01-Jakel talks about his club and himself.

RB Leipzig's U19 captain Jäkel: "If I could make the breakthrough, it would be a big deal"

Frederik Jäkel is currently playing very successful football with the RB U19. But his goal is to do this in the first division with the professionals.

Frederik Jäkel is captain of the U19 from RB Leipzig and also a real top performer in the junior national team. Last weekend, the 18-year-old was in the Bundesliga second division's professional squad for the first time.

    License player contract until 2022
The upswing also has to do with Captain Frederik Jäkel. The 18-year-old central defender, who comes from Dommitzsch near Torgau, is one of the pillars of the RBL juniors. Even if he only played twice in the second half due to injury. "Freddy is very strong in duels and, above all, in the header, has a good understanding of the game and has a great mentality," says coach Alexander Blessin. “He sucks up all the information and tips and tries to implement them as quickly and as well as possible. Freddy has continuously developed over the past three years and everything has worked hard. ”

The hard work was rewarded last year with a license player contract until 2022. The German U19 international (7 international matches) has trained with the first eleven several times and also taken all of the summer preparation including friendly matches with them. Last weekend, he was part of the professional squad for the first time in a 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen. The good news brought him assistant coach Robert Klauss three days before. "Of course that was a special moment for me," says Jäkel. "And then just sniffing what the events of a Bundesliga matchday are like and sitting in the cabin with the professional team to warm up on Sunday was a great feeling."

Rafael Varane from Real Madrid and Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk cite sporting role models. In Leipzig he wants to learn a lot from Ibrahima Konaté and Dayot Upamecano, who are barely older than himself. In the speed of action, he sees the greatest potential for improvements in order to make a breakthrough in the professional field. There are also reserves in the player opening. "But Freddy has already taken significant development steps there," praises his trainer. Jäkel (one goal of the season) also wants to increase the number of balls at rest. "With standards, I actually have to be even more dangerous in terms of my height and physical requirements," says the 1.93-meter man self-critically.

The teenager has been using the short haircut for RB Leipzig since the U13. In the meantime he moved into his first own apartment in the trade fair city. There is no problem with tidiness and food preparation, he explains with a grin. "Pasta with tomato sauce always works." Out of the glass? No, of course homemade! His mother had taught him the basics of kitchen basics.

The defender has not only developed in the culinary field in recent years, but also in terms of character and sport. Coach Blessin calls him diligent, polite and very reflective. “Freddy is a leader. Many of his teammates are based on him. ”Outside the field, Jäkel is more of a calm guy who likes to pick up a book. Most recently, it was a biography of the late basketball star Kobe Bryant.

Breakthrough would be a big deal
"But there is a clear announcement on the pitch when things are not going so that the players wake up," says the U19 captain. Some of them - like his buddy and DFB teammate Malik Talabidi - could "do a little harder". He is more careful with others. Blessin wishes his protégé to take on more responsibility on the court. "He has to go even further and get his teammates involved," says the 46-year-old. It would also be strange if there were no set screws for an 18-year-old to tweak.

The first small steps to the professionals were made by the family - and that should not be the end of the road. "Of course it's my dream to play with the first team in the Red Bull Arena," says Jäkel. "I come from the region. If I could make the breakthrough, it would be a big deal for me. ”Professional football - whether in Leipzig or at another club - seems within reach. In summer, however, the European Championship with the U19 national team in Northern Ireland will take place if the qualification succeeds. Frederik Jäkel is an important pillar not only for RB Leipzig's youngsters, but also for DFB coach Guido Streichsbier.

    -More from Flick on Arp.
previous post: "Fiete is doing very well with the U23s. He has shown there in recent games that he can help. I'm happy for him. He's dealing with the situation very professionally. He still has a long way to go to the first team, but we will support him."

