Anyone know how their friendly with Miami went this morning? I believe it was the last preseason game.

Luckily we have some CCL to edge us over.

How are folks reading into the fact that Tessman has played such a big role in preseason? To start a kid in the final preseason match, that by all accounts is off to college, is strange to me.

I realize that FCD has a lot on injuries in their midfield, but still, it’s surprising to me the role Tessman has played.

I see the Tessmann part as a huge push by them to show they want him, he's ready to contribute right away, and they're serious about signing and playing him. They either want him to sign now and forego college or at the very least do a one and done so he's theirs next spring. Basically this is everything they can do to convince him to sign.

The injuries have accelerated the push and I would guess his pending college move has also. I don't think one semester or year at college would do irreparable harm but if FCD gets him to sign now it's probably a bit better for his development. Have any Euro teams made offers?

They talk the talk but they just don't walk the walk. That could all change one window, but I'm not holding my breath.

What a puff piece of an article. Why is it whenever I read a MLSsoccer.com article, I always scroll down further thinking there is more? It's almost as if they have a word limit.

There are a lot of people here who think young American players are a bust if they don't go before twenty yet there are starting to be high profile S Americans who are moving to MLS before Europe with the idea of going there in their early 20's. It could be the league has improved enough in the last few years that young Americans can also go a few years later. I think Jordan Morris could play for a lot of mid-table German teams right now especially those who counter a lot. There are other younger players especially midfielders that I see as better than what I'm watching for a Werder Bremen and could immediately help.

Yes, could have been much more in depth. MLS soccer articles are just promo stuff. To get better go to 3rd Degree.

The reason why I (I'm not sure if everybody else agrees with this) think that guys like Cannon, Pomykal, Ferreira should move rather than stick around too long is that the salary cap limits internal competition. When they were on their homegrown contracts, their salary didn't count against the cap so there were players at their positions that were getting paid more than them and, theoretically, provided healthy competition.

Now? Pomykal and Ferreira get paid a combined $1.35 million. That's a large chunk of the non-DP cap space. Can Dallas afford to get them competition at close to an equal level? Of course not. Their only hope is that they either A) get lucky on a signing who completely overperforms their salary or B) that they have another Ferreira and Pomykal coming through to challenge their predecessors.

People always get angry when those like me claim that Europe has some magical pixie dust. I don't think there's something in the air over there that makes you better. Alternatively, I do believe that having healthy competition at each position enables you to incrementally improve and achieve more. In Europe, iron sharpens iron. At Man City, diamond sharpens diamond. In the 3rd Bundesliga, wooden stakes sharpen wooden stakes. Each player can learn from the entire roster of similar-level players around them.

In MLS, you've got a diamond, a steel sword, a bow and arrow, a wooden trowel, and a stick of butter all on the same roster, and you're hoping that one of them can sharpen the other without being too strong. It's a formula for keeping salaries low, not a formula for individual player development. Once Pomykal, Cannon, and Ferreira reach that level of steel sword where only the diamonds that are DPs are better than them (and it's not like you'd consider Dallas's DPs diamonds anyways), it's time to go, and I think they're pretty much there. You should have your skills sharpened by more than the players occupying the three allotted slots given to you by the league. There's quite simply less avenues for learning from peers and coaches in this league due to the inherent nature of how it's set up.

This is one of the better posts I've seen on here in a long time. You are spot on and something that goes a bit under the radar. Competition is what makes players better and its what makes teams better. It can come in all shapes and sizes, in many different forms, but its a necessity to be the best.

I don’t know how many people in here watch u15 DA games but the Dallas u15’s are unreal this year. The standouts for me are Anthony Ramirez (Uly Llanez 2.0), Matthew Cochoran, Jordan Jones Kevin Kelly, and Pranav Dubroff but the entire team is exceptional. While the 2004’s are a very dull year the 2005’s are loaded.

I watched a recent game they played that’s on YouTube. I also like Tarik Scott and Victor Gomez. Adrian Anguiano is another player you’ll hear good things about.

I’ve never been impressed by Kelley. I don’t think he has soccer skill.

I grabbed just a few clips of Tarik Scott from the game. He did some good things when he was on the far side IIRC but I didn't clip them. https://streamable.com/y0yte

Is there anything saying they can't sign Tessman to a HG contract? He won't count for the 10 developmental slots, but that doesn't mean they can't sign him to that contract which could then slide into a developmental slot if someone leaves/gets loaned out, no?

Perhaps in the INYLOSSEAM fund? In case you loan or sell someone else allocation money.

Kelley really impressed me in their match against SKC this weekend. His interplay was quick and he beat Nati Clarke with ease quite a few times.

Sure are a lot of under current happenings with Tessman. They seem to be making sure he knows he's valued so even if he goes off on his college adventure they seem to want him back ASAP. There even seems to be a slight possibility he joins FCD as a HG signing. Is there a way a player could sign but take a 6 month sabbatical?

They'd just open up a developmental roster spot. Maybe loan 16 year old Dante Sealy to NTSC for now.

Luchi heavily implied that a deal is imminent in his comments to Buzz.

Tanner is still here, what’s that mean? You’re a week out from the season and he’s playing out there with guys who might possibly be first-team choices… Where are were you with him?

Tanner, the family, the player, or the club… we’re all in good communication and going in a direction of professionalism. We’re just taking those steps.

But yeah, he’s a player that is… that I’m really proud of. He’s come through the academy and made a big sacrifice. To leave his family at, really, a young age, to come from Alabama and be in our residency and not be with his parents. That’s not easy for a young man to do at 14 and now to be 18 going to be 19 and have a professional opportunity. I’m really proud of him

I know nothing’s all final and said and done. I’m sure Andre or Dan can update you on that, but I know it’s going in a positive direction.

    Other news:

Pomykal is back in full training.

Servania is rehabbing; estimated 2-3 weeks from returning to full training

Draft pick, '97 forward Cal Jennings will not get a first team contract. He's gone, so buzz is guessing he won't be with NTSC either. That's the nature of the draft these days. First rounders don't make rosters.

WIth regards to Tessman...............let's consider. Pomykal only just returned to training. Acosta and Servania are 2-3 weeks out from returning to training. Roberts has had an on-again, off-again ankle problem this preseason. If they sign Tessman to a deal in the next couple of days, he could be in the 18 on opening weekend. But let's not put the cart before the horse.

Was hearing from a few parents last night that Tessman signed a HG deal with the first team. If its not on 3rd degree yet ( he normally is first to know) then maybe they are jumping the gun. But all signs point to him getting an MLS first team deal.

If so, it shows FCD will skip their laid out path of Academy to USL to MLS for guys they think are exceptional which shows a little bit of self awareness after they were losing players by keeping to the "pathway".

Hope Tanner comes in and starts this year.

Good business by FCD if true. I think he immediately jumps Cerrillo and Roberts on the depth chart and will push Servania for time. His ability to play 6, 8 and 10 makes him a valuable substitute if he can't get into the XI right away.
