I can't see moving Rubio unless we had a major striker move already lined up. Essentially we'd be going into 2022 with Shinyashiki as our lead striker which is not the type of depth we've been trying to build. now if we've been talking to a major signing and think we can move it up or at least lock it in then I could see it. (Rubio has his green card BTW, so does not count as an international)
Looks like Yarbrough comes in at a decent price tag: 1236044886710902784 is not a valid tweet id Wonder what this means for Irwin....we traded a 2nd round draft pick for him. Irwin also played well against DC, and certainly seemed like the GK the Rapids planned on keeping for a while. I also wonder if they are planning on signing him at the end of his contract. That's a lot of money for a season long loan of a GK.....which seems like a very RFO of old kind of move. Both players turn 31 this year for what its worth
Wasn't sure if he had his green card, thanks! But yeah, I'm with ya. Unless we have someone lined up - or at least some solid conversations with, I wouldn't want to move Rubio either. Out of any times to potentially move Rubio and bring in a DP level (or big GAM level) player, now is probably the best in terms of team build / depth. I just like thinking about the possibilities.

I assume Rawls' days are numbered. Either he'll be quietly cut or loaned to someplace like Memphis for the season. That would be about a quarter of Yarbrough's cost.
Irwin had several key saves vs DC United. He is will likely continue as a starter, but I think acquiring a player like Yarborough who can push Clint and fill in if injuries happen is a smart move.

One last(?) set of predictions on my blog. This might be it for View From the Couch. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2020/03/so-im-still-here.html

Anderson starts, Vint and Rodriguez in the 18 for the Switchbacks tonight (Rwatubyaye on a red card suspension and Jackson out for injury)
Matt Hundley to Memphis 901 and not Switchbacks Makes Sense https://lastwordonsoccer.com/2020/03/07/matt-hundley-memphis-901-loan/
With their win last night, the Rapids now have a better start in two games (6pts in two games) than they did in: 2019 (5pts through 12 games) 2018 (5pts through 4 games) 2017 (4pts through 8 games) 2016 (4pts through 3 games) 2015 (6pts through 4 games) 2014 (4pts through 3 games) 2013 (5pts through 6 games)
I'm not sure where this goes. I was watching the Portland game last weekend and saw Diego Chara commit his 800th foul (according to the announcers). He becomes the 3rd member of the coveted 800 Club along side Kyle Beckerman and Pablo Mastroeni!
Well, looks like Price is on pace for a 34 assist season . On a serious note, he's picking up where he left off last season. Not a bad start! Looks like the Rapids are really going with the "play it patiently out of the back " strategy. There is no doubt that at times it will not go as planed and we certainly saw that a few times last night. Bat that's the way it goes. Watching Chelsea destroy Everton today there were times when the Blues screwed up and committed a silly turnover. It didn't hurt the Blues, just like it didn't the Rapids last night. But of course at some point there is going to a goal conceded. Benezet hasn't played yet and Galván hasn't arrived yet, but both of them could wind up starting if Nicholson and Shinyashiki aren't consistently productive. So far neither of them have been consistently dangerous. I would bet that when Benezet is more or less fit he'll get some serious playing time.
Boy did I get that wrong!!! Apologies to everyone. Not 800 fouls...80 yellow cards. And Chara picked up his 81st tonight! Sorry for that mix up.

Awesome for Lewis! No Sam Vines? Did he not get called in or did we deny it since it's just qualfying?
This might also explain why he might of not been starting (or been a factor) if Rapids knew they were going to release him for U-23's.
I think it’s a combination of both. We have a lot more depth on the wings than we do at wingback, first and foremost. So international experience would be a lot better for Lewis than bench experience - and a lot better for the Rapids. Vines however, doesn’t really have a viable backup for us. Plus, he was called up to the full USMNT team last time around and performed well for the team, so I imagine they would want to be calling him up for that and not for Olympic qualifiers. If Vines keeps his form up, we just might see another Rapid playing in the World Cup.