    More detailed.
“I spoke to Fiete for a long time. He is with the U23, it does well there. His way is currently there! There he can collect game practice, has given a template, scored a goal. I'm happy for him, because he's a fine boy! "

“Our focus is that Fiete will play with us at some point. But you also have to say that there is still a long way to go! We support him wherever possible. "

of course that was always expected, young player missing half a year is a big deal and he needs as much game practice as possible. Zirkzee for one has played not far from 1000 minutes for II while Arp post return is still like 124 mins played that's like 1 game and 1/3 worth of minutes that's obviously not enough. Well on the +, Flick seems to like Arp and seems convinced that Arp will at some point make it at Bayern. Kovac was also seemed convinced that Arp was going to make it in long run. Would guess his best shot for Bayern debut is likely end of season in 1BL if Bayern wins league and you got some irrelevant games. 10 games to go and 3 pts lead.

-Kohfeldt said that 02-Woltemade is doing really well in training and that he wants to protect him aka not use him too much this young, slowly build him up. But said that he could be used vs Hertha aka sub.

now that's a name that has been MIA at pro levels for 2 years now.

HSV defense talent after Ewerton injury: new chance for Ambrosius?
Stephan Ambrosius was happy to complete the training

The HSV is on the staff in defense. After the serious injury to Ewerton and Gideon Jung's red card, head coach Dieter Hecking has to rebuild before the home game against SSV Jahn Regensburg on Saturday (1 p.m., MOPO.de live ticker). The chance for Stephan Ambrosius?

The central defender, who was provided with a professional contract by Christian Titz in 2018, is currently training regularly with the first team. And could now become a serious option for the squad!

HSV defender Ambrose outside after cruciate ligament rupture
Last year, the 21-year-old had disappeared a bit from the scene. Also because he contracted a cruciate ligament in December 2018. In summer Dieter Hecking sent Wilhelmsburger back to the second team, where Ambrosius (17 regional league games this season) is set. After Adrian Fein's injury, the coach brought the defender back to the professionals in mid-February - now his hour could beat.

It is quite possible that the home grown (in the club since 2012) against Jahn will be in the professional squad for the first time this season. With Timo Letschert and Rick van Drongelen, HSV are currently only able to use two central defenders. Defense concerns at HSV become a new opportunity for Ambrosius.

and the answer yup, making squad for the weekend alongside Fein and Beyer.

have to say I do think the topic of "top talents" seem to be 100% subjective one unlike "Elite talents". Seeing lots of players over past year who changed club go from no one ever mentioning them at their old clubs to them being labelled top talent at their new one. Unlike Elite players who are rated anywhere they go.

    like that old expression.
"One man's garbage is another man's treasure."

lol, I don't mean the players are garbage at their old clubs but irrelevant is better word. More reason why it's hard to judge any player at youth levels.

First u have to get the idea that there will only be less and less late bloomers in football world

nowadays, pro teams are expecting players to be “ready” at 19 , almost latest

elite talents are those who can show that even earlier at 17 or even earlier. Like Sancho, Mbappe, Havertz, De Ligt and co

for a country like Germany, elite talents are so rare nowadays

training is one part but let’s take Leverkusen as example. they have also produced talents like Havertz, but why there isn’t any good talent in Leverkusen after Havertz (2000-2001 no one really that great) they are under the same NLZ.

Elite talents mostly aren’t trained to be that great. It’s more natural talent.

-03 Gedikli made his U19 debut as 86th min sub
-03 Wirtz joins Bayer U19 in Winter, club trashes Schalke 4-0, Munster 4-0, draw Dortmund 3-3 and trash Fortuna 5-0 today. Man Fortuna, Schalke and Dortmund are rival clubs too.

Wirtz up an age group at 2 goals and 3 assist in 4 games. No idea if he assisted today or not.....

while Wolf (8th) and Fesenmeyer (7th) keep scoring, good for them and Anapak too, there is no Bayer II. The more they perform the more they'll attract other clubs.
-been curious for long time to what Union does in Summer to Maciejewski and Aksakal? There is no II team, do they integrate or loan or let them go? They already gave pro contract to 01-Dehl who's been injured for months and Maciejewski was in the 1st team Winter camp along with Asllani. If you want to talk 01 relevance than Oppermann (GK also pro contract), Dehl, Aksakal and Maciejewski are it.
-Chemnitzer's interesting duo from their U17 time, Keller and Roscher. Wonder if they get chances in 1st team. Roscher seems to be 1.93m tall.

