This. His reactions are slow. Most of his enganches are a second too late. And the bigger thing is how gassed he gets. As if he'd played the whole match. And when Quintero is gassed, his whole game, which is based on precision and quick thinking, falters.
I personally would still take Quintero 20 minutes a game than most other midfielders at 60+ minutes a game. He just has the creativity and vision to unlock a defense and make a difference. That said, I doubt he will be called up any time soon., Not even sure if he is rated by our current manager.
Subbed in and scored a penalty. Burst still isnt there which is fine, but he also looked gassed after 15 mins which there is no excuse for.

He has been linked with my Chicago Fire before so I am not all that surprised. Factor in the Club is going through a soft re-brand, moving back into an NFL stadium and needs all the hype it can get to stay alive and it makes sense from the MLS perspective. From his career perspective though it is not ideal. (Won't stop me from watching him play at Soldier Field every other week if he does come.)
he doesn't suit the playing style of any MLS teams (maybe Inter Miami). So this would suck hard for him
His passing and crossing would be much appreciated though. And his set pieces would be as well. My Fire has been horrible forever but he could bring in a spark we need to be mediocre.
yeah but if the team completely ignores you it doesn't matter at all. (Alvaro Medran at New England Revolution comes to mind).
nah don't worry. He's got a 30 million release clause. Not a chance in hell anyone will be paying that in MLS
Yeah, but considering his lack of form since his return + his current status as a sub + his strong desire to earn a contract in USD + River's financial losses caused by the corona virus (and lost competitions), it wouldn't be at all unrealistic for River to listen to offers worth below his release clause's value. I don't know how real the Chicago Fire interest is (it seemed to have ignited off of some fishy twitter posts, although the MLS side had expressed real interest in JuanFer in 2017 and 2018), but the word going around is that they'd supposedly be willing to offer 12 million euros. Maybe if they stretch that to +/-15 River will give in. Keep in mind that River was also keen on receiving the release clause sum for players who had much more important roles than Quintero within the team (like Exequiel Palacios, Kranevitter, and Pity Martinez), yet they all left for less due to the players' respective desires to migrate. Others like Lanzini, Pezzella, Saracchi, and Mammana were also sold for much less than what their contract termination clause was worth for a variety of reasons. If I'm not mistaken, the only players to have actually left in exchange for their contract release figure during D'Onofrio's 6+ year term were Alario (€18m) and Driussi (€15m). I'm not saying River is desperate to get their hands off the Colombian, but I think they view him as being on a decline. Combine that with an unstable club economy and the player's desire for a move, and you have a recipe for negotiating a viable deal. It would have been different, say, after the 2018 Madrid final, but he is no longer viewed as indispensable.
I am this close to buying Chicago Fire season tickets. Or at least heading out to a bunch of games once things hopefully get back to normal. God willing.
MLS has gone RIP until May, just saying. Chicago are at least no where near as boring as the Revolution
Be on the lookout on Netflix! ¡Quintero va a tener su propia serie!Juanfer reveló que está preparando una serie de Netflix sobre su vida, como la que tuvo Tevez hace un año. ¡Imperdible!https://t.co/IsOexnBPFs pic.twitter.com/G7dorQZjnC— Diario Olé (@DiarioOle) April 25, 2020
Any wine drinkers here.... Juanfer Quintero is releasing his own Malbec wine, dedicated to his goal in Madrid. pic.twitter.com/VVE1qNai3N— River Plate in English (@CARP_English) June 17, 2020
The more he get's injured and the more I watch a video like that it is going to make me want to start drinking his wine. So it is all one big circle of synergy,
Would be a shame to see such a talented, technical player be wasted in such a shit league, but it appears to be a serious possibility...
