Portland seems to actively want their young players to fail. Not sure why you extend Ebobisse and then subsequently not play him at all short of sabotage.
NYCFC started with a u13/14 team in 2015 and built up year by year with that team being the oldest team in their academy as the years go on. Seeing as how the oldest players from that team just graduated and they signed 4 players from that starting core group that’s pretty solid compared to other clubs who have been around that long who really haven’t developed a single HG player yet. Also they won two back-to-back DA championships after only being a club for less than 5 years which is pretty impressive.
Newest addition for the 5-Stripes. Welcome to Atlanta, JJ Williams 🔥📃: https://t.co/dws519chlZ pic.twitter.com/zIfspc27BH— Atlanta United FC (@ATLUTD) March 9, 2020
NYCFC became #1 on the This Club Really Needs A USL Team List the second North Texas SC was announced. Sadly, the Chicago Fire are #1 on the This Club Really Needs A U19 Team List.
Brandon Vazquez has been selected by Nashville SC as their fourth pick. Was said they would explore a trade.#ATLUTD #MLSExpansionDraft— 𝘼𝙏𝙇 𝙐𝙏𝘿 𝙁𝙖𝙣 𝙏𝙑 🗣🎥 (@atlutdfantv) November 19, 2019
Yup exactly what I was thinking. Let’s see how well they integrate this year, but it wasn’t as if Haak and Torres were performing as well as Sands last season.
The Fire according to other Fire fans on here and who I've talked to will be adding a u19 team again next season. They now also have a USL team in Forward Madison FC to now send their players.
Yeah, I am increasingly optimistic about the Fire's new ownership. The logo was kind of a disaster, but just about everything else they've been doing is has been good. They still have a long way to go, though. I'm glad to see the Madison affiliation, but as we've seen over the years, it's just not the same as a USL team because they don't have technical control. It's harder to ensure that your players get playing time that way. Hopefully it serves as a decent stopgap for now.
If nothing else, at least the Bridgeview/Chicago-Madison commute is workable by American standards, unlike, say, McAllen-Houston.
The Chicago HG train continues rolling with signing Javier Casas: https://www.chicagofirefc.com/post/2020/03/10/chicago-fire-fc-signs-academy-product-javier-casas
Alex Monis and Allan Rodriguez should be signing soon as they were the other two academy players brought to first team preseason. If we don't see an announcement for them then we should expect them to both be Europe bound.
If they sign both they will be at 6 homegrown signings since the end of last season. That’s a pretty huge shift in the tides.
Just noticed that Monis has Wasserman in his bio, so he has an agent, so he’s given up is amateur status. They’ve announced the last two at 2pm EST, so maybe we will find out in 15 minutes.
You we're spot on. Alex Monis has signed a HG accounced on the Fire twitter page right at 2pm. I'm expecting to see Allan Rodriguez tomorrow.
I AM GOD Welcome, Alex Monis 💥#cffc #cf97https://t.co/icxmwIoWMg— Chicago Fire FC (@ChicagoFire) March 11, 2020
280 miles. That's all that separates the Dynamo academy from the FC Dallas youth setup. One system churns out pros. The other is one of the least productive in MLS. After years of neglect, Houston is finally trying to change that. My latest: https://t.co/fCsanVyCV0— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) March 11, 2020
George Campbell and Bello on the bench for Atlanta. In the NYCFC game Parks was taken off for the 3rd sub. I thought he played okay for most of the game, but less so as the game wore on. Sands did a bit better in my opinion.
No surprise MLS is suspending its season immediately until further notice due to coronavirus, a source with knowledge of the situation tells Sports Illustrated.— Subscribe to GrantWahl.com (@GrantWahl) March 12, 2020
What are the odds that at least one league stays open and just plays closed games? I’m going to want something to do while I’m not going outside.
Yea there’s always one league to watch with USYNT prospects. I need some soccer with some US players to watch at night when the European seasons end.
Huge problem for MLS IMO. The results have to be better than this. Thirty-seven players have signed Homegrown contracts since the end of the 2019 MLS season (counting Casas and Gutierrez today). Only three of those players have played any MLS minutes through the first two weeks of the regular season. pic.twitter.com/7zI6dDxAXV— J.R. Eskilson (@JREskilson) March 10, 2020