    RL
    Ihorst (6th), Latteier (5th), Schleimer (10th), Heusser (1st), Petermann X2 (3rd),

-99 GL Itter finally makes his Freiburg debut as he kept having injury issues or unused bench (has 11 unused bench appearances)!!! That was his 8th 1BL game.

Freiburg keeps having Keitel, Tempelmann, N.Schlotterbeck and GL Itter in squad. N.Schlotterbeck played vs his older bro K.Schlotterbeck as Freiburg won 3-1, he came on the 77th min. Let's hope Streich integrates all 4.

also now can open door for GL Itter to get Germany U21 call up too.

-01 CB Thiaw makes his pro and 1BL debut today as Schalke drew Hoff 1-1.

how long before he gets poached by Finland and whatever 3rd country he's likely eligible for? Has never been called up by dfb at any level.

Schubert and Becker both continue to start. While Geiger made his return from injury as a 5 min sub and Beier/Mercan unused.

not going to list every player.

Bayern coach Flick: "He's been through a lot of negative things"
Arps detour with patience and support

Young, talented, smart. Fiete Arp has a lot to offer. But sporting things are not going as expected at Bayern. Those responsible want to support him with patience and without pressure. The time in the second team is also part of the development process.

He has to be patient: Fiete Arp
Robert Lewandowski is still out. A crack in the shin edge on the left knee joint forces him to pause for at least three weeks. FC Bayern does not have a real back-up striker, the Munich makers consciously took this risk. In the previous two games without the Pole, coach Hansi Flick relied once on Joshua Zirkzee and once on Thomas Müller in the top. Serge Gnabry is also a potential candidate for this top position.

However, a name rarely comes up when it comes to the representatives of the top goalscorers in the Bundesliga: Fiete Arp. The only 20-year-old, who had switched from the Elbe to the Isar in the summer for three million euros, had to fight injuries in the Hin series: first he was struck with flu, then a scaphoid fracture and an arm injury followed. Since then, the youngster - with a five-year contract until 2024 - has had little to hear or see, and Arp has seldom appeared in the professional squad. Most recently, in the 1-0 cup success at Schalke, he was once again one of the nominees. It was not enough for an assignment. "If he can collect game practice," says coach Flick, "then first in U 23. There is his way now."

"Arp went through a lot of negative things when he was young."
    TRAINER HANSI FLICK
Even with FCB's second team, in the 3rd division, there wasn't always room for Arp. Most recently, however, the ex-Hamburger was allowed to start from the start, scoring the 1-0 winner in the derby against Unterhaching. With this goal and another assist three weeks ago, "he showed that he can definitely help," said Flick, who recently had intensive discussions with Arp about his situation: "I am pleased for him because he is a very fine boy is who deals with the matter professionally. "

The chief coach appreciates the attacker's attitude, behavior, character. Knowing well that Arp "went through a lot when he was young", as Flick emphasizes: "Also a lot of negative things." Like in Hamburg, when the hope and the burden of an entire city were grabbed on his shoulders in the relegation battle. In spring 2018, the storm talent said: "To save HSV alone is utopian." The person who had just turned of age had of course felt the pressure - at 18, in a metropolis of two million, at the Bundesliga dino. An enormous burden for a teenager.

"We support him with everything that is available. That is our job."
    TRAINER HANSI FLICK
A new chapter began at Bayern. But of course, the Mia-san-mia club has a certain expectation. In any case, trainer Flick and Co. give him time, taking a few kilos that have accumulated out of his backpack. "We got him with the focus that he could play in the team here at some point," says Flick: "It's still a long way. We support him with everything that is available. That is our job."
    https://www.kicker.de/771642/artikel/arps_umweg_mit_geduld_und_unterstuetzung

it's more than that, after HSV got relegated from 1BL and went to 2BL last season. Arp seems to have gotten depressed which he admitted in an interview, all the pressure from fans and the club and his boyhood club got relegated. And all that pressure on a 17-18 year old.Even went on vacation during last season to Canada to get away from it, lol. Then the coach Titz got fired and he didn't get along with Wolf who also ended up axed too.

anyway one looks at it, he needed a change of scenery.

but even then I always see people who ignore a player's potential and say things like Arp wasn't great last season in 2BL, ignore the psychological issues or ignore that he played a lot of W when he's more effective in middle. Feels to me like there is so much hype around Arp that people trash him so easily and quickly too. So he's STILL going through - things even now.

