Been saying for months now that I think he can be a nice player next to someone like Duvan and not the main target man. I hope CQ comes to this conclusion but so far in the brief time he has played him it as only been at #9 and may only view him as such. We shall see in March.
CQ is probably not going to change from a front 3 with a 9, and at this point although Borre has been really good it doesn't make sense to change the whole system they've been working on to fit him in there.
Actually the thing that make sense is that the coach implement a tactic to their players..............not otherwise...........this "rigid tactics" over the players just remember the Pinto failure.
It goes both ways, you can't have a manager setting players up in formations he's not good at implementing. But yes you should implement a formation that fits your players, I think the 4-3-3 fits our players really well and allows us to defend and press really well without sacrificing our ability to attack. Next best would be probably a 4-2-3-1 which our 4-3-3 basically morphs into when James plays, which if we're going to Taylor our formation to a player it should be to James and/or Quintero if they are both healthy. I think a 4-4-2 would be fine to have as an option but I'd also argue that in international football with a fairly new manager and without a ton of time to train with players the most important goal should be to create a system the players can know their roles really well as a blueprint especially one that is flexible depending on its parts to play in games where we're going to do a lot of defending and countering vs ones where we hope to dominate possession and mainly attack. I think we could tweak the 4-3-3 to fit in Borre, he's not going to be great in one of the wide role's since that doesn't play to his strong points but I could see in a game we look to dominate something like: Muriel-Duvan---Borre ------Uribe-----James -------------Barrios Tessillo-Mina-Davinson-Cuadrado James and Cuadrado can overload the right side and having Cuadrado there would give us the width that Borre can't and Borre would have more of a role roaming but would also have to drop deeper at times to help James and move wider to defend when out of possession. I think that's very workable and is sort of a 4-4-2 anyways in possession. It's basically a back 3 in possession with Tessillo sliding in with the CB's and it would fit Davinson fine because this is the exact system that Spurs play right now, with one attacking fullback and one defending fullback which fits Tessillo perfectly allowing Muriel/Diaz to be wide on the left side and Cuadrado to patrol the right wing and James and Borre overloading that side.
There was one game early on in the process when Duvan started with Morelos (Korea match). As an experiment I think Borre could play the position Morelos played that day. But you are probably right. Queiroz is probably not going to change things and just sink or swim with his bread and butter formation.
Hmm yes it looked like CQ started his first two games with a 4-4-2 system, and by the second game switched at half to the 4-3-3. We were often playing a 4-4-2 leading up to those games under Reyes so it would make sense at that time. I think Duvan/Muriel/Morelos/Borre/Roger could all easily play in a 4-4-2 and its an option, but we'll have to work on it and I'd say its unlikely since we haven't seen it in any of the recent friendlies which would be the time to work on it. I'd think at this point its more likely that its Morelos who forces a 4-4-2 with his involvement up to this point and clearly CQ likes and has used him a lot lately but that would undoubtedly help Borre break through since it fits him perfectly.
i see this man is still scoring goals. Good to see some consistency ¡¡¡GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!! pic.twitter.com/fyf6vycGR3— River Plate (@RiverPlate) February 2, 2020
Should have done a better job of scoring with the first touch... ...just kidding. He did a nice job there.

These are the kind of goals Borre used to miss for years. Glad things are turning around for him. Yet another case (Duvan, Cordoba, Jackson, even Falcao) where age and experience turns the striker into a true goalscorer.
That ball rolled past the line so slowly. He did a good job shielding off the defender to make sure it went in.
yeah, seems to be another colombian trait. Many of the true top colombians have properly evolved at a later age or in their early twenties instead of their late teens as do many other players elsewhere
top scorer of argetinian leaguue, despite the goal that was cancelled by a bad call of off side. 1236860945848242176 is not a valid tweet id
this guy had a bit of a rough start when he first joined the club, good to see he hung in there and succeeded
I personally do not like the sound of him wanting to quit. Not a good sign but he was young and in a weird situation in Europe. And he did stick with it and so far has persevered. Thanks Gallardo.
The personal trainer to Rafael Santos Borré has worried River Plate telling @DiarioOle that the Colombian 'thinks it is the ideal time to be in Europe.' River already concerned by the fact Atlético Madrid can get him back for as little as €7M pic.twitter.com/B7GhlK3NIX— GOLAZO (@golazoargentino) July 10, 2020
