Horan with a 1v1 with the keeper and not able to finish. US with the better of the possession and chances so far, although England also had one in front of net that they didn't convert.

18' 0-0 USA look like their video speed is set to 1.25x. England are conserving energy, but their time windows on the ball are so short that they're getting swamped before they can lift heads to pass. Heath pokes ball away at 25m wide right, plays a quick 1-2 with Lavelle, tries to pass into Lloyd at box top center. Houghton pokes ball away, chases it coming out. Horan slides center-to-right and overshoots ball with right leg at 1.1 ball diameters altitude -- that's why she missed :p Houghton slides and also misses, slides on back and cleats Horan's leg. R1 quickly stops play. Horan resumes.

20' 0-0 Walsh chips long and flat to Parris sneaking behind Dunn through 6m 3-right. Parris juggles into own stride, heads across mouth directly into Naeher's basket. Offside anyways.

23' 0-0 USA quick vertical pass sends Horan 1-v-1 alongside Houghton to 14m mid-left. Houghton loses footing and sprawls flat, Horan settles ball bouncing at her feet, shoots right instep but not much power, Telford comes out to 9m and kick-saves. Foul called on the rebound?

I have to agree with Foudy there. I hate the way we've been defending corners lately.

    I agree
Me too! Zonal defending of corners is just stupid.

Lloyd flubs one but not as bad as the one Horan flubbed

Nice run from Lavelle though even if Lloyd didn't get the chance off. I love watching Lavelle when she's on. She almost seems to run faster with the ball than without.

25' 0-0 England fk at 30m right touch, bent behind USA's entire high line, bounces across box through 6-top left, USA clears over endline left. Wow, we had 5 back and all 5 had to chase that toward our own endline.

26' 0-0 USA left ck, to 6-top right. Hemp back-heads down to 2m 1/3 left shin-high, directly onto Scott's foottop, catches her leaning back on the other foot and she reflex-volleys it over the bar

28' 0-0 Lavelle creeps to arc top mid-right, Greenwood jams her left foot shot window. Lavelle scoops/toe-pokes a delicate pass to Lloyd facing away at spot, Lloyd does a near-perfect catch-and-turn, can't pull trigger, eventually pokes wide right and chases.

Except that Horan's shot would have gone in if she did not hit the keeper while Lloyd wasted her shot completely as there was no mistake the 'keeper could make that turns that wasted shot into a goal. A shot over the top is simply a gift to the other team. It is a waste to miss high.

30' 0-0 O'Hara waits under a high dropping ball at own 35m box right. Hemp comes back to ball, jumps past O'Hara's back, heads ball first, bumps O'Hara down flat. Crowd roars, but it looked like chest-to-back, not head-to-head.

32' 0-0 Heath receives at 12m box right, Greenwood cedes about 2m cushion (because Heath has been beating her down box right). Heath pulls an early ground cross to 12m 1/5 left past, Lloyd is unmarked thereat. Medium-soft one-touch shot toward 1/3 left low, Telford dives horizontally and catches. USA's speed-of-idea is disrupting England's marking, but we're flubbing the finishes.

Possibly true but, so far, nobody that has played there has really shown to be better at center forward except in flashes.

Is the ref from CONCACAF? If not she would fit right in. She is horrible just like the majority of CONCACAF refs.

36' 0-0 O'Hara joins the attack at 27m box right, floats a cross over Lloyd's head to 6m 4-(their)right, Telford catches.

37' 0-0 USA high press catches Williamson/Houghton 2-v-2 with Press/Lloyd in England's box. England switch left, win a throw-in deep in their own 1/4.

39' 0-0 England cross to Stanway at arc top mid-left, Dahlkemper scissors ball to a stop. Long switch left to Press just behind midfield wide left, she runs around 1, long switch right to Heath at 27m box right. Heath backs down Greenwood to 15m mid-right, does a right outstep dump-and-chase down mid-right, Greenwood bumps her down with right forearm/side. No call, crowd howls. R1 might have considered that a 50-50 shoulder challenge, with Greenwood not behind -- or obstruction.

40' 0-0 Scott shoots from ~arc top right, directly into Naeher's torso at goalline center.

Given the number of opportunities both teams have had it is amazing we go into the half 0-0.

I disagree with Foudy. That takedown of Heath in the box was minor contact. No penalty kick deserved.

We're not getting much out of Press on the left flank. Nor out of Horan. Time for Mewis and Rapinoe? Is Rapinoe hurt?

I'm impressed with that English newcomer Hemp. She's had some good touches against both O'Hara and Heath.

Not a big fan of Salazar on play-by-play. It feels like he's forcing it a lot, and he's definitely not giving Foudy anything to work with as color.

USA is dominating the run of play, but has looked shaky on the back line. England, I think, has actually had more legit scoring opportunities, but holy crap Horan should have at least forced a save on her sitter. Instead, she bonked it right into the keeper. No subs at halftime, run the full-court press for the first 10' of the second half, and work through the buildup instead of taking half-chances.

44' 0-0 Long ball to Heath at 25m wide right. Heath dribbles at Greenwood backpedaling through box top right, consistent 2m gap to 11m mid-right. Heath shoots right instep but slices it wide right, Telford dives and double-blocks it over endline right.

45' 0-0 USA right ck, to Lloyd at 12m 1/3 left, twist-header into too many defenders. Ball drops at 10m, Press shoots high.

HT 0-0. USA 11(4)-(2)5 shots(sog), 3-8 fouls, 1-1 offsides, 4-2 corners. Telford has been sharper than our final shots. On the other side, England shoots center mass, and Naeher hasn't needed to move.