this whole season, I kept seeing Bayern fans and German media criticize him..........when he's been injured all season, LMAO. He doesn't need to play to have pressure on him, he has it by default.

me, every time I read Arp criticism while he was injured or being slowly integrated back into II post Winter break to get match practice. "He sucks, can't even start in II,"

Speaking of Arp he scored the winner 1-0 in a 2-0 win vs SG.
    https://streamable.com/nx7g9

    Arp post Winter break,
starts last 2 consecutive games and scores winner in both games!!!! So he scored and winners in every start since his return from injury.

2 goals and 1 assist in 6 games post Winter and averages a goal/assist every 63 mins.

Arp was playing more withdrawn forward. That's always the issue when Wriedt is also there. Everytime Wriedt is present, Zirkzee or Arp are more withdrawn and the one who goes at the defense is Wriedt. Only + for such a thing is that it forces the players to be more active in midfield. My god Wriedt wasted like 3 chances to score and Jeong also messed up a bunch of times. Arp scored on his only chance too, even Jeong was more advanced than Arp most of the times.

OBM was unused, will likely play tomorrow in the big Stuttgart U19 game, top of the table clash. Dajaku was absent, with 1st team or also with U19???

Fruchtl/Mai/Kohn/Stiller kept another clean sheet and all did well. Nothing is getting by Mai and Fruchtl had great save to keep it 0-0.

Bayern II post Winter break........since Yilmaz at RB, Stiller at DM........
7 games, 6 wins and 1 loss (only lost due to red card 1-0), 4 clean sheets and conceded only 4 goals too.

means Bayern II are now only 6 pts off of 1st place. Imagine Bayern II wins 3rd Liga. Sure they can't win promotion but they can still win the title.:p

also how does Bayern expect to keep players when a lot of them will likely want to play higher level in Summer? Will need U19 upping+some transfers to make up for the ones who leave permanently or on loan. I still think Tillman and Mbi could end up playing II next season even if still U19 eligible.

01-Borges played his 1st game for Milan U19 and in XI too in 5-0 win today since his return from injury, seems to have played full game.

Italy does not seem like a good place for any players at this moment in time due to the Coronavirus and delays and threatening of stopping season.

we got Chabot, Czyborra, Toure, Borges, Covic in terms of young players from Serie A, B, C and U19.

    -97 Becker, career RL player.

at Schalke from 2007-2013 then goes to RW Essen from 2013-2019. Returns to Schalke in 2019-present.

now this season, 5 pro games, 4 1BL+1 Cup, and started last 2 consecutive games for Schalke.

RW Essen Fans NOW: He wasn't that great, Heber (nevermind that he's 3 years older) is better and he couldn't beat the competition, so left.

Schalke Fans NOW: Becker has done really well in all of his game time, no real mistakes bar one time vs Paderborn in his 1st ever XI debut, which is excusable since nervousness kicks in.

"One man's garbage is another man's treasure."

    LOL......

-speaking of Thiaw, interesting that Koln's Jakobs congratulated him on instagram and put the Senegal flag while doing so. So Thiaw seems like he could be German-Finnish-Senegalese. Seems likely his parentage is the latter 2 while being born and raised in Germany.

-Maina post Winter, 1 goal and 6 assists in 7 games for H96. So will he go to 1BL in Summer? His exit could also open Stehle/Gudra door.

2020 IN TOP SHAPE: MAINA EXPANDS HIS SUPER STATISTICS
Linton Maina has been in a very strong form for weeks. Also in the game at 1. FC Nürnberg on Friday evening, the 20-year-old, who scored the 2-0 and initiated the 3-0, was one of the match winners. Reason enough to take a look at Linton's statistics in 2020, which are quite brilliant.

