Brandon Williamson ('98) and Allexon Saravia ('00) will be with Loudoun.

Williamson did some post-draft analysis here:

Williamson was a projected first-round pick in last month's four-round Major League Soccer SuperDraft, but went unselected.

“I never got any serious feedback on why I personally wasn’t selected in the draft,” said Williamson, who was among the 40 players invited to participate in the MLS College Showcase Dec. 13-15 in Raleigh, N.C. “This year, very few midfielders were drafted in comparison to forwards and defenders but that could be a result of the supply and demand for certain positions within the MLS already.”

Williamson said he was surprised at not being drafted as was “most everyone I talked to within the soccer community after the draft, but it was always a possibility.”

I believe that On The Internet, stuff like this is typically paired with the word "boom." From the inbox:

SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 27, 2020) – San Antonio FC today announced that forward Jose Gallegos has been signed to a multi-year professional contract, pending league and federation approval. Gallegos was originally a member of the SAFC roster on a USL Academy player agreement after he first joined in April of 2019. Per club policy, specific terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Now they can sell him for a decent amount of money.

IT'll be fantastic if we can start to see a pipeline of young talent coming out of San Antonio. Metro San Antonio has a huge population with the right kind of demographics. Metro San Antonio is bigger than Kansas City or Portland or Columbus.

Worth noting that San Antonio have had a couple of other youngsters sign these sorts of deals, and they've all sorta disappeared. Who was that first academy player they made a big deal of? Oh...........USYNTer Ethan Bryant. I never saw much development from him. As far as I know he moved to the Belgian 2nd tier, and has never played a game.

Hopefully what we're seeing is real and the caliber of players that have come thru recently (Torres, Gallegos, etc) is a step up in quality.

Nitpicking only because it seems important in this context: I'm not sure Bryant ever signed a pro contract with them. I think we (myself included) thought he did, then it turned out he didn't, or something like that.

They did sign Devin Vega to his first pro deal, though I don't believe they developed him.

I think most would agree that Gallegos passes the eye test more than Bryant.

I think Vega was developed in San Antonio, went up to FCD for a few seasons, and then they transferred him back to San Antonio. If I remember, he had a family reason for wanting/needing to be there. Now at Real Monarchs.

He's a senior international now as he's represented Puerto Rico. Scored a goal in CONCACAF Nations League against Anguilla.

    This makes me happy.

FC Dallas's player development is so good, they even help players who score against them get pro deals!

Based on the original signing announcement -- kind of interesting. He is indeed a SA local who joined FCD from the San Antonio Scorpions and residency. The now-defunct Scorpions do not appear to have been a technical precursor of SAFC.

I'm really hoping USL can grow to the point that these guys make livable wages. With how little Americans get time in MLS it's imperative that there's a largely domestic pro league where Americans can get time. If the national team is going to get very competitive we need a place where our Jamie Vardy's can play.

I'm glad to see all these guys sign in USL but it's more like minor league baseball than minor league soccer at this point. You play until you run out of money and then you have to find another career. It's not a great system. If the minimum ever gets up to $50k or so then I think we'll see true integration with MLS rather than the weird relationship they have now.

Curious to see what Philly 2 does with its 2020 roster. They announced some moves late last year, but haven't said much (that I've seen, anyway) in 2020 for whatever reason.

    https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/b...eel-fc-announce-roster-news-ahead-2020-season

A name that seems to be kind of hanging out there is Harriel, whose HS class graduated last year (according to TDS), played a bunch in the USL last season for a young guy, and opted not to play this fall at Clemson.

I believe Harriel played more USL minutes than any other player who finished the season still on a USL Academy contract. As you noted about his NCAA situation, one would imagine he'll go pro somewhere soon.

Orlando City B is also a team that is shrouded in mystery. It feels to me like they operate in their own little universe. No MLS guys get any playing time there, and they have a habit of signing really obscure domestic players, to go along with a smattering of random Brazilians.

San Antonio signs 5 youth players to USL developmental contracts (non-pro contracts)

Jacob Castro, Josh Ramsey and Sebastian Mercado, Rocky Perez and forward Fabrizio Bernal

It's interesting that Ramsey came from Solar to play for San Antonio, seems like a good deal for both sides.

Yes, from what I understand Ramsey can still play with Solar if he does not make the travel team with SAFC. Good situation for training in a professional environment and still getting minutes if needed with Solar. I assume there is a lot less pressure to sign a pro USL deal like people are posting here about FCD.

Be interested to see how this goes, and if other Solar players make the move as well.

Here's their roster, which I haven't gone through closely. They did get a couple young American guys on loan from South American teams, among other interesting players, including UNC's 99 Raul Aguilera, who appears to have left school a year early.

On the Scuffed pod today, Belz stated a fairly well known YNT player will be signing with Louisville tomorrow. Perhaps, Gomez?

They are coached by Hackworth, so I suspect it’s Chris Goslin.

You are probably right, but at this point, does that count as a big signing? I know he got hurt, but it's been two years since he played, right?
