Out of players on the provisional roster I actually would want called up for qualifying I think we'll only have trouble with getting Reyna and Uly released from their clubs. Everyone else barring injury should be fair game.

I personally would rather see Reyna with the Senior Team next month anyway.

Which is where he WILL be, barring injury.

Olympic qualifying is much more important than senior team friendlies for me. Especially when Gio has 0 chance of playing for another country and is only 17 with probably 15 more years with the USMNT so we don't need to rush him into the team right now.

With an injury to Arriola we need Reyna to play Right wing. Heck I would probably start him even if Paul was healthy..

The kid is getting minutes on a good team in Champions. He does not need to play on the U 23. I think he is ready to be on the Senior team.

He's without a doubt ready but we don't need him in meaningless friendlies when we have Olympic qualifying which we haven't qualified for since 2008. If it was a competitive match then yes he should 100% be with the USMNT and potentially starting but not for a worthless friendly.

For a younger player every time he is called up to train with the Senior team is valuable and not meaningless.

This way he will be extra ready and prepared once the official matches start up in the Hex.

This is the best time to acclimate him.

If we cannot advance to the Olympics because Reyna is not on the squad then we do not deserve to go anyway.

With our luck, this time we qualify but the Olympics get cancelled.

There are only two camps until the Hex. Anyone who might be remotely useful in the Hex should be with the senior team as soon as it becomes clear they might be remotely useful.

Players like Yueill and Cannon are probably not first choice at their position and well integrated. Reyna might be first choice by August, and has never been integrated.

Dortmund refused his release for qualifying anyway.

I actually think Ledezma and Uly have not been with their senior teams because those clubs know they are leaving for three weeks in March. PSV and Wolfsburg are doing the players a service at a marginal loss to their first teams.

That’s a name I’d hate to be saddled with. Acronym basically translates to worthless. Can’t imagine the cruel teasing he had to deal with.

Regarding Gio Reyna, what we want or what US Soccer wants are pretty irrelevant.

The FIFA rules say he doesn't have to be released for YNT games and there's zero to suggest BorDor would release him on their own.

They do, however, under FIFA rules have to release him to the senior team during the international match days.

Makes this a pretty open and shut case.

I think integration of Reyna is more important with the senior team as I expect to play a role in WCQ this fall.

As much as I'm a proponent of the Olympics ... this is one case where I think the player jumps because he's not just depth to the senior team; he has a chance to be a difference maker.

We're moving that way. After not qualifying for the last 2, for some weird reason I still think qualifying is important ... even if Tokyo is canceled.

For everyone except AOC, Antonee Robinson, Josh Sargent, Tim Weah, and Johnny Cardoso this is likely a pretty gut wrenching thing to see as it means their usmnt aspirations are more than likely over.

I don’t see how not making a qualifying roster at youth level means anyone’s USMNT aspirations are over. This isn’t even a USMNT roster.

Per Goff, Pines is out for several more weeks with an ankle injury. Weah is out injured, of course. I'm still overage. :(