Our team stabilized in 2020 and there has been a clear upward trend in the past few weeks in particular. Just yesterday in Nuremberg, the closed and strong team performance was the key to success. Nevertheless, one man has stood out repeatedly in recent weeks: Linton Maina. Linton has had seven goal appearances in the last seven games and his speed makes it difficult to tame the opposing line of defense. The 20-year-old was also one of the match winners yesterday. In the 27th minute, Linton scored 2-0. After a strong pass from ex-Nuremberg Cedric Teuchert, our winger FCN goalkeeper Christian Mathenia didn't stand a chance and wet ice cold from an acute angle. With six goals in 2020, Linton's first goal he scored in the current calendar year now followed. "It was not only a successful day for me, but for the whole team. We played a great game for over 90 minutes," said the scorer after the game.

"So we have to go on"
Even in the 90th minute, Linton was still not tired and skillfully set his pace once again: He sprinted over the right wing towards the penalty area, saw Edgar Prib, who initially failed at Mathenia - but Hendrik Weydandt was just where a striker has to stand and made the rebound. So it was clear: We will get the three away points and close the short week after the victories over Holstein Kiel on Monday and the "Club" on Friday evening with six points. The reward: The next hard training session is only due on Tuesday. "Now we can enjoy the days off, we deserve that too. I'm just happy for the team, for everyone and for our fans - that's how we have to continue," Linton summarized his thoughts after the final whistle. And that was really granted to our team.

-looks like 98-Zehir and 00-Senger look to be injured for 6 weeks. Feel bad for Senger seems to have been getting close to pro debut. Maybe he'll make his debut end of season when club is safe.

-01 CB Bella-Kotchap attracting interest from
Chelsea in particular are said to be looking for Bella-Kotchap and have already felt for a change in the summer. Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers from the Premier League as well as the Spanish heavyweights FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are also to closely follow the development of Bella-Kotchap.
    https://www.liga-zwei.de/vfl-bochum-armel-bella-kotchap-im-ausland-begehrt/

naw should stay in Germany and play entire 2020-2021 season with Bochum in XI to gain experience on top of his already 14 pro games which includes 800 min this season. Wouldn't be surprised if it's the dfb cup game vs Bayern where he closed down Lewa and others as to why so many clubs took notice of him.

    -More on Arp.
After an injury-plagued first six months, the 20-year-old is currently blooming
Arp: "If the knot bursts ..."

Fiete Arp is currently in top condition. After the 20-year-old had already scored 1-0 against Unterhaching the previous week, the striker also scored the important goal against Großaspach. Afterwards, he emphasized how important the third division missions are for him.

Arp was there again. And again the 20-year-old marked the opening goal with a placed shot in the corner. He paved the way to success against Unterhaching like last week. After a difficult first six months with many injuries, the young forward seems to be arriving in the Bavarian capital more and more. "As is so often the case: If the knot bursts, the goals will work better and more often," said Arp after the game at "Magenta Sport" on the microphone.

"It is important that we quickly decided the game with the 2-0"
Nevertheless, Arp also knows that such series have their finiteness: "Of course I hope it will go on like this. It is probably also clear that I am not going to score every week." The 20-year-old repeatedly emphasized that his goal was naturally nice for him personally, but it was much more important that the team won. "In contrast to last week, we luckily made it 2-0 and made the game no longer exciting," he said. The striker had praise for the defense in particular: "Insane what they do every week."

"Sure I can't reach for the stars straight away from the pros"
Bayern coach Hansi Flick had spoken to Arp for a long time during the winter break. The coach repeatedly emphasized that Arp had to collect game practice and get back into his rhythm. Finally, Flick also made it clear where this should happen: "If he can collect game practice, then first in U 23. That is his way now."

Arp said: "It is clear that after this first six months I can not reach for the stars directly from the professionals. But I can not mention it often enough: that we have the opportunity with the second team every week Gaining a high level in 3rd league practice is a great privilege. "

"He still has a long way to go" - Flick still thinks of Arp
Nevertheless, Flick gave the 20-year-old hope: "We got him with the focus that he could play here in the team at some point. It's still a long way to go. We support him with everything that is available. This is ours Task."

    U17
    X4: Gedikli
X1: Vazquez, Muteba, Candido, Koppener, Sothen, Bozickovic, Janz, Alipek,
Bucan, Sanogo (04), Homik, Kaus, Bank, Schultealbert, Hinterding, Justo,
    Tchadjei, E.Ibrahimi, Michaelis

    -Gedikli today
jumps to U17 West top scorer with 17 goals in 14 games. He missed 6 games this season too.

also his 4 goals today takes makes him Bayer U17 all time top scorer at 42 goals in 40 games. Between him and Wirtz would be surprising if there are no 1st team uppings in future at Bayer.

