This is pretty early in the season for Hurtado to get one of his standard two goals per season. Unless he's operating on a new script?
Down in Phoenix for the week. Got settled in just at the end of the skc game. Forgot Hurtado was on the team.
For those of you anxious for some Sunday soccer, a couple A-league games on. This guy for Western United has a first half hat trick. 4-2 with a few minutes left in first half.
No big deal... don't hear them and very rarely even notice. I did smell plane fuel at some point today, but that is unusual.
Vancouver has the youngest roster in the league. You'd hope in that case that there's a lot of elite young talent that you can project to be impactful in 3 years. Taking a step back now in order to surge in a couple of years. Fingers crossed. FCD has the 2nd youngest roster in the league, and they've been focusing on it for quite a bit longer. They literally signed an academy player right before the season opener, and then started him. Tanner Tessman combined with another homegrown, Paxton Pomykal, on the goal that put the game away. The thing with Dallas is they aren't really trying to sell out a big stadium of demanding fans. They're kind of hoping for a "if you build it, they will come" domestic strategy. So far its not enticing the casual fan. But they sure are generating this assembly line of talent out of their academy...…………………. FCD's going to quietly be good this season. Their defense is going to be strong again as usual. Let's not forget that they arguably gave Seattle their toughest game in the playoffs last year. These young players keep gaining experience. I don't know if they'll have the "difference makers" that other clubs have to win the Cup in the end. But they're going to be a tough out...………………... Another little stat. FCD only has 7 foreign-born players on their roster. Their roster is young...……...and American.

I'm in a tough spot with the Red Bulls this year. I'm genetically predisposed to wanting them to fail because NY. But I sort of want to see them succeed with this mix of homegrown (or grown from USL) players and a couple of imports. I think people over-rate players whose only real success comes in a league like the Eredivisie or Liga NOS. I want the American players to prove the are just as good or better than those sorts of players.
I see that this female announcer either is a homer or is from the English style of "he still has a limb so it isn't a foul" school. Wormgoor full on catches Tinnerholm with his cleats on the ankle. Yes, got the ball. Might have got more of Tinnerholm.
