So it sounds as though hourly CP updates* from Lampard might be too much to expect. What's typical from the player's side though? I don't follow CP on any social media, so I don't know how often he normally posts or tweets, etc. I ordinarily would not see the harm if CP posted that he was swimming laps, up on a stationary bike or taking a Zumba class. "Finally out of bed!" would be worrisome, I guess, though a positive sign. I think some here are suspicious that CP's radio silence is a result of the earlier "I'm okay - no you're not" kerfuffle which we made so much out of here. Most thoughtful posters** would probably agree that CP would be well-advised to rehab quietly, and un-critically, even if he's got a mouthful to say. I guess we'll have to wait for CP's autobiography*** to sort this all out. ++++++++++++ * On the half-hour, if you please. ** Actually, the very definition of a thoughtful poster is one that agrees with me. *** Ideally his first autobiography, not his second or third.
Again, I am happy to explain things I actually said. If I said that I know what Frank thinks, I’d be happy to respond to questions like that. But I didn’t. All I said was that I would like to hear about the injury from someone other than Frank. Say, for example, the Chelsea trainer. Or CP’s doctor. Or Pulisic. I have a severe lack of trust in Frank as a caretaker of Pulisic‘s career and playing time. You may choose to think that that view is silly or wrong. In fact, you have made it clear that that is what you think. I am fine with that. But I am not going to respond to questions that are premised on things I didn’t say, don’t believe, etc., Or on your misinterpretations of my remarks. If you can’t imagine good reasons for me to make the statements I make, that’s really not my problem. I was stating exactly what I felt, which was that I would like to hear from another source, an authoritative one, about the injury.
Is it fair to say that as an American, I might have a skewed view of injury reports due to NFL bowing to the pressures of gambling interests. Injury reports are mostly legit, injury return dates are projected, availability publicly declared well in advance of the actually contest etc. I have noticed this type of football does not work like that. College athletics injury disclosures have changed some due to Hippa, but that information frequently gets out due to the rabid nature of fans. Soccer appears to be more tight lipped about such things.
Right but where have you come to expect such things? This isn't done... do trainers and doctors give press conferences about player injuries? This is what I'm saying, this level of skepticism, or should I say mistrust, suggests something which you are leaving unsaid. I'm not even claiming your view is silly or wrong, I'm asking you -- where do you even get the idea that trainers speak to the media consistently about player injuries? I mean... I assume you have to have that idea in your head in order to want it to happen in this case, right? Or are we just wishing for things out loud that we know do not happen for a whole ton of obvious logical reasons? I may have said your logic is silly -- frankly I think it proves to be as it clearly doesn't hold up to the slightest bit of genuine probing or even the most tame good-faith inquiry -- but that position/view in and of itself is perfectly reasonable! I'm asking for the reason you hold that view, and you up to this point have provided very, very little which comports with logic and/or reality. Yeah, that's fair enough. But I did not mischaracterize anything you said -- what you said is a request that is very rarely reflected in reality, and that leads to a whole bunch of other questions about what you're thinking (IMO).
he has an adductor injury which was the Tyler Adams injury iirc. I remember I was listening to Tony Meolas show and an ortho doc called in and he let out a long sigh and said 3-6 months easy. Said it was a nasty nasty injury. They should send him to the specialists TA went to, who has an unpronounceable name and is in Austria (I think). He fixed TA quick.
I have not “come to expect” anything. You apparently are not capable of disagreement without putting words in my mouth, so I won’t be responding to you any more.
There are different types of abductor injuries... and the severity varies as well. What I am still a bit confused about is that it was reported a little over a week ago that he was training with the U23 squad. Pretty sure the injury doesn't care what squad you are training with. At any rate... any time an injury lingers like this it is a bad sign. Heck... we may not even see him for the rest of the season. I will say it again... next man up. Shame that he can't stay healthy. Chelsea needs an infusion of talent and stability at the forward positions. CP will likely get his shot to make the starting 11 at some point... but he had a real opportunity to solidify himself with the club moving forward and injuries derailed it. I am certain the organization is having doubts. As for me? I have no doubts whatsoever that he has the talent to be a star in the EPL... just not sure his body will hold up.
I asked the u23 question a few days ago and it sounds like he had another set-back since training with u23 assumed he was close and within a few days, he was going to be promoted to training with the regular squad. Haven't heard anything about whether he's still training with u23 which could be good news.
Huh? I said adductor (Groin area) not abductor (outside hip area). Adductor is a far worse injury from my understanding especially from a soccer standpoint. depressingly there exists this statement: Renstrom et al. found that 42% of athletes with muscle-tendon groin injuries were not able to return to physical activity more than 20 weeks after the initial injury. However, an active training program directed at strength and conditioning of muscles of the pelvis and especially the adductor muscles is very effective at treating patients with long-standing, adductor-related groin pain.[8][9 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK493166/
Yes, I know everyone is frustrated with the fact that 3 of the young players most of us were most excited about this year--CP, Adams, and Weah (some might have put Sargent in this category) were injured. I sympathize. But if we look at it from the perspective of who we could *potentially* field for this WC Qualifying cycle, this has been a great year. Aside from Sargent, who hasn't really impressed, we have at least 5 young guys--McKinney, Adams, CP, Reyna, Dest--who if healthy are locks for the NT. And MLS has a bumper crop of good young US players as well. If people can stay healthy, the USA could have a really nice team in 2-3 years. That's assuming there won't be any more young YA breakthroughs--and there may be.
Good USA EST morning everyone, I'll agree with one of the points made in the thread lately: there hasn't been much information about Pulisic to be had. Unfortunately, in times of resource scarcity we humans tend to turn on one another, oppress the insiders and kill the outsiders, eat more jerky, wear camouflage to the grocery store, and point out that differing perspectives expressed on the internet are signs of deep moral failing. That last one tends not to be true. I mean, sometimes it is (bungadiri looks meaningfully at That Guy Who Said Mean Things to Me Once (And I'm a Moderator for Crying Out Loud)), but only seldom and I wouldn't put any of the opinions expressed in this thread in that category. So let's please refocus our attention on the arguments being made, rather than on the people making them. Furthermore, if you're making an argument, please forgive anyone who responds with a counterargument (that stays within the terms of service, of course), because that's one of the main reasons the board exists.
I'm legitimately in the process of rehabbing this same type of injury CP has and, let me tell you, it sucks. Everything feels completely fine, until it doesn't... and then i'm viciously reminded that my groin feels like it's pulling away from all it attaches to. i can't even begin to imagine how it feels for someone who has thrice the explosiveness that I have when running. I'm going on month three at the moment and things finally are feeling normal again... so fingers crossed CP can get back to where he was in a timely fashion.
One thing is to distrust Lampard as a manager/caretaker but another to not trust him in CP's recovery. Lampard has very little if nothing to do with that. Beside playing him too soon, there is very little impact Lampard would have in CP's injury.
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321007#prevention Sounds like Grade 2 or 3 hip adductor (groin) strain - weeks to months I just hope treatment and rehab and the future he does not suffer reoccurrence.