    U19
X2: Moukoko, Kinitz, M.Muller, Erten, Beifus, Bolufe
X1: Bakir, OBM, Rhein (03), Halbich, Hollerbach, Kehrer (one off double), Gindorf, Gueli, Thiaw, Mika, Voloder, Sponsel, Jonas Jansen, Schwirten, Zoch,
Cevis, M.Grimm, Zorn, Bakirsu, Bonianga, Torlak, Hafner, Ender, Portella, Sommer, Messeguem, Beck, Oppie, Dursun (one off double), Beleme

-Moukoko brakes more records as he now has scored the most goals ever in a singled U19 season at 34. With 6 games to go, should hit 40+.
-Bayern beat Stuttgart 3-1, although they were missing Suver, Meyer, Grimm, Kramny and Egloff. Grimm, Meyer and Kramny is long term injury, feel bad for Grimm since this is his last U19 season and he's missing crucial dev time.

While Rhein scored direct FK goal while OBM with a goal and assist which is why U19 keeps using him, annoying since he should be playing higher level than U19. Than you got Halbich a very efficient player,

    02-Halbich this season,
3 goals and 4 assists in 10 games, playing measly 326 min and only 2 XIs, averaging goal or assist every 46.5 min, lol. In his 2 XI he has 2 goals and 1 assists too the rest is all sub. Should play more next season.

    RL
    Barkok (4th), Steinkotter (9th), Willms X2 (4th)

some other mention, mostly about non regulars.
-99 Franzke who moved to Pauli II in Winter already made the 1st team bench today. 99-Viet also made the bench for 1st time.
-Burnic and Dynamo are doing well post Winter and are still alive in 2BL
-Bauer, Tillman and Raum keep playing for Furth while 97-McLemore made his pro debut as 7 min sub. Leweling is unfit and seems like Kehr too. Another 1st time bencher was 00-Ahrend who was unused along with Lungwitz and Jaeckel. That's 4 00s who are close to 1st team in Bauer, Lungwitz, Kehr and Ahrend. Although only Bauer has played so far and important to mention the other 3 were taken from other clubs, Lungwitz (Bayern), Kehr (Dortmund) and Ahrend (Schalke) and all 3 joined in Summer 2019,
-seems like Sander was out for awhile as he returned to 1st team squad for 1st time since Nov. While Fleckstein keeps being unused.

01-Dajaku was unable to add to his 2 Bayern caps in a 2-0 win over Augsburg. Bayern now 5 pts off of 2nd place. Flick is more likely to give out more chances once title race is over.

next weekend, Dutch CF Weghorst is suspended for card accumulation. That Frenchie Karamako injured himself for unknown period last week and all that's left is Ginczek who had some knee issues in recent times. Ginczek will likely start, Herrmann likely needed for II but is this a chance for 01-Jastremski to make 1st team squad?

-concerning Bayer, we are seeing more 03s playing in U19. Wirtz is XI, Gedikli made his debut as late sub yesterday and also CB Schwieren has moved to the U19 team in Winter. Schwieren has started 2 games both clean sheets and 2 unused bench.

Second division club VfL Bochum faces the departure of 18-year-old central defender Armel Bella-Kotchap. Several top European teams are said to have the German U18 international in their sights. Sports director Sebastian Schindzielorz is meanwhile calm - he can count on millions.

Armel Bella-Kotchap caused a national sensation with his courageous appearance in the DFB Cup second round game of his VfL Bochum against FC Bayern Munich. Until his red card in the 88th minute of a handball, the Paris-born central defender showed no nervousness and delivered a good game despite being only 17 years old at the time. He was also noticed across national borders and now there seem to be several financially strong prospects for Bella-Kotchap.

so yeah it seems to have been the Bayern dfb cup that attracted the attention of clubs around Europe. And according to Sebastian Schindzielorz they have long term contract with him 2024 so it's in their hands and seems to want millions. Seems like clubs trying to buy him for like $7ishM. At 1.90m tall and no physicality issue making the pros early is easier for him and he's not slow either.

