Speaking of safety can anyone here tell me how is Colombia handling the situation? Only a couple confirmed cases but otherwise still stable?
I think we're reaching 100 confirmed cases by now. https://www.eltiempo.com/colombia/o...de-coronavirus-confirmados-en-colombia-473150 The handling of the situation at the national government level has been sub-par, allowing too many passengers from overseas to go out from airports and terminals unchecked. https://www.eltiempo.com/economia/e...lta-de-control-en-aeropuerto-el-dorado-474156 Only last night did the President actually address the country and put some more comprehensive measures in place. https://www.eltiempo.com/politica/g...uque-anuncio-nuevas-medidas-economicas-474210 In Bogota they're going to implement social distancing this weekend and I think a lot of municipalities already went that way. https://www.eltiempo.com/bogota/pre...e-el-simulacro-de-cuarentena-en-bogota-474192
The entry of foreigner passengers is restricted since sunday. (despite isnt recommended by WHO) A lot of people is asking to close the arrivals of national to the aireport, but that is absurd and is a violation of the fundamental rights of citizens.........almost no country have adopted that measure.
question, before the virus got too serious I was planning to go on a quick trip to Bogota for about a week. What is the procedure for in coming travelers? I've been reading around recently that everyone gets put into quarantine for 15 days upon arrival, is this true?
Yes...some foreigners have been deported because they violated the quarantine and a colombian woman was captured because that. https://www.lafm.com.co/colombia/co...as-por-violar-orden-de-aislamiento-preventivo https://www.publimetro.co/co/notici...tena-sera-judicializada-esposo-expulsado.html
Yeah, the first case was detected two weeks ahead of Colombia and, if our response have been terrible, Colombia’s has been worse. We will see the number of cases doubling every 3 days in both territories and expect a steep increase in Florida now that more testing is being done. If you want to know what is in store for Colombia and Florida, look at what Italy is experiencing: Just yesterday, 475 people died of COVID19 and they haven’t been able to flatten the growth. In many respects the USA and Colombia are making the same mistakes, allowing the influx of people and not isolating people fast enough. The spring breakers didn’t think any of the measures applied to them. Brace yourselves for an economic recession at the level of 2008, if not worse. After that, the recovery will be long and the way we travel and interact will have changed for a long time.

Racist Orange Pandemic... 2/ (cont’d)*Spanish flu = influenza, which actually started in Kansas*West Nile Virus IS a type of flavivirus, isolated in 1937 from a febrile patient in Uganda“Chinese Virus” is a novel coronavirus. yes I know. I'm low key hyped for the recession. Everything is absurdly expensive here and these prices need to come down. I had plans to maybe buy a home soonish but I had a hunch something huge was going to happen so i've been holding off as for me, i've mostly been in my house. I have gone out here and there but not very long. However, I do start working again in April (in wynwood actually). Fortunately I won't be in contact with a lot of people, should just be maybe 5-6 at most. I feel fine, no symptoms at all. I've been keeping an eye on things but am very calm and not too worried.

Glad to hear you are well. I am in Long Island City which is just outside of Manhattan and it’s weird not seeing that many cars on the Queensboro bridge each day. I have only gone out for walking the dog and for a quick jog here and there. I work for a small company so I’ll be working from home until May...at least.
traffic here has been so awesome, definitely eerie though. Been getting similar vibes to New Years Day or Christmas as its the only time you see everything closed and no one in the streets.
My wife works in healthcare, so we’re pretty aware of how much pressure this is putting in the system. There’s not enough tests, reactives, masks, gloves and all the supply chain is stressed from the tariff war and compounded by the COVID19. We are in our 40s and in good general health, same as our kids, so I’m not so worried about getting critically ill. But We know is a matter of time, because, despite her working far from patients, there’s going to be passed on to nurses, doctors and other people at hospitals. IOW we always expected her to be exposed first. Since schools are closed, I stayed home on vacation for a couple of days and was waiting to figure out how they were going to deal with the pandemic at my place of work. I went back to the office yesterday and there were a lot of precautions in place and the bosses spend the whole day devising a work from home plan who was finally relayed to us around 2 pm. I went out for lunch afterwards. When I came back they told us that the building was going to close for the rest of the week and they were going yo disinfect it. While suspicious I assumed it was due to the election precinct that works there every election, including last Tuesday. Guess what? Just learned that someone that works at the building was diagnosed with COVID19 10 days ago and they just informed most of us. Some of my coworkers are old people with conditions and a couple take care of their parents. I assume those are great news to them. We don’t have older or sick relatives in town, and we have distanced from almost anyone we don’t work with, but we have probably unknowingly spread the virus everywhere we’ve been, mostly grocery stores.
Your thoughts on the current crisis. Governments are unprepared to deal with a crisis of such magnitude, or do the people at the helm really dropped the ball big time? Also, how many deaths will we see in each country and globally?
