Could be a good role playing member, turning 25 this summer. I'm looking forward to seeing how he fits into the midfield. Right now, it looks like they will be starting off in 4-2-3-1, so he, Owusu, and Teibert will battle it out in the next couple of weeks to see who gets to start beside In-Beom. Reyna will probably continue in the CAM role with Montero as his back up. Rose remains as a CB back up until Godoy and the Serbian are ready to go. With the Bikel signing and his ability to do RB, I think we won't be seeing Godoy going there.

Ideally we need a DM who can do it alone so InBeom can move up into the attacking line. Teibert isn't it or he would have claimed the position years ago. I can see Owusu as DM and a 4-1-4-1 formation. Reyna, InBeom, Bikel, Dajome.

    From GC Forum:

Lucas: Unfortunately I can’t imagine them actually using the transfer money to buy a player. I hate being so pessimistic

GC- You do know that they’ve spent around $13m in the last year.

GC is right, but none of the owners spent a dime- it all came from the davies transfer $$$$- until the owners actually use their own money, it means twat that they are ambitious for the Club- THEY ARENT- its a continuation of the smoke and mirrors, the dog and pony show

any summer transfer money received for in-beom and adnan will be used for new players- and i dont think the Caps will get very much for either player

but as Old Fan has said for years-- the owners have tight arses for spending on upgrades- money in- money out,,, but nothing extra and its killing the franchise

its the old adage- YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

what we saw last night wasnt a one-off- thats as good as it gets- perhaps the new players in 2-3 weeks can help, but dont hold your breath- SKC are a mid-table team and they dominated us

what score are you predicting vs LAG ?

A smash and grab win, oddly enough. Such is the nature of this league. They'll play off the counter and burn the Galaxy for a couple of goals from careless turnovers, Crepeau will make a ton of big saves but Captain Rusty will get the credit for his work rate and the late goal the Caps concede will be blamed entirely on the sub Rose. It will be hyped as a masterclass performance and then someone will post here that the only thing holding the club back is it's future stadium situation or the coronavirus or both. That's my take on the narrative.

THere is always that "cement ceiling" I call it (glass ones you can break through, cement, not !) named Greg Kerfoot

It is what it is. Axel and CO can certainly do better with the money they have. MDS can get sacked and a better coach can incrementally improve.

But ultimately, we still have that core issue that still is not resolved. Expectations should be tempered around that.

Our new CEO is not going to stick for that for long, he may have an expiry date of 2 years if they don't open the wallet.

Now, they will have more transfer money if they sell Adnan and there will be more Davies money as he is likely hitting the various targets to trigger more. But all that means is buying players that fit within the MLS monies provided.

Until they break Kerfoot's sphincter on a player with a salary 2 million or more; we will be singing BANG YOUR HEAD.

Enjoy the match experience at least! Thirsty Pigeon has an nice selection this year although I have to make two trips 30 seconds apart because I can only buy one tall can at a time !

PS - that deal where the players arrive outside the stadium for the supporters.. yuk. I think they didnt get into the stadium until an hour before kickoff. I can't see the players or coaches being happy with that; neither am I. That will have to change.

    gotta love greg's sphincter !!

    on another note-

    @GlassCityFC

    #VWFC

    youth movement:

    Inbeom, 23 , Gutiérrez, 23 , Khmiri, 22 , Owusu, 22 , Cornelius, 22 , Metcalfe, 21 , Veselinović, 20 , Mukumbilwa, 20 , Bair, 20 , Raposo, 20 , Hasal, 20
    Baldisimo, 19 , Colyn, 17 , Facchineri, 17 , Pecile, 17

some might think that this youth movement bodes well for the Caps; future- IT DOESNT!!!

its all about developing players so the Club can sell them for a profit- its not for future Whitecap teams

    kinda like SOCCER PIMPING

News is that the lee dong-gyeong deal is done and the AMF will be a Cap- cost is apparently $1 mill transfer money-- but I can guarantee you 100% that the ownership group is paying NOTHING- money left from the davies transfer pot and TAM -- he will be a future prospect for selling in 2 years should he do well

its not about building the Club - its about getting a bigger return on your investments-- some of this is a natural happening in professional soccer- but the Caps are taking it to a new level by announcing and being proud of this- its a vision of the Club

