I did some looking. There are a total of 6 away matches on STO - I'll be at one of those. Of the remaining 5, only tomorrow is a late game (meaning the couch is the most desired viewing location). I can go to bars/watch parties for the rest. I'll live missing one away match. It's not like I can't follow along on twitter, and majorleaguesoccersoccer dot com, and the game thread here. But who am I kidding, I'll be asleep by 10:30. I hate to say this, and judge me if you will, but Columbus Crew SC is not enough to get me to leave my TV provider.
How many providers have STO? what are the cheapest options etc... I need to watch all the games because i might not be able to go to any matches because i can’t afford tickets
I live in Columbus, it is. It’s under “Sports Time Ohio” in the “S” section, not “Fox Ohio” or “Fox STO” in the “F” section.
I posted in the MLS N&A week 1 gameday thread that Jordan is popular with Crew fans and several Rapids fans said they miss her already.
LIVE STREAMING ON FOX SPORTS GO All Crew programming televised on SportsTime Ohio and FOX Sports Ohio will stream live on FOX Sports GO. FOX Sports GO is currently available on mobile and tablet devices, including iOS and Android as well as foxsportsgo.com. FOX Sports GO is also available on connected devices including, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Roku Players and Roku TV, and Xbox One. Fans can download the app for free from the iTunes App Store, Google Play, Amazon App Store, Roku App Store, XBOX One App Store and Windows App Store. is there a way to just pay for this and not any other tv provider ?
I think you have to have a provider that carries it in your location. I’m going to try and do some research on Hulu. I know KyleCrew said it’s on the platform but when I put in my zip code into the website, it didn’t have it listed.
I just said "screw it" and went back to Spectrum. I am hoping that, by the time my locked in price expires and they try to rake me over the coals with a rate increase, some of these streaming services will sort out their issues with Sinclair and we'll have a reasonably priced option that has all the necessary channels. That means FSO and STO for the Crew, FS1 and FS2 for the Bundesliga, and NBCSports for the Premier League.
It may depend on levels of personal mojo and who answers the phone, but I call in once or twice per year and get various discounts and upgrades. The last time I called in, my head spun with all the stuff I got. Put a reminder in your phone to call back a few days before they expire. As they say, YMMV.
I was trying to figure out this same thing for myself up here in Toledo when researching Hulus channel availability. After putting in my zipcode, Fox Sports Ohio showed up but not Sportstime Ohio. Sure enough STO is on here, even though it doesnt say so on the website.
Good for those that already pony up for ESPN+, bad for those of us who liked to pay for one streaming or cable service. I figured this would happen eventually. As more people started cutting the cord to cable service, all the rights holders to the various shows and sports are creating their own streaming services and putting stuff behind a paywall. With everyone pulling stuff off Netflix and Hulu to start their own streaming services like AppleTV+, Disney+ and HBOMax, it's getting to the point where, to get what you used to get with a cable subscription, you'll have to pay just as much, if not more for all the various streaming subscriptions. Eventually, I think just to watch soccer that used to be available on cable or DirectTV, we'll have to pay for ESPN+, NBCSports Gold, CBS All Access (for Champions League), whatever paywall Fox puts up for the World Cup, and whatever streaming service Sinclair starts when they decide to cut off the other streaming services altogether. Of course, we'll have access to more games than we had before, but man are we going to pay for it.
I'm not sure. What I did was figure out what it would cost to get a Hulu TV subscription and add that on to my internet service, which I already get through Spectrum. I then called them to see if they could beat the internet + Hulu TV price and they did. I didn't get a DVR box because I figure most of the stuff we DVR is made available on demand or through apps we get access to with the Spectrum sub. The price they gave me is locked in for 1 year, but it's no contract. So I'll go service shopping again when the year is up and they jack up the price. If you don't need a DVR, they can offer you an Apple TV device instead, but they do charge you for it (but you do own it after so many payments). But the Spectrum app is available on a plethora of streaming devices, so you can save the equipment fee by doing streaming only. The price is going to depend on what channels are in your "must have" list.
I'm not sure if it will work this year... but last year I used a combination of ESPN+ using Firefox as my browser with the ZenMate Free VPN extension. It's the only thing I used ZenMate for as I would enable it before the game and disable it immediately after the game. It worked for me all year. Firefox now also offers a service called Firefox Private Network as well. It's worth a try.