Bochum fans are categorizing him as next Goretzka and Klostermann who are both Bochum products aka won't last. Might as well play him as much as possible and drive his price up. Likely to be in XI next season once relegation battle is over and he's still U19 eligible this season.

always fascinating the amount of players produced by Bochum, 1860 Munich, Cottbus, etc. Smaller clubs but have history of dev.

L.Nmecha has only played 23 min in last 4 games and that's 1 sub appearance+3 unused bench. So left Wolfsburg (undeserved loan anyways) to get more game time but is spending a lot of bench time there. Will be curious to where he ends up in Summer? So far not a great season for him. If he continues like this, likely headed to more Championship next season, same club or will he get loaned to a 3rd one, lol. He seems stuck in the British neverending loans for young players. He's obviously won't make it at Citeh.

Nmecha seems like a player who's physicality gives him the edge in youth football but hasn't really been able to click vs adults or find any efficiency. Will he ever? Time will tell.

Update on Bozdogan and Thiaw......the Schalke 01 1st team prospects.
    -On Bozdogan
Schalke's U-19 captain Can Bozdogan is still far from participating in the team training.

    -On Thiaw
1-Once again a great success for the miners," commented Norbert Elgert. "Malick Thiaw managed the balancing act between professionals and us this weekend."

2-Once again as I keep mentioning the Matip comparison.
Schalke: Bundesliga premiere as a teenager
The next one, please: Thiaw also makes his debut

No other professional club in Germany has made as many teenagers their Bundesliga debut as FC Schalke 04, there are now more than 100. The next one came on Saturday: In addition to professionals like Julian Draxler, Mesut Özil, Leroy Sané and Olaf Thon counts now Malick Thiaw on this illustrious circle.

    Malick Thiaw
In his overall appearance, he is reminiscent of Joel Matip - on Saturday Malick Thiaw came a little closer to the wish to someday slip into the footsteps of the former Schalke central defender. They now have one thing in common forever: Both teenagers Matip and Thiaw made their Bundesliga debut for Schalke 04 - Matip in autumn 2009 against Bayern, Thiaw on Saturday against TSG Hoffenheim.

In total, this list now includes more than 100 names - Münir Levent Mercan was the one responsible for the three-digit brand at the start of the season. Schalke 04 is by far the club where most teenagers celebrated their Bundesliga premiere. These included the later world champions Julian Draxler, Mesut Özil, Benedikt Höwedes and Olaf Thon, but also many other well-known professionals such as Leroy Sané, Ivan Rakitic, Sead Kolasinac or Stan Libuda.

Born in Düsseldorf 18 years ago, Thiaw was in the cup quarter-final against Bayern for the first time in the professional squad, four days later he played his first Bundesliga minutes against TSG Hoffenheim after replacing him in the 90th minute for Jonjoe Kenny.

Previously, the central defender, who scored his eighth goal of the season in the 1-1 draw against Preußen Münster on match day 20 of the U-19 Bundesliga West the day after the professional debut as A youth captain, had already played in some of the professionals' friendly matches. In addition, Thiaw was at the winter training camp in Spain in January.

WC18 Kroos flashback, that was Rhein's 4th goal and 10th goal participation, up an age group, playing vs Stuttgart U19.
    https://streamable.com/lvdag

OBM's assist to Halbich's goal. OBM wasting time in U19, not far from being Sud/Sudwest top scorer, just 1 behind, even after skipping 9 games, lol. Productive in every game bar 2 which includes one he only lasted 20 min due to concussion. So essentially only 1 game. He's like Gedikli and Matanovic would easily leave the entire league region they play in the dust had they played the full season. Gedikli is top scorer after today even missing 6 games. Said it past, it took forever for someone to overtake Gedikli when he was out and now back on top. While Matanovic ditched U17 to play U19.

-Flick doing extra units of training with Fruchtl, Mai, Dajaku and Arp. Looks like OBM will likely be more focused on U19-II since U19 are contenders for Championship run. I still hope he makes his 1st debut debut like last match of the 1BL season at the MIN.

-Flick seems to have turned down Arp going on loan for this Summer.

