Gonna try and catch the Red Bull vs Zenit game tomorrow here in Doha - they are literally playing in the middle of a park lol! Hopefully will be open to the public somewhat... we'll see how it goes...
So wound up going to the Red Bull vs Zenit game here in Doha, and sure glad I did! Was pretty awesome just played in the middle of a park with people passing by without a care. As I was with some Russians, we managed to meet a bunch of Zenit's Russian players as well as the FC Bayern Munich women's team who were also around. Red Bull won 6-3 pretty easily to be honest. After the match I hung around a bit until after Jesse gave his interview to Red Bull TV and he was more than happy to take a photo and talk to a few supporters. Can't help but think what could have been as the USA were supposed to be there playing Red Bull and Zenit too...Anyway, great to meet Jesse, seemed like a pretty mellow guy, or should I say 'Marsch-mellow' guy.
Win the league and cup, probably go out of Europe within the next two rounds. The market value of their remaining players is still almost 4 times that of any other club in the Ö. Bundesliga.
wow i just looked at the remaining fixtures and lask is really in the drivers seat. 3 matches remaining and none against the 'name' clubs. what a tough pill this would be to swallow
Three matches remaining before the league splits. The top 6 and bottom 6 split into, essentially, separate leagues after match 22, and then play home-and-away within those groups. It's a 32-match season. Salzburg and LASK will still play each other twice. Plenty of time to make up ground.
that makes a lot more sense! does winner pre split get any kind of bonus? or is that basically the austrian supporters shield? *ducks*
No bonus, but pre-split points carry over somewhat. Basically, points are divided by two and rounded down going into the second, split phase. In the event there’s a tie on points at the end of the season, a team whose points were rounded down is ranked ahead of a team that wasn’t.
looks like losing two (three with a healthy pongracic?) starters has caught up with jesses boys. now the real work for him begins
Led 1-0 for 15' in the first half, then 2-1 for 10' in the second, but finished 2-2, and out they go. Let's wish the team well in league play.
Finished 2-2. Knocked out, 3-6 on aggregate. Salzburg has won the league every year since 2013. I think Marsch definitely needs to hit par to keep being talked about for openings in the top leagues.
Into the cup final: Cup final here we come! That's the way to respond to difficult weeks. 💪________#RBSASK 1-0 pic.twitter.com/o7BS9hSKe2— FC Red Bull Salzburg EN (@FCRBS_en) March 5, 2020 Jesse #Marsch: "It was a good battle and a good match - perhaps the best since the winter break. LASK squared up to us right to the very end, but we are in the final, and I'm very proud of that. It is a product of our mentality and a few small tactical changes." #RBSASK pic.twitter.com/WQXJHnyBbw— FC Red Bull Salzburg EN (@FCRBS_en) March 6, 2020

Salzburg resumed training on the 21st. Google and the like say that the Austrian Cup final is this Friday, but I can't imagine that's true.
