U-20 camp - Lisbon - March 21-April 1, 2020

Given what's happening in Italy, I'll guess there's a good chance that Lewis won't be able to make it to this camp.

 

If I we're him and if he isnt getting quarantined and he doesn't have the coronavirus I'd be doing everything I can to escape italy and going to the u20 camp is a great excuse.

 

According to @charlie kennan there was a U19 camp in Europe for '02s planned for this month that now has been cancelled. At least some invitations had already been sent out. Gotta think the U20 camp is being cancelled.

 

I think we can let the two of you slide this time, making allowances for the current pandemic, but I'm afraid we must insist on having both lists of prospective camp attendees - not just the U20's but the U19's. This thread can't survive on a starvation diet.

Here is the confirmation from the Czech federation. The U-19 team (2002) was going to play a tournament in Spain, but given that Spain is one of the countries with the most cases of coronavirus, it was a complete risk to play in that country.

 

What is really concerning is that more than likely we will only have at most 2 camps (if we're lucky enough to have a camp in April or May) before u20 qualifying so all of the guys on the bubble because they have not had a chance to play in a camp will likely not get to go to qualifying.

 

I think you can expect qualifying to be pushed back at this point.

 

Is the U20 camp cancelled?

 

For the U19s so far we only know for sure that Jonathan Tomkinson was invited. Could create a likely group based on the top '02s who haven't been with the U20s yet.

 

If it's players in Europe then I wouldn't be surprised to see Peter Stroud, Damian Las, Chituru Odunze, Bryang Kayo, Kobe Hernandez, Ethan Wady, Noah Jones and Jack Imperato be invited.

 

Matthew Hoppe confirmed he would have been at this camp. His second U20 invite.

 

The father of Johan and Jonathan Gomez confirmed that Johan would have been at the U20 camp and Jonathan ('03) would have been at the U19 camp.

 

Do we know if there was a U-18 camp or was Jonathan going to play up an age group?

 

I think just playing up. He was going to be with the U19s in Spain. I haven't heard of a U18 camp yet.

 

Credit to @charlie kennan for finding that Quincy Butler would have been at the U20 camp. He was last with the US at the June '18 U18 camp.
