James has been the most important player for the NT in the recent years, but I'm not going to romanticize his position any further. If he isn't playing in his club and if he is totally out of form the coach should have permission to leave him out of the team. James usually works his ass off for Colombia, but he does not always deliver. I've seen many poor/average performances from him. His club form reflects his NT-form. Right now there are not many good options in the midfield so calling James up is what I would expect. But he must play well if he wants to be part of Queiroz's team in the future.
Yeah you do to some degree have to cater to your star players and national team is not paying the bills like your club team but James is at Madrid largely because of the stage the national team gave him at the World Cup, James is a advertising darling in Colombia and enjoys god like status because of his work with the national team. He's not ever as far as I can tell been mistreated by the national team and to be fair he's also always gone above and beyond to play and perform for us, in that sense he deserves credit and respect. But if that has changed and he is inching towards being a negative influence (that would be the case if its made obvious there are two standards for him and others) added with the fact that he's not playing for club the coach has a lot more power here. Lets not lose sight of the fact that James is damaging his own career here with his decisions at club level, what CQ is doing is most likely for his own good, CQ has been around a long time and there's a good chance like the rest of us we can see James mistake, so its not necessarily a move that is made without the players best interests in mind. We all agree James needs to get his head on straight and leave Madrid, CQ most likely sees it as well and is trying to help James see it. That's good for all involved in that scenario.
According to the Colombian Fed President Jesurún…. …. James will be on the roster and will play. How much he plays or if he starts is another issue.
And with a possible injury to Diaz that can keep him out as mentioned by Cruzifero... … I think the chances of James starting just went up a bunch of percentage points for Venezuela. Oh what a difference 48 hours make for me.
Unfortunately, we will need him against Chile. Although I would like to see us play without him against a home game when we face Venezuela. Improving the squad without him in a game like that is a good step.
At least a fitness trainer was provided for James/Arias given their situations - I don’t know if that has been done in the past, but I can fully support that https://en.as.com/en/2020/02/27/football/1582838199_086530.amp.html
The trainer being sent over is a very good idea. The fact that CQ was asked the question about James statement and didn't deny it is pretty indicative imo, makes me think it's more likely he did actually say it then we thought before. I think its clear when he says the situation is strange that he's probably referring to James decision to stay and sit on the bench for a whole year with WCQ on the horizon. It's not good, James needs to feel some urgency to not feel like he can just walk in and be guaranteed to start.
He might as well just ask to go to Colombia and train with Junior for the next 3 weeks. Zidane would probably give him his blessing.
Surprise, surprise Lucas Vazquez goes 90 and the team has one of its worse performances of the year. That guy is such a donkey but Zidane would stick with him to his death over James.
So a member of Real Madrid's basketball team tested positive forcing all players of their entire club to be quarantined. All of La Liga football is also suspended.
must be nice to be quarantined in their multi million dollars homes with their beautiful wifes, baby mommas, girlfriends, or mistresses
wasn't James having baby momma problems? Probably not a great time to be quarantined together if true.
Its depressing how long without football does to someone... And I am talking about us and not Asprilla.
