The Nats made about $340 million in revenue in 2019, and that’s going to go up quite a bit this year. I wonder if MLS teams will hit that number in my lifetime?
It's too expensive to bring cranes out to EagleBank Field for the completion of the canopies. 1232302324669874176 is not a valid tweet id
Thats also true billionaire ownership. Based on my convos with someone other than my rep STMs who want to get the STM giveaways will need to enter @ gate B. I expect entry will always be faster there. Its a sub-optimal point of entry for 90% of seats in that stadium and if you sit on the west side its as far from your seats as you can get. The ticket return thing is an all or nothing proposition. According to a VP I've spoken with, they're expecting significantly less in FAM balances, mostly thanks to the schedule. They've added to the experiences you can buy with FAM or cash. This will become a revenue driver for them and they never really considered a system like Caps or Nats have where you get points to spend based on your STM spend. Arepa Zone is no longer a fixed concession. Instead they'll have a food truck inside the stadium someplace Gate C can be dodgy, especially as you get closer to kickoff. Nothing like full swarm gate A, but its not as well staffed. I would imagine that the manufacturer was on the hook for the crane. Its their car and their advertising.
As noted by PSURoss, this is an all or nothing thing. If you go into the app now, you'll see that the "Return" button is disabled for the home opener, but enabled for the next (and remaining?) games. At least this is the case on my Android phone. As an aside, I'm still annoyed that the capability to download tickets to my Google Pay wallet sometime in the middle of last season and remains this way. My rep says this shouldn't be the case, and that nothing was changed in the app (in fact, the app version hadn't been updated when this first happened so I think some back-end setting did). My friends with iPhones still had the download capability last season, I haven't asked about this season.
Yeah, the all or nothing is annoying, especially since they've made the deadline 5 days instead of two. That's just a step back. I downloaded the season opener ticket to my iPhone wallet without any issues, so at least that's still working.
At one point (may still be the case), the EagleBank signage (since they sponsor the club level) was more prominent outside the stadium than any Audi branding.
Re: Google Pay option. I received this from my rep. In order to save tickets to your Google Pay, you will have to go through your phone’s web browser and access account manager on the website. One on there, the Google Pay save option will appear and you will have no problem saving them from there. Seems 'effing kludgy to me, given that the save to Google Pay used to be an option from the app. Put another way, what 'effing use is the Android app if you have to use the web browser to save the tickets into Google Pay?
It still is, I was driving my brother in law home after a Wizards game a month ago and he asked me who played at EagleBank Field.
BTW, I tried the advice regarding using the web browser to save to Google Pay as suggested by my rep. Doesn't work, you get a pop up that says the ticket is accessed through your mobile device. Back full circle that the Android version of the DC United app can't save tickets into Google Pay so you need a live cellular connection at the time you enter the stadium. This really is a major eff up by DCU. That feature used to work and now doesn't. Maybe if they paid the IT department, things would be better.
I've just noticed on the online seating chart that Section 135 has a disclaimer about standing, cheering, and flag waving that only 136-137 used to have. Seems like they've expanded the supporters section to now include 135 as an option with seats?
I got the same info from my rep when I asked about it yesterday. I tried today for the STM discount member card and one ticket for the home opener and It worked for me. Used the chrome browser on my phone (Pixel 2), went to the DCU site, then went into account manager, found the game, then the specific ticket and when I viewed it there was a "Save to phone" at the bottom. This asked if I wanted to open the link in Chrome or Google Pay, I selected the latter and it was in there. A pain to be sure, but it worked. Maybe there's differences between some Android phones?
I finally got it to work as well. But it's still kludgy and I know that the "save to Google Pay" option used to be available directly from the app. At this point, I don't see the purpose of the Android app if you have to use the phone's web browser to access tickets to save them to Google Pay.
Likewise, there still is not audi signage above the entrance gates although the gates are made for signage. There are still some rented cherry pickers around the stadium. Those are what were used for the canopy and why I won't even begin to believe in the crane excuses. Today's opener fits neatly between Defenders' games for attendance.
I probably should have put this in the game thread instead of the still not 2020 or no year thread, but the net posts were interesting. They have ball holders. That's new. It also means ball kids just refill the ball holder instead of tossing the ball to the goalkeeper.
A note for all Android users -- the "save to Google Pay" option now exists within the mobile app when you access your tickets.
My first afternoon match. Sit on the east side, 104. Sun did not let down until the 90th. Will need a cap next time. It was pretty bad
Trying a new commute: Drive to Crystal City garage and park for free - evenings and weekends. Then Uber to Audi field. And then the reverse coming back home. Going in, both times 14 St Bridge has been bad, but traffic usually flows eventually. Last Saturday, I went closer to game time than before, and S Capitol was pretty bad, but still moved. But coming home this Saturday was awful. I walked up to the Mission & Walters bars, and contacted Uber. The driver indicated 3 minutes away, but he got stuck north of Audi Field along Half, 1st and O/P/Q streets. And got stuck there for 30 minutes. In the meantime, at least 15 Ubers or Lyfts showed up for people outside Mission/Walters. Then the guy bailed on me. So I did this again. And then next Uber was somewhere along M St. And instead of 3 minutes away, it took him 15 minutes, but at least he came. OK, that corner has a lot of dead ends around on game nights, so its not the best. Next time I'll walk an extra block up to M St near Buffalo Wild Wings. It takes me about 45-50 minutes to get in from my apartment door to the Audi Field gate. Getting home is another matter. Hope its better next time. PS: The first game was mother-ass cold and the wind was unforgivingly cold. This second game was only friggin' annoyingly cold. A day later is beautifully mild.
