not sooner - I'd be expecting my interests to be rapidly expanding in other areas of life. Where we will play for keeps.
well, the team was ready, that's for sure after eight minutes F'furt basically was knocked out (Eintracht's Hütter "we lost all the crucial 1on1s") I had a hunch when I saw Rose and Stindl one week ago: they looked two years younger and burning for action most watched Gladbach match of all time (not that much sporting event-competition on this planet at 18:30 MET, right?) 3rd away win in a row passed L'zig Wendt's 100th win with Borussia: world record for foreign players Rose climbed another Olympus: Gladbach coach with the most substitutions in a competitive match (I guess euphoria is all over him) finishing could have been better and that wasn't only because of (again) Hofmann, but overall: a mature performance of the players and the coaching-team matchday 26, no wonder, looked unreal but also not as pointless & dull as expected (of course it helps when you win...) still, strange times: there was a lot of common sense and serene adaptation to the situation but also hugging, jumping at the back and even kissing... and now we know about the 'unhygienic goal celebration'... who would have thought in 2019? (some mockers say Bundesliga-players are more difficult to handle than kindergarden kids... ) L'kusen next, a win would be a major breakthrough towards CL-soccer next season... (if there is a next season...)
Hello everyone.Hope you and your families have survived the situation so far Well cant complain when you win against a strong side like frankfurt ob the road But am not sure if we didnt score those 2 early goals while frankfurt was less ready to get their feet on the ground solid...what would have we done?? lost 2 or 3 empty 110% scoring situtations..one of them which the goalie wasent even close to the line...poor scoring technique. Also i still believe we need a PK specialist. We are still weak when it comes to set-pieces and corners and of course PK's Otherwise it was 3 important points so...
Mrs KG and I are doing fine. We both can work at home. So we are helping where we can. Was fun to watch the game--though I was accused of "waking up the whole neighborhood" when we scored our first. Hoping we get the game on TV next week. We shall see. ...and 3 points is 3 points....
Did you guys hear about the American kid who was recently training at Borussia Park? He played 2 friendlies for the U16 or U17 team before Coronavirus stopped the youth leagues. I was at one of the matches and met his dad. I think he said they were from Las Vegas. I keep waiting to see if anything is announced, but haven’t seen anything yet.
