What: DC United vs Miami FC Where: Audi Field When: Saturday, March 3, 330 PM (kickoff closer to 350 PM) Why: Because it's a chance to see if the team look less inspired than last week How to watch: In person at Audi Field; Univision (sometimes these games stream on Twitter) Another Saturday, another DC United home game. Miami looked somewhat feisty against LAFC, losing only because of a Carlos Vela wundergol. Meanwhile, DC United did DC United things in blowing a 1-0 lead to lose to Colorado, 2-1. Ulises Segura is day to day with a minor injury, so will Yamil Asad or Ema Boateng to start in his place? Also, will Olsen put Gressel in the front 3 and drop Flores into the middle? Or does he go back to the standby 4-2-3-1 after last week's 4-3-3 experiment? Vamos!
I predict it won't be as cold as last Saturday, but still unpleasant. I also predict that I will be underwhelmed by another DCU performance. Miami will bunker and I don't see an Olsen coached team able to break that down. Probably ends 0-0.
Goff has Boateng in the starting lineup replacing Segura. When Asad is subbed in (as he surely will be) please don't take out Flores. The two of them need to learn to work together.
Miami played well against a much better LAFC, had 15 shots on goal and a number of good chances. I think this is a game that will surprise us.
The only thing that would surprise me is if DC puts 3 or more on the board, any other result, including a 4-0 Miami win is more likely.
We will tire in the end as usual. Seems like we don't do much to build stamina during pre-season. I didn't watch Miami so I don't know how we'll match up.
Miami plays a very boring but smart style for a team that is brand new. Stick to fundamentals, get the ball wide and put it in for a header or other play. The thing is they have two players who are actually decent players that make this work, Pizarro and Pellegrini in midfield.
I think the Beckham team should be called the Benders. The Miami Benders has a nice ring to it. Hope today doesn't go down in history as their first win.
On a more serious note, Twellman claims that Miami is expecting to make two big signings this Spring/Summer which will vault them into contention in the East right away.
I believe it, no reason they can’t make the playoffs as is, two more quality players and it’s not a hard get considering the quality of the East
That goal had everything.... lazy, poor and dangerous passback by Canouse, pretty slow on defense, and apparently Mora was standing on Miami's goal line given how far behind the play he was.
The defense is pretty much all the same players as the end of last season. I don't get why they've been so damn bad so far this season.
I've no clue but the fact that the midfield and offense can't hold the ball for even one minute might have something to do with it.
The defense is pretty much all the same players as the end of last season. I don't get why they've been so damn bad so far this season. That doesn't help, but its not like we won the possession battle against anybody the second half of last season.
The game plan for Miami was the same last week and this week. Meanwhile DCs strategy involves getting the ball to our hold up guy Kamara who is now hurt.
Our only professional forward is out, barely 100 minutes into the season. Great planning guys. Who could have imagined he wouldnt last 90 minutes every game?!