ITS NOT THE VISION TO MAKE THE CAPS A LONG-TERM COMPETITOR TO WIN TROPHIES... and I find that disgusting as a supporter for over 42 years

the other thing to remember is that the Caps and MDS will have to integrate 4 new players who are supposedly better players- lee, veselinovic, Owusu, and bikel- and reintegrate a healthy godoy

YIKES!! its another make-over of 1/2 of the potential starting 11- this all- or most of it- should have happened before preseason training

its taking Club incompetence to a continuation of 2019-- and its why so many supporters are giving up- we could see crowds under 15 000 by april-may

I'm sure MDS would have loved to have it all done in Nov/Dec as well but player availability, negotiations always take a long time, injuries, visas and who knows what else happen. It's up to MDS to deal with it.

apparently- outside of andy rose replacing Cornelius at CB- MDS is playing the same players in the same formation vs SKC- of course all his new recruits are either injured or have just arrived- WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!! the chances are that we will be over-run again, especially with teibert and in-beom being the only designated MFs and relying on dajome, Milinkovic and reyna to back-track which is like wishing on a death star

this a seriously dysfunctional Club and it looks even worse than 2019 which was supposed to be a learning curve for MDS and lots of new players to integrate- and I was a supporter of MDS being hired- sad to say, nothing has really changes

the Whitecaps are the worst run Club with the worst owners in MLS- I can see owner, jeff mallet, flying in for one of his pep talks and lying to all us supporters AGAIN

    TICK, TICK, TICK

Andy Rose at CB- GOOD GRIEF!!

having said this, MDS should be given until May to turn the ship around with his new players which will be better than what we have, but compared to other MLS teams, nothing earth-shattering to substantially change our fortunes

I gotta stop as this is a repeat of my 2019 posts

yeh!! he was the best Cap player, along with bikel-- who would have thunked?? I can see why I was by-passed as the new Cap head coach, but still hoping ;)

gotta remove the eggs from my face, but I think a lot of us Cap supporters will have to go to the wash basin- mind you, LAG made it quite easy against our defence by not keeping the ball on the ground and using their speed with chicharito

looks like we have a new RB in bikel and dajome has to be looking over his shoulders at reposo who energized our attack with his quick passing and creativity; looks like a player ready for MLS starting time

That and they committed 23 fouls to our 7 and most were just the clumsy stupid type, not even needed. LAG need to realize that Zlatan and Chicharito are both great players but hardly interchangeable. Zlatan just made things happen by sheer force of will but Chicharito is much more of a team player and his teammates haven't clued in yet on how to spring him.

Given that Bikel was a last minute addition I was completely impressed with his play. We had a lot more action down the right side so it wasn't all eggs in the left side basket. That helps a lot. Raposo made some very slick plays and was in on both the goal and PK action.

Got the result right but some of the narrative wrong. Good to see genuine praise for Rose.

Down the road (whenever that will be), I'm really looking forward to a starting midfield of HIB, Bikel and Owusu.

Well, that's not going to happen. HIB's agent was able to spin in a positive way his client's NT performances and potential and blame his underachievement here on the lack of a decent supporting cast (not untrue, btw) into a move to Rubin Kazan which the club's apologists are spinning as a win for the club and way for the future (young DP rent a players bought and then sold on short term for profit). It's hard to build continuity when you keep changing your core players.

    Caps spin is always funny.

You know, the "profit" means what? They have to spend it on transfer fees for players in most cases and so it doesn't mean a lot unless they source better players.

Their mantra (I call it excuse) , to not be a top team was always to say their goal was to develop and sell. Another mindset to justify being a bottom feeder. That is what you do if running a CPL or USL team. Problem is, the players they actually sell, are ones that underperformed their contracts here and had to be shipped out (other than Davies of course).

In saying that, HIB vastly under performed. Whether that was on him, or his surroundings, he did not work out well. Best to him in Russia.