And further: "We got him with the focus that he could also play in the team at some point here. But until then, you have to say that there is still a long way to go. But we support him."

Flick replied to the question whether there would be a model from next summer in which the ex-hamburger who had been injured this season (came last summer for three million euros) could collect more game practice not internally but externally: "No. "

Thus, a possible loan, which was still speculated in January, does not appear to be an option for the 20-year-old Arp.

    -01 Katterbach update.
"Noah Katterbach is back in training. He trained perfectly with the team today," the trainer gives an insight into the training appearance of the left-back. And further: "I see great progress there. It could well be an alternative," Gisdol says at least one managerial position for the home grown company.

-More Koln updates on Schneider, Voloder, Cestic, Oubella, and Lemperle. Was wondering where Lemperle was this weekend, now the answer.

Sava Cestic and Robert Voloder are among the greatest defensive talents in the youth of 1. FC Köln. The center-back duo will be training completely with the professionals this week, as the billy goats will have to do without Sebastiaan Bornauw in addition to Rafael Czichos. One of the two youngsters will therefore be in the derby squad against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Cologne - According to GBK information, not only Robert Voloder will train completely with the FC professionals this week, but also Sava Cestic. After head coach Markus Gisdol announced last week that Voloder would replace the long-term injured Czichos as a left foot, Cestic will now be hoisted at least as long as Bornauw is missing injured. The Belgian is suffering from muscular problems.

Voloder and Cestic together with Elias Oubella form the center-back trio of U19 coach Stefan Ruthenbeck. While Voloder and Oubella made their debut in the U21 in the regional league this season, Cestic was allowed to travel to the professional training camp in Benidorm. The latter is the closest to professional football due to its stature, but Voloder and Oubella are also highly valued in Cologne's NLZ. Cestic's development has already called for other clubs, and footmercato.com says French first division club Lille OSC should be interested in the center-back.

Change in central defense in Cologne in summer?

However, the trio at FC can hope to move even closer to the professional team in the coming months, as a change of personnel is possible in the defensive center in summer. Jorge Meré is unlikely to go through another season as a substitute in Cologne. The loan contract from Toni Leistner only runs until summer, whether the FC will pull the purchase option is unclear. When Rafael Czichos will return is open. So only Sebastiaan Bornauw currently has his place. Frederik Sörensen and Yann Aurel Bisseck will also return after their loan transactions. Leon Schneider from the U21 is also considered a candidate for the expanded professional squad.

Lemperle falls out with torn ligaments
Perspectively, this also includes Tim Lemperle. The 18-year-old also attended the training camp in Benidorm in January and is playing a strong season at the U19. Now, however, the outside track player must first pause. According to GBK information, Lemperle has torn a ligament and will be absent from Cologne's juniors for a few weeks. This further increases Stefan Ruthenbeck's concern on the offensive. After the winter departures from Sebastian Müller (Bielefeld) and Jan Thielmann (FC professionals), Lemperle is now the third key player in the strong first half of the season. And of all times before the top game next Saturday, when the U19 must lead to Mönchengladbach for the third place.

so Koln also rates 01-Oubella and 01-Cestic is reported to have tons of interest from Ligue 1. At this point it seems like all Koln U19 players everyone wants to poach, lol.

Thiaw made his 1BL/pro debut too this weekend.

and now to another point, in RETROSPECT, the CBs we picked for U17 Euro for the 01 age group were.
    K.Bukusu, Aidonis and Ferjani.

Based on current career progress, as mentioned above neither K.Bukusu nor Ferjani are anywhere near the 1st teams of their clubs. Not that they will never make 1BL but they have have to go elsewhere and likely take a potentially longer route.

guys like Bella-Kotchap and Ehlers dfb only showed interest after they jumped to pros early. I recall someone at RB Leipzig said that Jakel was a nothing player 2-3 years ago (at the time of U17 Euro) and that he made giant strides in those 2-3 years to now being a 1st team prospect and seen as someone who can make pro.

this does REITERATE how IRRELEVANT U15-U17 really is. Too many player don't make bigger strides until like 18-19. It really is why tons of players who get called up to U15-U17 never get called up later on and tons start to get called up in U18-onwards.
